AutoSock for Commercial Vehicles and Trucks AL79, Snow Socks for Tires, Pack of 2

I use these on all my vehicles but initially bought them for my BMW. Chains tear up delicate sensors and can do damage to the suspension parts, so are not recommended by BMW. And, if you've ever been stranded somewhere trying to put chains on in the cold- it's a nightmare! Enter the Auto Sock. When I purchased my first pair, I don't think many knew about them in my area. They were so easy, but how could they work so well? I was able to drive up hills with ice, in my little car, while 4X4's were spinning out all around me WITH snow tires on! The look on the other drivers faces was priceless! As a nurse, when I get called in to work, I can't say no due to snow and ice- I have to be able to get off my hill. These make that possible, and do it with ease. I even use them on my Subaru for even better traction on icy surfaces. They give me such piece of mind that I recommend them to everyone I know. With a recent large snow storm, my city was paralyzed. I actually gave my old pair (8 years old, used many times with only a dime sized hole in them) to a young woman who couldn't get up my hill and had been trying to for over an hour. I think they were a little big for her tires, but her smile as she drove off easily was worth the effort. If where you live ever gets snow or ice, get these- no matter what type of vehicle you use. They truly are the easiest things to put on and pull off. They are very durable, and the same price as chains. And, I've never seen a snow sock laying in the middle of the road like I do chains. Another plus is unlike snow tires that take up a large amount of room in the garage, they also don't tear up the roads when the pavement is dry. I wish they made these mandatory for people who don't have experience driving in snow- there would be a lot less accidents and stranded motorists out there. If you are looking for a great birthday or Christmas present for your kids going off to college, or anyone you care about- these are not sexy and probably not on anyones's list, but they are a great gift that will keep someone safe.

I purchased these a few years ago, and threw them in the trunk of my car. I normally don’t try crossing Donner Pass (I-80) when it snows, but this time, I had no choice. They worked great. Took 2 mins to install, and they held up relatively well. Much easier than chains.

Just used it and was absolutely amazed. This is a great product. Didn’t slide on the ice even on turns. Easy to install and remove. Just dry off, fold back into bag, and keep in the car. Follow the speed limit of the instructions and don’t worry about the noise if you go near 30mph.

Purchased these for a trip into the mountains to Snowboard. In pervious seasons I had an Audi with winter tiers and that is the benchmark with which I judge the AutoSock. My current vehicle (2020 Mazda Cx9 AWD) comes with 20" tires and very low wheel well clearance. That means chains are out of the question and with the trip being last minute, winter tires weren't an option. The AutoSock seemed like a great option and after a little resesrch online I pulled the trigger. Fastforward to the weekend. Time to head up to the slopes. Road conditions are sketchy but not the worse I've experienced. Midway thought the drive conditions degrate to a thin layer of snow and ice on the road and I started experiencing small slips. I pull love to fit the sock. I was very impressed with how quickly they install. Fitting sock to both front tiers, move forward a few inches, and fitting the rest took all of 90 seconds. As expected the ride was smooth and the slipping stopped completely. We arrived up the mountain with no issue. I did notice that the left sock was half off the tire when I parked. I'm not sure if that happened during the drive or when I turned around to back into the spot. At the end of the day when it was time to go a major storm was in progress and about 6" of snow had fallen. The parking lot was a mess and many MANY vehicals were unable to leave. More than a few others with chains were able to leave but only after being dug out of their spot and push assisted to get going. I on the other hand was able to get out of my spot unassisted and with little to no wheel spin. Getting down the mountain was an exercise in skill and patience but happened with little difficulty. There were a few small slips of the rear during tight turns on steep grades but nothing unexpected or difficult to deal with. On the way down we passed 2-3 cars being pulled out of ditches. We arrived home safely and without incident. After this single trip the left sock was in excellent shape. The right sock however (the one that slipped off) was completely torn through in multiple spots and will need replacing. This tearing definitely happened during the return trip, likely from the few minor slips that happen on steep turns. At the end of the day, the socks were easy to install, easy, to remove, had a smooth ride, got me through conditions where other cars (even those with chains) struggled. I wouldn't recommend them for anyone who goes into sketchy conditions regularly. I intend to purchase snow tires next season. But for those who go occasionally and/or rarely encounter conditions that require extra traction I think they're a good option vs chains.

