Nice lock that works with my Smartthings HUB and can be controlled remotely
I have used Schlage combination locks before, but this is my first "smart" lock. There are a few to choose from, depending on your needs. This one uses Z-wave wireless to talk to a HUB that supports Z-Wave. (Hubs centralize your smart home automation and have advanced capabilities that non HUB automation may not provide.) I have a Samson Smartthings HUB to control my house smart activities. The Pros: The lock is beautiful. Very eligant and was the style I was looking for. Schlage locks are known for the best in class security. Uses Z-Wave and works with Smartthings hub. (Z-wave is low power so batteries last longer) Easy to install. It simply replaced my previous deadbolt. I spent no more than 15 minutes installing. Connected to my Smartthings HUB with no issues. Add and remove codes remotely You can unlock and lock the door remotely, on a schedule, or some event that your HUB handles. You can have lights or other devices turn on or off when lock is locked or unlocked if you want (controled by HUB). Con: Cost. Instructions for connecting to Smartthings HUB are to minimal. There was conflicting methods from included instructions and online manual. I found no documentation from Schlage or Smartthings on how to setup the lock so I can enter combination codes on the lock from the Smartthings application. The default configuration will only allow lock and unlock from the Smartthings applications and to view the locks current status ( locked or unlocked). I knew that I should be able to manage the lock codes/combination from Smartthings. After lots of searching I found someone on YouTube that walked though the steps to setup codes. Now when someone enters a code to enter the door I am notified on my phone and the name I associated with the code is displayed, so you could know which family member, worker, etc just entered. I would recommend this lock, I will be buying more.

Inter compatibility
This is my 5th Electronic controlled deadbolt lock utilizing a keypad, Biometrics, bluetooth, or RFID and the second Schlage dead bolt with Keypad and Z-Wave technology. Out of all the brands I have purchased and installed Schlage is hands down the best. It was the least complicated and only required a screwdriver to install, no additional drilling required for mounting plates. The ring app gives me feedback directly to my phone if it has been unlocked or locked it works flawlessly with Alexia. I made a video demonstrating how quick the response is to lock and unlock (about 4 seconds) adding a voice code so someone can't just walk up to you window and ask Alexia to unlock. (I used 1234 as a demo voice code only) I can use the Ring app as well to control the lock. A nice feature is I can set the Ring Alarm System to come on when I lock the door and off when it's unlocked. You can give a temp password to a house guest, friend or dog walker and be notified when someone unlocks the door. There is a built in tamper alarm that will sound if the wrong code is entered 4 times, this disables the lock and will require you to wait until the alarm stops or use a key to unlock. You will need a smart bridge to use Alexa or google to control the lock. If you don't have a smart home bridge you will need to get one. This lock Does Not work on Bluetooth or wifi direct. Hue or Ring have smart bridges, that run from $40 to $50 and will allow you to control lighting, thermostats, locks, garage doors, and many more devices. I can even control my hot water heater and monitor for leaks. Schlage, You should have a robust wifi, not for speed but for coverage. If you need better coverage I suggest a Mesh wifi system. They are easy to install and helps with streaming so you don't get buffering when everyone in the house is streaming their favorite shows. I have the TP-Link Deco Mesh WiFi System 3pack. It give great coverage to my Half Acre lot with a 1500 sqf house and a 800 sqf shop, even my RV parked in the farthest corner of my lot can stream on a fire stick. All the products are purchased by me and no compensation has been given. I just like technology when it works for me. Ring and Amazon have great support, there are many videos on You tube that can help.

Doesn't work very well
We had a 15-year-old Schlage lock on our front door that stopped working last week, so I ordered this SCHLAGE BE469ZP CAM 716 unit, which costs three times more than the best-selling digital lock on Amazon, to keep things compatible and uniform. I am a pretty good DIY person with a college degree. I downloaded the manual from the Internet to read and took the old lock out and put it back in twice successfully to practice for the installation. The unit arrived the next day without the backup key, a significant disappointment, but not a deal-breaker for me yet. The only manual was a tiny booklet (4”x4” size with 10 pages including the covers) with simplistic but clear instructions. The new unit looks well-made from the outside, but the internal parts are flimsy for an expensive lock. The installation was effortless at first, but the final part was connecting the tailpiece with the slot in the back of “the inside assembly”. Something was wrong with the “thumbturn” setup, so it can only work if we turn the “inside assembly” sideways. I spent two frustrating hours on a Saturday afternoon struggling to get it to work, but couldn’t. The next day, I tried again and called for support, but it was closed on Sunday. I called them again on Monday, but gave up after waiting for over 30 minutes. It seems like Schlage is a good brand, and its locks are installed all over my neighborhood in the SF Bay Area. However, my experience with installing this lock was quite disappointing. I have to give it 1 star as a warning to other customers. I will return this worthless unit to Amazon and get a working one at Home Depot.

