This is an indispensable textbook for quite advanced students who wish to refine their French. Each chapter covers words/phrases with similar meaning and usage, clarifying the appropriate situations for each one. The first page presents the related phrases and identifies how each is used, along with some example sentences.,The second page offers exercises to quiz one’s understanding. I’d appreciate having the answer key for immediate feedback; however, it is not included. Instead it must be purchased separately. Still, I’m very pleased to have found a text that really addresses a few usage issues that I haven’t found explained elsewhere.

Easy to understand

Excellent book for students at the advanced level. Les Corrigés is a free PDF download. As a French instructor, I can't think of any topic that is not addressed with clear explanations, at least most of the time. I highly recommend this book. Note: Nothing in English in this book.

I am taking French in college and this is now my third year. This book is very helpful and has everything you need. It is completely in french, so if you don't already know French well enough, consider finding a different book, otherwise this one is perfect for you!

I learned French living in Paris. I speak and read pretty well, but need to clean up my grammar and writing. I'm sick of American texts with explanations in English. I've found French classes in American universities simply don't address my specific needs (except for an excellent phonetics and phonology class taught entirely in French I just took which used the pink text from this series). This book is exactly what I was looking for. It's methodical and addresses the finer points of French grammar. I probably should add that I hold my MA in applied linguistics, speak a few languages, and am a trained foreign language teacher, so I know what I'm doing.

This is an excellent resource book to assist in learning French. It is very thorough and easy to understand, a pleasure to use. I wish I had realized that the answers to the practice questions are not provided.

Great text, plenty of exercises that cover various topics and grammatical concepts.

Cover was bent in several places and with multiple scratches. I could have gotten it new from a different source and cheaper. Sorry to have trusted the original description.

Un excellent livre. Une révision totale de la grammaire française à un niveau élevé de vocabulaire et de complexité de phrases. En plus, des explications pour des petits détails de grammaire qu’on n’a jamais appris, mais qu’on avait constatés en lisant ou on écoutant les français. Par exemple, tous les formes, usages et valeurs du mot « de » et ses dérivés. De temps en temps on aurait aimé un peu plus d'explication - les auteurs ont été peut-être limités par le format (explications sur le page gauche, exercices sur le page droite). Je ne suis que sur le page 67 mais je vous recommande le livre.

Não é uma gramática pra APRENDER muita coisa, é realmente só pra revisar. Por isso, as explicações são bem curtinhas. Não é exatamente o que eu precisava, mas é esse o propósito do livro e acho que cumpre o que promete, por isso dou 5 estrelas. Veio em perfeitas condições e no tempo estipulado.

Excelente libro para practicar gramática en francés. Viene con una pequeña página de explicaciones y después varios ejercicios a realizar. Me gustó mucho porque resuelve muchas dudas ddonde te puedes confundir a la hora de hablar francés. Está bastante ligero para ser un libro grande. Pero es importante tener en cuenta que NO VIENEN LAS RESPUESTAS. A mí esto no me molestó porque ya lo sabía de antemano. Estoy muy satisfecha con mi compra porque además llegó en perfectas condiciones.

This is a brilliant grammar book. Each little section has one page of theory and another page of practice questions, which takes me about 30-45 minutes. At the end of each chapter (eg Nouns), there are some examples of texts relevant to the topic and a little quiz. I’m working my way through it over the summer holidays doing one or two sections a day, as revision before I start a French degree in September. I personally like being immersed in the French way of teaching grammar and I find the book easy to understand. I think it’s good for DALF and DELF as there is a lot in how to write essays and the all important “mots de liaison” that the French Insist on seeing scattered through texts. Be sure to buy the Corrigés as well, so you can check your answers. I have so many grammar books and this is my favourite Bon courage et n’hésitez pas
