works well
Only motor/controller like this on the market. Works well. Good price. I used it on an older small metal lathe . Had been looking for a long time before I found this unit,

Much Better Than Moving the Belt
Had to deviate from the instructions a bit. Original Delta motor pully was too small for the new motor shaft so had to use the supplied pully instead. Also added a double pole switch to allow for reverse operation. Works great.

Easy installation on my Harbor Freight 65345 mini lathe. Works great so far!
I didn't read the directions and I had it installed in under 30 minutes. I also installed a digital tachometer, and on the lowest pulley speed, I am getting a range of 480-1900RPM. I can't see needing to change the belt for speed adjustments at all.

Fits Rikon 70-100 but ….
It says this is compatible with the Rikon 70-105 so I figured it would fit the 700-100 since it is virtually identical except for the swing. You will need to drill the existing motor plate to fit this new motor, however, you will also need to purchase a smaller belt as the existing 70-100 belt is too big and you will not be able to swing the motor down far enough to put any tension on the belt. I gave up at this point even though I had it fully mounted in the unit when I discovered this but I am assuming you could find a smaller belt compatible with this. It is still cheaper to purchase this motor and find a new belt if you have the 70-100 and want the ease of a variable speed lathe but you may be better off choosing a small variable speed lathe to upgrade to and sell your 70-100 to offset the cost.

Good while it worked
I would have given the upgrade 5 stars if it would have lasted more than a year, and customer service would have fixed the problem, I made several attempts to get support, but I always got the run around because I bought thru amazon instead the store.

Really good for the money.
Just replaced the motor on my Delta midi lathe. It only took 20 minutes start to finish! Really good mounting plate too!
