I usually do not have time to write reviews. But, this one I had to make the time! Yes! The quality of everything is just what they promise, the size, the look, the weight... everything is great. But, the service these guys have is AMAZING! They really stand behind their product. I ordered this chess set, and happen that the mat was not in any of the 2 boxes. I wrote to the seller, and their response was impressively fast. They told me they were going to send the missing item, I was very worry since I ordered this set to have it for a party. These guys fedex the item to me and was here 2 days before our event. There was not one person who was not impressed by our chess set, furthermore even the ones who did not know how to play got so excited about the cool pieces that wanted to learn. Solid product.

I’ve had them for over a year now and they are seriously all weather. Only great things to say about giant chess pieces. Very easy to clean, no cracks or breaks. I would suggest building your own board as I did. But definitely invest in the pieces for a great time in the yard.

Just what we were looking for, big enough but not too big

This set is great for outdoor play and for engaging others in games of chess. I put two pounds of sand in the base of each piece and that makes them just the right weight. (And the sand stops them from rolling down the street.) All of the pieces have knobs on the top which makes them easy to handle. And each piece is instantly identifiable. I'm glad I bought it! Nitpicks: --The rooks look bland: they could've used more pronounced crenelations around the top. --The chessmen don't come with a chessboard. You can spend a couple hundred dollars on 64 interlocking tiles, but that's got to take forever to assemble and so can't be very portable. Or you can spend $60 on a somewhat flimsy nylon mat that looks wrinkly and thin. What I did was buy a thick canvas dropcloth and paint black squares on it, and then spray it with waterproofing. It takes a little persistence to draw straight lines on the cloth (I used a high-quality 8-foot board I had lying around, and a carpenter's square), but once you do that the painting is straightforward. So far my painted canvas is working great! --Buying an extra queen: on Amazon an extra queen costs $59--buying it direct from Megachess is significantly cheaper. I only bought one, a white queen that I'll paint black bands on, so it can be used for both sides. (Alternatively, they have red queens.) --I had been using the shipping boxes for storing the pieces, but they're quickly succumbing to use. I've looked for some mesh bags as replacements, but the one I bought on Amazon was a little tight. (Megachess sells a set of 4 bags for $79, which I've ordered. I hope they'll take the extra weight of the sand.)

Very happy with my purchase

Not only is the chess pieces MUCH smaller than the photos show (photos are of larger size then what is provided), the customer service was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! As soon as I contacted them, the FIRST response was “It’s not our fault you can’t read. You can return them if you want, but you pay for shipping and lose your initial shipping charges (which is against Amazon policy). Then proceeded to say they can’t take me serious, and I need not even reply to them. Wow! Stuck with tiny chess pieces (more countertop size than outdoor size). This size chess set is avaialbe many places for $100-$175. Definitely recommend shopping elsewhere. I should have listened to the reviews about this company prior to purchasing.

OMG what a great hit these where to put 4th of July Party! So happy we got these, can’t wait for the checkers to come in! Added a little bit of sand to the base they are perfect!
