Warm, spicy scent softens to vanilla
This was an accidental scent selection that works for me in the fall/winter. NOTE this has a strong clove top note that dissipates into a warm vanilla-y scent, but it is still a classic scent. A nice way to control this scent is to use the included sprayer.

Incredible Smelling Cologne
This cologne is so amazing. I get compliments on it all the time! My father use to wear it, so it is also nostalgic & sentimental to me.

A MAN'S SCENT
The fragrance is male all the way. No sissy, flowery aroma here. Wears well too.

Product destruction and misrepresentation.
I have used Royall and St John's Bay Rum forever and have always appreciated the unique, non-perfume scent and lasting presence. Both have been premium brands on which you knowingly paid more to get the genuine product. This is no longer the case with Royall Bay Rhum. It now smells like saddle soap and the scent lingers for a few minutes-not long lasting at all. What a disappointment--don't waste your money. Now, it is on to St. John's and hope they they did not move their processing plant into a soap factory as well.

57 got it all wrong. A step back.
I know there’s been a lot of reviews out there over the past few years about how today’s formulation is not as good as the original of 1962, but I actually loved the scent and depth of Royall’s Bay Rhum until the 57. My last bottle of the (modern) original was in 2016 and while it was right, the 57 seemed to take the heart out of the product. The warm, yummy boozy base notes are gone and you’re just left with a slight surface scent that frankly is not worth the money. Very disappointed and will be trying Ogallala now or another.