Worked great on 2024 Toyota Sienna (HP697 Socks). I agree with other comments to provide your own gloves, a old pair of garden gloves works fine. Also not mentioned in the instructions is I find it quite helpful to turn the AutoSocks inside out to install so they roll on rather than slide on. 2 minutes install and removal without crawling in the slush!

Mon véhicule C3 AICROSS est annoncé non chainable. Ne partant à la montagne qu'une semaine, je ne voulais pas acheter des chaînes spéciales montage frontal à 300€. J'ai tenté le coup en achetant ces chaussettes. J'ai dû les utiliser sur une portion de route enneigée, impeccable, faciles à mettre en place, j'ai roulé à 30 km/h sans problème. Dès que j'ai retrouvé l'asphalte, je les ai enlevé. Aucune déchirure. Au retour je les ai lavé en machine, maintenant elles attendent mon prochain séjour. Personnellement je recommande ces chaussettes neige.

15.gennaio.2025 Recensisco volentieri queste "calze da neve" della AutoSock che si sono dimostrate, alla prova pratica su neve, una davvero piacevole sorpresa. Premesso che sia per neve fresca e/o compatta la dotazione migliore a mio avviso rimane sempre: buoni pneumatici termici, meglio spendere per le gomme qualcosa in più ed avere un prodotto di qualità ed è importante che siano il più possibile nuovi, sia per l'altezza dei tasselli del battistrada sia come data di costruzione (dopo massimo 4 anni, anche se immagazzinati bene durante l'estate, perdono la maggior parte delle loro attitudini chimico/fisiche invernali) e delle catene in acciaio di buona fattura pronte all'uso in bagagliaio (personalmente utilizzo da tanti anni e su diverse vetture le "pewag" austriache, trovate l'intero catologo pewag qui su Amazon) ho provato di persona, montaggio e smontaggio compresi, queste calze da neve progettate e costruite con appositi materiali in Norvegia da oltre 25 anni (l'assemblaggio del prodotto avviene in India), più per curiosità che per vera necessità. Auto utilizzata: Audi A6 quattro, pneumatici: 255/35/21 Pirelli P Zero Winter 2, due calze montate solo sull'avantreno, davanti, condizioni stradali/meteo: fondo di neve compatta ma con una forte nevicata in corso da varie ore (quindi anche con neve fresca in superfice); montate davanti, sull'avantreno, hanno dimostrato un'ottima trazione sia in piano che in leggera/media salita, anche con soste e ripartenze con vettura ferma; bene nelle curve e sui tornanti (aiutate anche dai pneumatici termici e dalla trazione quattro) e usando lo sterzo con prudenza non hanno mai dato "segnali di crisi" con perdita di aderenza particolari all'anteriore. Bene anche in frenata ed in discesa; come forse si capisce dal titolo mi aspettavo ... di peggio, ed invece se la cavano davvero egregiamente! Complimenti all'ideatore/produttore. Unici punti interrogativi rimangono: 1) la tenuta su strade completamente ghiacciate (ho trovato solo brevisssimi tratti ghiacciati, comunque pericolosi e quindi percorsi con ancora maggior prudenza) per le quali è meglio affidarsi a buoni pneumatici termici + eventualmente delle catene in acciaio (questo ovviamente a mio parere personale); sul ghiaccio poi la dotazione veramente sicura sono solo i pneumatici invernali chiodati, sicuri ma scomodi. 