Q: Do I have to use the vitamins C filter?

No but I like the smell and feel personally

Yes. That is the whole purpose of it. It also reduces the heavy metals in water

Q: do you keep the lemon balm in the plastic?

Yes, the balm stays in the plastic. It slowly evaporates and mixes with the spray as the water runs over it. I'm about 6 weeks in and haven't had to replace my first balm yet, and that's even with having two other roommates that use the same shower. So each pod lasts awhile.

Q: This did not come with a mount to attach anything as pictured above? How is this supposed to hang in your shower?

They showed it attached to the pipe that feeds your shower head, the hose is very cheap quality. what they are showing in the ad next to this answer box, is a holder that you have to screw onto the wall of the shower. I don't know about you but I will not drill into the shower wall. What makes matters even worse is that I rent the house I live in, the landlord would go nuts.
