Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner, FH52000 (Renewed)

The Hoover SmartWash Automatic Carpet Cleaner, FH52000 (Renewed), is absolutely amazing. As a property manager, I’ve used countless rental machines and owned several carpet cleaners over the years, and this one truly stands out—it’s a miracle cleaner. We were on the verge of giving up on our carpets altogether. After shampooing before the holidays, the spots kept returning. This machine changed everything. It’s well-made, rugged, and powerful, with excellent suction that removes water effectively. Cleanup is simple and hassle-free. We love the automatic design: it applies water and cleaning solution on the forward motion, then sucks and dries on the pull-back. The dry-only feature is another standout, helping carpets dry much faster. A clear winner—and an excellent value for the price.

I bought this because my manager said I am responsible for the upkeep of the carpets and that I was ruining them. I have the power dash by Hoover and now this. It is an amazing product. I like how it is separated into 3 compartments solution, water tank, and dirty water. I am slowly using it to clean and cause the fibers to rise. Mine the handle does not wanna snap in place and I was worried that someone said that their handle kept falling out and it wouldn't let them use the spray forward because the handle didn't lock in place. But if you tilt the machine back and use it as you would either shampooing or as a vacuum to suck up what little water it dispenses it holds itself in place and I am satisfied with it not being locked. Seems to be a design attribute that this one machine will work to shampoo and clean the carpets. I have found that this machine can be used to lightly dampen the carpet and suck up the moisture and refurbish the carpet back to standing tall like it is new 🆕. First I use it with concentrated oxiclean large area rug shampoo and then go back over it a week later and then vacuum like every other day to 3 days. It has nice suction and doesn't leave the carpet wet so much even if you have to go over it a couple times. It gets the water up and the dry only button comes in handy to get extra water out of the carpets. I have a Amazon commercial black round fan that on low blows like the plastic fans from dollar general and Walmart when they're brand new. The industrial fan dries the carpet 25 feet away from the fan and quickly. I have 5 plastic fans and one black 🐈‍⬛🖤 metal one. Giving away the plastic fans and only gonna use the metal one from now on. Everything seems to be sturdy and easy to empty and clean. The handle not locking in place is not a hindrance to using the machine as it seems to be well built to stay in place while using it. I would recommend this to anyone elderly who doesn't want to hold a trigger sprayer the entire time while shampooing your rugs. I have balance issues and can't stand for longer than a couple minutes before my waist starts hurting because of obesity. I'm 60+ pounds overweight and 60 years young. Gets the stains out but some may need to go over a few times. It was sent UPS and arrived 3 days early and was completely there. No dirt in the tank or dents or nothing like that. Just a big brown box with a new looking high quality shampooer. My cat 😸😺🐈 loves the big brown box to lay on. She can't be threatened by the shampooer while on the box lol. The dirty tank shows the uncleanness of the dirt and such from the supposed to be clean before carpeting. Works better than a rug doctor in my opinion. And it will last awhile and pays for itself after one use. I would recommend either a refurbished or brand new machine from Amazon and the 3rd party seller. I was going to buy one brand new but this one was like $69 cheaper than a new one and didn't have anything that was wrong with it. Only someone who didn't try to use it as it is would have problems with this model and brand. Here's to happy clean rugs.

Regret this purchase, it's cheaply made, as soon as I went to use it the lock tab for the cover of the double roller broke. It's only two small plastic tabs with a small spring clip on each to lock it in the place and when it was locked in place it was gapped around half causing lack of suction and dirty water was coming right back out of it. The machine itself did a bad job of cleaning carpet. Whereas I thought I would prefer the automatic Smartwatch compared to trigger but it became more of a hassle switching it back and forth to dry only. And I had to go over the carpets way too many times with dry only.

My husband was very happy with this machine. Cleaned well, suction was good. Carpet dried much faster than he expected.

Excellent cleaner, but has a major leak. I love how lightweight and easy to use and clean this machine is. However, if left upright, both the clean and dirty water tanks will leak until they're empty. My solution is to remove the tanks between uses. If they fix this leaking issue, it would be a perfect 5-star machine.

I purchased a Hoover Smartwash automatic carpet cleaner. I have previously Bissell. When my last one died I started the hunt for a replacement. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money. I was lucky to be able to buy from Amazon a refurbished one at quite a cost savings. I just finished using it. Cleans like a dream with powerful suction. Clean water and dirty water tanks are substantial so they don’t have to be filled as often as old one did. Especially like the fact that the cleaning solution is in a separate dispenser and not mixed in with the water. The machine pulls the amount that it needs through when it needs it. You also don’t have to push a button to dispense it. It automatically dispenses solution and water as you move it forward. When you pull back, it sucks out what it has put down. I also feel like it doesn’t leave the carpet as wet as the other one did due to suction more powerful I’d give it high rating. It was easy to take apart to clean and easy to put back together. It is a much better machine than the one I had before. Highly satisfied!

We have 2 puppies- apparently we’ve gifted them our bedroom carpet as a glorious spacious toilet. ;-) While we continue potty training (ie OUTSIDE) this rug cleaner has been a life saver. It’s so easy to use (I have bad wrists) and easy to clean/empty which is a HUGE plus. Great suction for drying after cleaning, great cleaning power- no leaking!!!! I had originally borrowed this exact rug cleaner and after using it twice- purchased my own!
