First Batman story, “The Case of the Chemical Syndicate.”
A little dated by comparison to todays incarnation of Batman, but it all started with this story. What’s not to love. Bad guys, murderous plots, a disinterested Bruce Wayne, Commissioner Gordon at peak Gordon, and Batman punching a dude into a vat of chemicals. It’s all chef’s kiss really. Totally enjoy going back and reading Batman stories from the forties and fifties, we’ve come a long way. It’s nice to read a throwback and see how this world and it’s characters evolved.

Glad I got to read it!
So glad to read this original Batman story. Wonderful to see these reprinted for those of us who weren't around in 1937. Best of all I got it free!

A classic read
This is how one of the most famous and my favorite comic book heroes all started. Glad to finally read this after being a fan for the past 40 years of my life. Thank you, Amazon, for making this available. - Cheers, Matt

First Appearance of The Bat-man
Despite a simple story and somewhat crude art, it's still interesting to see the beginning of a character that has become so iconic.

Detective comics #27
Detective comics issue 27 was a very good comic detailing the beginning of Batman and his origins and this comic is worth recommending

So much in so few pages.
Good storytelling. In few pages is established the type of character of Batman. In comparison to Superman (is inevitable to compare them) the world of Batman looks a bit more sci-fi, with Apex chemicals. He is a man that kicks and punches the villains while in his spare time smokes from a pipe in suave clothes. It is very theatrical and is nice to see the essence of Batman perdures today as it was then. I imagine this issue will look outdated only when stories about Batman stop to be published.
