Pretty good
small, easy to use, inexpensive (right now at least). Seemingly very low latency, (around 1-2ms). No weird effects or issues so far.

When others fail, go with Startech
Best HDMI to VGA converters. I have tried many other budget brands and they all failed. The Startech converters always work. Easy to install and there are no synching issues found with other budget brands.

Does as advertised, though a little high for price.
This Female VGA to Male DisplayPort adaptor functions as it should. It displays correctly, lists the proper monitor information, & produces what appears to be an accurate viewing experience. It is however a bit high in price.

Display port solved my problem
I have a Dell 4600M, which is a high end laptop. There is a flaw with this machine. The VGA port does not seem to be compatible with most projectors. I work at a large company and everyone with this laptop has the same problem. I've tried changing drivers and spent a lot of time on the phone with Dell to no avail. I decided to try projecting from the DisplayPort rather than VGA port via this StarTech adapter. It has worked great for me. I've used it on 6 different projectors and it has worked on all of them. The only negative I see is that the product is advertised to handle up to 1920x1200 resolution. I'm only given an option to display at max of 1280x1024 when I link to a projector. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of the cable, projector or laptop. But the 1280x1024 is sufficient and gives a nice clear image on the projector. So overall, I'm pleased with this product.

Solid adapter after frustrating local search
After striking out at local stores like Best Buy and Staples—where staff didn’t even know what I was asking for—I ordered this StarTech adapter based on their solid reputation. I needed to connect a VGA monitor to a new desktop with only DisplayPort, and this worked perfectly right out of the box. The build quality is excellent, the connection is stable, and the cable feels sturdy. Very happy with the result.

This is the only active adapter you need for a 3 monitor set up with the AMD Eyefinity
If you have all of the other related hardware, this adapter will get you up and running with a 3 screen/monitor system. I have a MSI graphics card with the Radeon AMD 7770 chip. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with all the possible incarnations that can result from one chip being offered on so many different graphics cards. There are several different versions of the MSI Radeon HD7770 card alone. My MSI card has one full size DisplayPort, one HDMI and a DVI-D out. So three total outputs (and you will use all 3 for the 3 screen Eyefinity set up). You can do HDMI to HDMI for one monitor, DVI-D to DVI-D for another, and this StarTech adapter from the DisplayPort out on the graphics card to the VGA cable that attaches to the VGA input on your monitor. This set up assumes that each of your 3 monitors have one HDMI input, one DVI-D input, and a VGA input. I'm using three of the Asus VS247H-P monitors. Thin bezel, good price, excellent reviews and all three of the listed inputs. You will need the most current drivers and AMD software that supports Eyefinity to get up and running without too much pain. So this is a good adapter at a fair price that will work with the Eyefinity three display set up for monitors without DisplayPort inputs.

This adapter rescued my system and saved me from a blunder!
I was on the point of returning a newly purchased Beelink Ser5 5700U mini PC due to an intermittent black screen on my main monitor when I bought this STARTECH DP to VGA ADAPTER on the advice of Beelink's Tech Department and Youtube experts. Boy, am I glad I took their advice! After connecting this adapter to my monitor's old VGA cable--which I used because I KNEW it worked--and firing up the Beelink, everything worked perfectly! There is NO DOUBT that the 'BENFEI 6 foot DP to VGA adapter cable' I had bought previously to connect this system was defective and had caused the problems.

Splendid Product
This wasn't my first DisplayPort to VGA adapter. Actually, I bought a Display Port Male To VGA Female Adapter first. I'm running three screens off my video card, one being VGA, another HDMI, and the last is DisplayPort. As one might imagine, it gets a little crowded behind my computer. The first adapter worked, but it was bulky, pushing the HDMI out partially. If the computer moved at all, either the HDMI would slip out or the DisplayPort would disconnect. Eventually, while I was replacing a USB dongle for my keyboard behind my computer, the adapter just split apart, revealing that it was held together by a couple of dabs of glue. To replace it, I went to this adapter, and the quality of this one is much better. Since there's a wire running from the DisplayPort to the VGA, the HDMI connection doesn't have to fight for room. And the thing is sturdier, made of better materials, and is easier to deal with behind my computer. Sure, it's not two bucks, but this one will likely last longer than my computer will.
