We bought this for our 3rd grader who seemed to be struggling with reading comprehension. I was really impressed by this workbook. First of all, it is not super thick. It's pretty thin which is good for my son, with a total of 38 pages. He see's the big books and feels overwhelmed. Each day he does a new reading comprehension activity. The activities vary from reading a paragraph and answering the questions by referencing the paragraph, multiple chose, picture order according to the story and fact and opinion pages. Each activity is a page (on average) so it's easy to pull one of the perforated pages out and have them do it really quick. I am pleased that the activities very because it gives him all the different examples of how you use reading comprehension.

A very helpful book to help reluctant readers improve or keep their current level of skills up during the summer months. My daughter needed help with focusing on the details and I like that these passages are just challenging enough that she had to go back and pick out specific details from the passages while using the test pages. It was a skill my daughter was having trouble remembering to do so having concrete questions to use (instead of having to make up my own questions to quiz her after reading) was very helpful. Each passage is different and my daughter liked that she could choose which story she wanted to read according to her interests. I would recommend this book.

This is a great book!
My nine year old was struggling with reading comprehension. We needed a simple way to help him understand what he was reading, and this is it. The way it's broken down helps him to understand what he is reading and focus on pulling out information from the story to answer the questions. I'm very pleased with this book.

Gr. 3 Reading Comprehension: Great Info
Our TAG 2nd grader does extra pages in this workbook in order to be challenged, keep his brain occupied, and help him think more deeply about things. What I love is the explicit instructions on how to scan an article for the important information. It is exciting to watch my son really pick up these tools and then apply them. He also summarizes what he has learned after each reading and has learned new fun facts about animals, time periods, and vocabulary.I'm glad I bought a grade ahead. Good purchase.

Great book!
My son was dx with ADHD and having trouble with reading in large groups. I purchased this book for home as he needed to pass 3rd grade reading. This book helped in bringing his test scores up. The concepts were great. Not filled with pictures. I felt fine if the work was challenging for his age but it helped. He was promoted to 4th w/o summer school. I just purchased the 4th grade edition. I purchased one for my niece going into 3rd grade.

Great comprehension book!
We did this with my child who was struggling in reading durning the beginning and middle of the school year. It was maybe 1 or 2 assignments that was a little confusing in this book but other then those it was easy to understand and explain. It is now coming towards the end of the year and we finished the book and on her recent reading score she passed above grade level so I am very happy with this book and will be purchasing the 4th grade level for this summer to practice.

Great resource
Great resource for students who can read on their own. Passages can be two pages long. The comprehension questions I felt were good. I had students read the passage and then answer the questions. If students got stuck we reread the passage again to find the answers. I also suggested students to highlight or circle the answers within the passages.