Nearly a year later, we're happy.
We installed these on all of our exterior doors ten months ago, and these locks are as-advertised. The locking mechanism is smooth and reliable, and they look good as well. The Z-Wave integration was a bit finicky and I often encounter problems when remotely setting new user codes, but by and large these have been a non-event. All three locks are on the original batteries ten months later (more on this below), and only the oft-used front door has dropped below 80% battery. Our home automations cycle these locks regularly, and we've never had issues with lost connection or failed network commands. Some cons: Adjustment and proper "tuning" of the door is absolutely critical. If the placement of the deadbolt is not absolutely perfect, you will be miserable -- the motor is not strong and it will eat through the battery in mere days. This was my initial experience before I educated myself on the experiences of others. I can absolutely confirm that adjustment and clearance must be correct; any significant contact with the deadbolt striker during mechanism movement will cause problems. Adjust the position of the closed door at-rest during the installation, and take the time to get it right, and you'll be happy. Separately; the plastic on the keypad face is faring poorly in direct sun. At this rate, the plastic face will require replacement next year; it is already degrading and flaking around the edges. That's normal in my desert southwest environment, though disappointing. Overall , we've been very happy with this purchase. Once we had it set up properly, they have worked every time, reliably, and without fuss or tinkering. The best measure of a smart-home integration success relates to how much time you spend supporting your tech. I've spent virtually none (remote user code changes via z-wave network excepting). It just works.

So far, so good.
I bought this to replace an earlier Schlage Z-wave lock that lasted eight years. What the new one shares with the old lock is the lack of long term support, and the inability to buy replacement parts, so don't expect this to last as long as a traditional lock. The keypad itself seems durable, but the old one was showing signs of physical wear, and it would have been nice to be able to replace it. The keypad on my old lock stopped functioning, which could have been a problem with the keypad, the wiring harness, or the main board for the lock. It's a moot point without support. That doesn't mean that the new one will necessarily fail. Schlage continually updates and improves their products, so I'll know better over time. Regardless, the prior keypad showed wear on the number areas. Since I have a different code for each family member, it's not as if the wear is limited to specific buttons. But if you stick to the default code length of four, and use a single code, wear around the keys will give away which numbers are in use, and that narrows it down to try to guess the combination. So not being able to replace a keypad is a potential security concern. I'd suggest using a code length of five or longer, and using a different code for each household member. Compared to the old one, this looks identical. It has z-wave plus, which doesn't make a functional difference. It does work reliably, battery life seems much better than before, and the motor is somehow different. I can't say whether it's an improvement, but it sounds different and is so far completely reliable. Integration with Alexa works well, in theory. Schlage says that it's supposed to work with a Nexia bridge, which is true for non-Alexa features. The Alexa app will show my locks and show the correct status, but physically trying to unlock or lock with the app won't work. I can use a voice command to lock any of my locks. For unlocking, I will get a prompt for my voice unlock code, after which I will hear a "something went wrong" message. I have the latest Nexia bridge and firmware, as well as the most current app. I can't blame Schlage for this entirely since it might all be Nexia's fault (for the record, I had these issues with their latest bridge as well as their original bridge) but it's something to keep in mind if you have a Nexia bridge and account. My original Schlage lock came bundled with a Nexia bridge, so it's not as if I'm doing anything unorthodox that Schlage shouldn't have anticipated. If they are going to advertise that they work with a Nexia bridge, they should work with Nexia to assure that it's true. Most of the power comes from whatever z-wave system you are working with. The lock itself allows for more than enough codes and has the necessary features for good z-wave hardware and software to be able to do anything I might need.

