Clean and NO Toilet Water Soup!
Summary: After 5+ years with two of these BOOMJOY silicone toilet brush sets, they have stayed clean, effective, and rust-free, and they avoid the gross “toilet brush soup” problem better than any traditional brush I have used. This is the only brand I will buy for toilet brushes. Not because I enjoy these tasks, but because I am really too good for them and therefore require the least disgusting tool possible. If you want a toilet brush setup that stays dry, stays tidy, and lasts for years, this is it. I own two of the BOOMJOY Toilet Brush and Holder Sets and have been using them for more than five years. I am happy to report that both sets are still going strong, with no rust, no wear, and no weird wobbling. That alone is impressive for something that lives its life in the most emotionally challenging corner of the bathroom. The best part is the brush design. Because it is silicone, it does not retain water the way old-school bristle brushes do. You know that classic situation where the brush goes back into the holder and marinate in a sad little puddle of toilet water like a tiny cursed stew? That does not happen here. This brush cleans effectively, then dries easily, and there is no pooling in the holder. It is a small detail that makes a huge difference in day-to-day grossness. Cleaning performance is solid. It scrubs well, it rinses off easily, and it does not end up looking like it has been through a medieval battle after a few uses. The included tweezers are also a nice touch for those “I cannot believe I have to deal with this” moments, and I appreciate not having to improvise with a wad of toilet paper and regret.

Looks Beautiful, But Does Not Work As Expected
Overall look of this product is good. Even if the base is made of plastic, it's aesthetic is great for the price point. Plastic also has another advantage - no rust. I have been using it for 2+ years and I have not seen it's faded. It is still shiny. I clean this with Clorox/Lyzol wipes every 2-3 weeks. It has retained its look till now. The only bad part of this design is the metal portion of the handle. Although I understand it adds sturdiness, it takes away the look a little bit. It does not gel well with other parts. The weight is imbalanced and that makes the handle wobble. Now coming to cleaning, I have few complaints: - The handle construction is not very sturdy. The mix of plastic and metal does not work well and the handle is wobbly. - I feel there should be more bristles on this brush. There's too much gap between bristles and that impacts how it cleans.

Not my favorite toilet brush
The brush is rubbery and hard to clean the toilet. Not happy about the product. Price was fair.

Love it!
I love this brush, it does not get dirty :), its not as strong because the bristles are rubber but it also doesn't look disgusting as the regular ones.

Comparison: Boomjoy vs Lefree vs Sellemer
I wasn't sure which of the three I'd like best. I was intrigued by the flat, triangle shape of the Sellemer. I liked the round, compact look of the Lefree, and the Boomjoy had a nice tweezer attachment (which I can use to clean out hairs in my shower drain). Also, Boomjoy was the cheapest of all three. **UPDATE** The Boomjoy metal handle has now gotten rusty and looks gross. So I would NOT recommend this one. So you can see in my photo the type of packaging they come in. The Sellemer and Lefree both also come with a little plastic piece that you can stick to your wall and hang the brush on your wall. Not really sure I care to do that, though. I also placed all the brushes next to a coffee mug, so you can see approximately what the sizes are. I like the Sellemer in that it's svelte. The Lefree is also quite compact. The Boomjoy has the largest base, so it would seem to take up most space. But the size differences, as you can see, are minimal. The brushes in the Lefree and Sellemer "hang" to drain, that is when you put the brush into the holder, it's suspended and there's a ventilated bottom. The Boomjoy is a solid bottom piece and the brush rests in it, like a bowl. I suppose that can cause some water accumulation and won't dry as easily/quickly. All three required the handles to be twisted on, which were easy enough on all three. I liked the handles on the Sellemer and Lefree over the Boomjoy. The Boomjoy was the only one that had a metal part to the handle, but for some reason it felt a bit flimsy. The other two had all plastic handles. This is the first time I tried silicone brushes, and overall I like the way the clean/work over the old bristle ones. Sellemer: I thought I would like the triangular shape as it said it could get under the lip easily. But in trying all three of them out, the flat, triangular shape actually made it feel a little flimsier, so I didn't feel I could brush as hard against the toilet. I did like that there seemed to be good density on this one with the silicone bristles. Lefree: This one looked like it was most lacking in silicone bristles. They were all spaced somewhat far apart. But, it still seemed to clean fine, and I could press it up against the lip of the toilet and it got under there just fine. Just as fine as the Sellemer. I felt I could press pretty hard against the surface of the toilet, too, to scrub some of those harder water stains out. Boomjoy: This seemed to have more dense silicone bristles than the Lefree, but less than the Sellemer. It also worked much like the Lefree. I could get under the toilet lip easily and scrub pretty hard against the toilet surface. Honestly, they are all "Made in China" products, so the quality is all pretty much the same. So what you are really deciding on are small features and which style you like the best. Personally, knowing what I know now, I would buy the Lefree. While the bristles were the least dense, it seemed to clean just as well as the others. It has a small footprint with a ventilated bottom. I just didn't really care for the flimsy feel of the flat triangle Sellemer. And the Boomjoy's non-ventilated bottom bothered me a bit in that I think if water were to gather and drip when I pick it up next time, it would be gross. I do like having the tweezer, but is it really necessary? It also has the largest base. I do like its very sleek look though, and the fact that it doesn't put its brand across the base. Also, if price is of concern, the Sellemer was most expensive at around $15-$17 depending on when you buy it. I see a lot of price fluctuations. The Lefree is around $13. And the Boomjoy was $9.99. Overall, all three worked pretty well, and I think I will stick to silicone over the bristles from now on.

The rubber bristles are easy to clean and feels a lot more hygienic. Good product.

It is good but somehow don't like its rubber brushes, I don't feel like its scrubbing the toilet, feels like I am rubbing some rubber which make me feel its not cleaning the toilet as it supposed to. Clean ok, the best thing is, it doesn't hold the residue or water which make brush smelly. It gets dry quickly and looks clean.

I did a fair bit of research before selecting this product and the primary criteria was that it be hygienic to use. The silicone bristles and design of the holder assisted in achieving just that (coupled with a neat trick of placing the toilet brush under the toilet seat, sanitising it and leaving it to dry - from cleanmama). The brush also enables hard-to-reach spots in the bowl to be easily cleaned, and it looks good overall.

Fabulous design and different bristles to most; very effective; sturdy build and aesthetically pleasing; prompt delivery in perfect condition.

Update: Originally I wrote “Durable materials, solid build and nice design.” This morning I realised the handle has rust and it won’t probably last much longer. What a waste!
