My husband takes magnesium citrate for leg cramps which worked fairly well. I read that calcium is needed in combination with the magnesium and so he tried it and said after a few days that he noticed a major improvement and now doesn’t need to take as much magnesium which would sometimes cause an upset stomach. However - for men considering taking calcium please read the well documented research papers on calcium (and potassium) supplements causing prostate cancer! You need to be taking less than 2000mg a day of calcium so don’t pop these like candy! My husband is taking two a day. One morning and one night with his magnesium. I have also advised him to look for a new protein powder as he uses whey and that contains a lot of calcium too - not to mention the calcium he gets from cheese and leafy greens and other sources. So if you are a guy, do your research (good but scary article on the nih.gov site) as calcium and potassium over supplementation without question leads to prostate cancer. But if you have leg cramps and you take magnesium add in a calcium tablet for better absorption and you may also notice a big improvement.

We take 1200 mg of Calcium daily for each of us. Easy to swallow. More cost effective options are available out there for the same thing.
