the total depth of focus is rather narrow, and you have to hold it very close to the object you are viewing. But its a great, cheap, fully functional tool for viewing the edges of knives and chisels after sharpening them.

I've purchased it just to have it handy for personal use at home. I'm not a pro in this. So it works just perfect for me. Is clear and well built. Feels very solid. Love it. Purchased one for my friend too. Will not be a good fit if you need it to spot a really small imperfections and to evaluate a color or clarity as the lens might distort a bit. However it is perfect for what I've got it for and I'm very happy. If it happens so I loose it or damage it I'll just go and buy it again with no hesitation.

I bought this to replace the last one someone swiped. This is a cheaper version, but does the job just fine! When I have to see that nagging clear thread remaining from a shirt tag that’s bugging the hell out of me, I get this thing out and I can find it. I can find all sorts of other minuscule stuff, too.

This is a good value for the money, but mine had a slight defect. The loop for attaching a neck chain or key chain was solid and required drilling out the hole with a small metal bit so I could put a cord through the hole. All else is very functional and decent lens.

In a side-by-side comparison, these are about the same magnification as a 10X loupe that I have. The construction is rather cheap. The fit and finish is off and the metal is rather sharp and machined cheaply. The rather cheap plastic storage case also arrived cracked.

Magnifying power is high, good for collectors.

Good for casual use, nice gift for someone who is just becoming interested in the smaller items in the natural world, Easy to carry or put on lanyard.

I am going into an old silver mine in northern Nicaragua that has not been worked for at least 150 years. It has several types of minerals and rich silver ore. I am looking for ores, and material of semi precious minerals for jewelry. I have already found amethyst, schorl, and epidote. Using the loup deep inside the mine will be helpful. May also be some wire gold in some of the structures, as there is alluvial gold in the river right next to the mine shaft.. A great loup is really useful in activities such as this.