2) la durata se si percorrono tratti di asfalto non innevato, ovviamente essendo di tessuto, anche se speciale e molto resistente, è meglio toglierle e poi eventualmente rimetterle; kilometri e kilometri di frenate/curve/ripartenze non gli possono certo fare bene e posso garantire che per il montaggio (e per lo smontaggio) bastano 5 minuti, è semplicissimo ed intuitivo anche per le persone meno pratiche e per le Signore: è facile e non ci si fa male alle mani (sempre meglio avere comunque con se un paio di guanti di qualità, solo per esempio gli " Ansell HyFlex Hero", qui su Amazon il catalogo completo) od utilizzare quelli di plastica della AutoSock in dotazione, senza troppe pretese ma sono sufficientemente lunghi per evitare di bagnare o sporcare i polsi delle giacche a vento o dei maglioni oltre che le mani. Altra nota potitiva è la rete esterna dalla parte della strada di ogni calza, alla vista appare come una garza di materiale sintetico ed evita accumuli di neve che ghiacciando si compatta all'interno dei cerchi dei pneumatici. Sono omologate per l'Italia e tutta l'Europa secondo la normativa EN16662-1/2020 e quindi parificate alle catene in acciao, attenzione però: NON sono parificate alle catene in acciao in tutta l'Austria, il paese alpino per eccellenza richiede, dove e quando previsto, solo catene in acciaio; soluzione: pneumatici termici in ottimo stato e se sussiste anche l'obbligo di catene in dotazione (ovvero in bagagliaio, e la Polizia controlla) o addirittura montate per alcuni passi alpini, se aperti al transito in inverno, ne queste calze ne altri tipi di "catene" con maglie in materiale apposito (per esempio: aramide) in Austria sono accettate, solo maglie in acciaio. Niente altro da aggiungere, solo qualche suggerimento: se le utilizzate lavatele appena possibile, anche in lavatrice a 30 gradi ciclo delicato/veloce con poco detersivo, non vanno "smacchiate" va semplicemente tolto lo sporco che si accumula e l'eventuale sale antighiaccio; non utilizattele per lunghi percorsi su strada asfaltata senza neve, brevi tratti ... anche si, lunghi anche no. Credo siano l'ideale per chi abita in zone dove neve e strade ghiacciate sono una vera rarità perchè se la normativa di legge prevede comunque la dotazione invernale d'obbligo si possono continuare ad utilizzare i cd pneumatici estivi e tenere queste calze, con un ingombro minimo ed in regola con la legge, nel bagagliaio; ed in raro caso di utilizzo funzionano proprio bene. Come per tutte le catene anche queste calze vanno montate entrambe sull'asse traente dell'auto: sull'auto a trazione anteriore vanno montate davanti, su quella a trazione posteriore dietro, sulle auto a quattro ruote motrici sull'asse sterzante e quindi davanti. La casa costruttrice dichiara la totale compatibilità con i tutti i sistemi di controllo elettronico della trazione di tutte le vetture; nel mio caso non ho notato nessuna "interferenza" con gli ausili elettronici alla trazione e/o alla frenata, cosa assolutamente positiva, addirittura imprescindibile per evitare guai seri. La misura da me acquistata calza ed avvolge perfettamente i pneumatici, una volta montate sembrano cucite sui pneumatici. Non aggiungo fotografie perchè il prodotto, confezionato con guanti ed istruzioni in una pratica e ben robusta busta di plastica con maniglia è perfettamente conforme alle foto di questa pagina di Amazon (che cura anche la logistica di consegna). Prodotto "testato", promosso e consigliato!

Nieuwe auto, dus ook weer andere bandemaat en nieuwe sneeuwkettingen nodig. Nu voor en Audi Q4 etron. Ook al heb je deze al 5 jaar of langer niet nodig gehad, je moet ze gewoon hebben als je naar de alpenlanden op wintersport gaat. Op basis van goede reviews deze gekocht en zeer tevreden. Ze nemen weinig ruimte in. Prijstechnisch heel gunstig vergeleken met gewone sneeuwkettingen. En deze winter ook nog gebruikt, ook! Je legt ze er zo om. Geven hele goede grip. Bij aankomst onder de douche afgespoeld om ze schoon te maken. Echt een aanrader.
