This certified DP 8k cable works as advertised, achieving 3440x1440 165 Hz @ 10-bit color
I have a AW3423DWF 3440x1440 165 Hz 10-bit QD-OLED monitor. I was experiencing dropouts in the connection every few hours with two other DP 1.4a cables, despite both advertising 32 Gbps (HBR3) support. So, when purchasing a replacement, I wanted to make sure it was actually certified to meet the HBR3 bandwidth requirements. DisplayPort calls its certification for cables supporting HBR3 bandwidth "DP 8K." Note that the standard DP certification is only at HBR2, and will not necessarily support the full 32 Gbps bandwidth. This seems not be as much of an issue at shorter lengths like 1-2M. However, I needed a 4-5 M cable, and there are very few certified at this length. Thankfully, this StarTech cable has a DP 8K certification at every length (1,2,3,4,5 M) and unlike the prior cables, I have not experienced any dropouts. I am now running the monitor with custom timings at 3440x1440 165 Hz @ 10-bit color without any issues. At the timings I'm using, I'm utilizing 99% of the HBR3 bandwidth, so the cable really works as advertised. This cable cost roughly 2/3 more than a non-certified cable ($41 versus $25 at ~ 5M) but it's worth it to get a cable you know will work. Note that you can't go by the diameter/thickness of the cable as the non-certified cable was actually significantly thicker and yet couldn't maintain a connection without drops. Each conductor in the StarTech cable is individually shielded, which ensures a higher level of signal integrity, but this is something that isn't visible - hence the value of independent testing.

I have been loyal to StarTech for years and continue to remain loyal
I have been loyal to StarTech for years and continue to remain loyal to the company. Their products are a bit more expensive that other generic junk you can find online but there's a good reason for that. They only make quality products that last. Cables tend to be better constructed, higher quality materials, and much more robust. I have never had a StarTech product fail on me but if one does, I'm sure that they would gladly replace it under warranty.Highly recommend their DisplayPort cables.

Just get this one.
Don't cheap out on cables! So many sellers on amazon sell junk cables that are not within spec, startech's cables auctally do what they advertize. I have tested this cable on a monitor doing 170hz @ 1440p + low end HDR, everything is working like it should. Went though 4 other cables that said they were also displayport 1.4 and none could even do 120hz @ 1440p.

Works with Ultrawide Gaming Monitor - Acer x34
Had another DP cable that's "4k 60fps gaming ready" blah blah that works 99% of the time....but every once in a while will disconnect for a split second to my Acer X34. It goes blank for only a split second then reconnects, but it bothered me to no end. THIS cable works like a charm, fps as much as my monitor and gpu allows. The Acer x34 also has a silly issue where the DP connection point is tight - I tried cables with larger/longer connectors that simply won't fit because the cable connector is too fat/long. I swear by monoprice but I will in future add Startech to the list the next time I need cables to anything.

So far it's good.
Bought this to use with my LG 34WK95U which has a reputation for being temperamental. I bought the monitor used at B&H for 500 bucks cheaper than new and was using it with this Cable Matters cable - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y1QP9FV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1The Monitor and cable worked fine together, even thought the cable is rated for 4K, and the monitor is 5K-ish. Then the price of the monitor dropped to what I paid for a used item so I returned the used one and got a new one. The new monitor was blacking out using the Cable Matters cable. Basically the screen would shut off and turn on randomly. Using the 6 foot cable provided by LG fixed the issue but I needed a longer cable due to my desk setup. This new StarTech cable seems to be working just fine. Screen no longer blacks out and audio pass through seems fine. I can now raise my desk and not rip my display port cable out of my new monitor. All is good. Will update opinion if experience changes. Not sure what a cable is really worth but so far I'm very happy with this Display Port cable.

Performance that makes room for the Future
This was a great buy. Due to the cord being an official release, it bit only put me at ease for future GPU and monitor upgrades but also eliminated an uncommon but very aggravating bug that made my system's recovery from sleep modes unable to perform as designed. After the purchase there have been no issues and I look forward toward pushing my system further in the next build or more serious upgrade choices.

It works!
I run a 2k monitor at 144hz and it doesn’t flicker while gaming.I mine and game at the same time, I didn’t want my computer in my room because it would increase the room temperature by like 10*F. With this wire specifically I’m able to leave my computer outside my bedroom when gaming or mining.

Really good cables
Bought a few of these to replace cables from another brand. The other brand would flicker once or twice, albeit rarely, say once a day after a minute of inactivity. With these cables, no flickering noticed whatsoever over the course of two weeks. Highly recommended.