Stylish modern upgrade to any front door
I wanted a smart lock solution for our vacation home and after a lot of searching this one fit the bill. We have a major security provider and I wanted a smart lock that would integrate with their system's control module and our smart home hub. Schlage's z wave makes it very universal to communicate with multiple systems but confirm compatibility first. The second reason for this was Schlage states this deadbolt is bump resistant and it can be used with an old fashioned key. The piece of mind of using a key in the event of battery loss, frozen weather, etc. is a huge plus in my book. Another great feature is the built in alarm, so even if the main system goes down this can be a backup for the front door. My wife loved the overall look and the fit/finish is top notch and matches our home decor exactly. Installation was easy and we added secure deadbolt striker plates with 3" screws. Make sure to align everything before cutting (measure 3 times, cut/drill 1 time) and putting it is is easy. It uses standard batteries which is also a big plus. After 8 months the batteries are still going strong. The key pad looks great and once you know how to turn on the light it is easy to use in the dark. You can program in multiple codes so you can keep track of who is opening the lock. Pros - Looks great, heavy and good quality frame and components. - locking mechanism is solid and operates smooth (but noisy as others have noted) - can operate as a smart lock or a dumb lock or anything in-between (can be locked from inside with a mechanical dial) - battery life is long, even with a month of below freezing temps the same set of batteries is going strong 8 months later - integrates with multiple smart systems. I can geo-fence the lock to unlock when I am in the driveway, remotely lock/unlock, and control from my primary alarm system provider's app and base station - physical keys work perfect - lighted keypad for night, but you need to know how to turn them on - supports multiple pins for different users, can be used with smart systems to know who is coming/going - easy to install and setup, had it installed into a brand new door in just under an hour and programmed in 30 min Cons - locking/unlocking is loud (the motor that operates the mechanism), this can be a plus if your want audio assurances but it can be jarring late at night/early in the morning (but you can use a key or the knob if you want to be quiet) - deadbolt alignment is an absolute must, any resistance or alignment that causes rubbing or binding will make the locking/unlocking problematic, this is why we installed the heavier duty deadbolt striker plate with deadbolt channel - z-wave is more open source, however you have to take the cover off to put the lock into paring mode which makes hacking it very hard to do without physical access to the back cover - keypad night light isn't intuitive to use, press the Schlage logo, we mitigated this with smart light-bulbs on the porch Overall, we are supper happy with this lock. My wife loves the look and feel, I love the security features and reliability. I highly recommend this as it can be used with keys and without smart feature just in case. It stays connected to my alarm system and smart home hubs without any issues. Even though we have an alarm system this holds the extra layer of security knowing if anyone tries to bump it or kick the door in an additional alarm will go off and notifications sent.

These are great locks
These locks are super easy to install and set up. We have the RING alarm system, and it integrates perfectly with it. Once installed on the door with included hardware, put batteries in, went into the Ring app and set it up in about 3 minutes. We already have one of these on another door, so we just transferred the settins (codes, etc) to this one and now the 2 of the operate exactly the same, and allow us to arm, disarm, the alarm, set specific codes for specific people, etc. The locks look good too, especially from the outside. On the inside of the door, they are a bit larger than many others I have seen, but I have had such great success with my first one that I wasnt going to try anything else. I do not use the built in alarm function because I have it automatically connected to my in home alarm. Also, interestingly, once I had it set up in Ring, I did not have to do anything more, my Alexa immediately recognized it allowing us to ask Alexa remotely if the door is locked or have Alexa Lock it. It will NOT unlock the door for safety and security reasons.

Seller wouldn’t refund full price unless they can restock/resell broken equipment.
Purchased 2 (two!) deadbolts from seller. Never had issues with Schlage deadbolts before. Installed them and tried to set them up. Out of the box they would not connect with my Z wave equipment, neither of them would connect. Ordered a replacement Z-wave hub thinking it couldn’t possibly be the deadbolts. While waiting for the new hub one of the deadbolts ate through a brand new set of batteries. Put in fresh ones. Towards the end of the first week, second deadbolt also ate through its batteries and stopped working. Also put in fresh batteries. New hub arrived and would also not connect. First deadbolt started giving me red blinking light error. Motor stopped working altogether by end of second week. Ordered different model as a replacement. New model went on door and setup immediately. Contacted Schlage to troubleshoot and they confirmed it was indeed ad dead motor. Returned dead device, admittedly in the wrong box. Only got a $48 refund on a $220 order. Second deadbolt died on week 3, had already ordered a replacement. Returned to seller, again only got $24 on the $220 device. Sorry it came back in the wrong box, but the devices are clearly the ones I bought from you. Do not buy from this seller. Both products defective, they did not refund full price because they couldn’t resell and had to “dispose of appropriately” even though I explained to them in the RMA they were defective. I returned to seller because I moved away from zwave and didn’t want to use this model anymore. I would’ve dealt with Schlage if I wanted to replace with the same model, I love Schlage and I know they would’ve replaced promptly. It’s your problem to return to manufacturer and exchange for new working ones you can sell.
