A naturist’s best friend, a bug’s worst enemy.
I spend a fair amount of time nude on my back porch and if there’s one thing naturists like me hate, it’s bugs. Generally, I live and let live, but biting and disease-spreading insects must go. Self-preservation comes first, after all. To that point, I think this is a brilliant alternative to bug zappers that indiscriminately kill useful insects and rarely kill true pests like mosquitoes. And I refuse to kill useful pollinators like bees unless they were Africanized and actively attacking me. Originally, I planned to buy a salt gun, but then I ran across this and thought it might be more effective. At half the price of such gun and without the need for “ammunition”, I decided to go for it. So far, I have been pleasantly surprised by its performance and by the slightly sadistic bonus of sparks, smoke, and a burning hair smell. One negative reviewer stated that a fly was able to walk around unharmed on the device after they had set it on their desk. Obviously, it will not do anything until it is switched on and the trigger is depressed. My experience so far with fast-moving insects like flies is they are tricky to eliminate. That said, I have killed quite a few flies with this zapper, but it takes some skill and patience. It is best to wait until they land on a soft surface and strategically swat them instead of flailing around in the air like a crazy person. I have even caught them exploring the metal grate when the racket was set down and simply pressed the trigger to eliminate them. What’s even more interesting is watching the ants come along and dissect and carry off the carcasses. Fresh fried fly seems to appeal to their appetites. Technically speaking, battery life is pretty good. I usually charge it after a few days of usage, but have yet to run out of juice. There is no charge level indicator, so I have no idea how many pests one can eliminate on a single charge. Build quality is average. It’s just cheap plastic, so I would avoid smacking it against hard surfaces. If a fly lands on a chair cushion or something, definitely go for a full swat.

Great for Swatting Flies
Have had this racket for a few years. Works great for zapping annoying flies that make it into your house during the summer. I rarely re-charge it, and has lasted much longer than other bug rackets I've purchased in the past. I highly recommend.

it does not need batteries
I stand behind this product. if you have gnats, flies or mosquitos, you'll love this thing!!! I found out about this while on vacation in Jamaica. the mosquitos had a feast on me and this little old Jamaican lady said poor child, hold on a sec. then she came out with this thing, waved it around, and you could just here them mosquitos popping left and right. I stopped getting bit so much. then as I was leaving, the old lady was just standing outside saying goodbye to me and my friends, not realizing that she still had her thumb on the button, and we heard huge pop and sizzle for a long time. a Tony bee got stuck in it and was sizzling like crazy! yes, this thing works like a champ.

All Zapped Out
The Zap It! Bug Zapper worked awesome . . . for almost 10 days before it got very weak. I only ever charged it once. By the second time I charged it, it was only giving a weak little zap to some fruit flies, while most just flew through it. I checked it on larger house flies and one got a minor zap on the leg, through it still flew away. Another just crawled through the mesh without even a weak zap to daze it. When I first got it, I tested it on a yellowjacket, just to see how powerful it was, and it kills it with a series of zaps when pinned against a door. However, I wouldn't use it to strike one mid-flight unless it was out of desperation. I'm currently looking into other fruit fly disposal options because it's a law we have to compost in Vermont and fruit flies are a big summer problem.

Does not kill flies instantly. Takes about 4 hits to kill.
Got this to deal with a fly infestation in my apartment. Was hoping this would be a one hit, one kill but I quickly found out that it takes several hits with this thing to a kill a single fly. The zapper may have been low on charge and the flies I was dealing with were massive so that may have played a factor. I don't see it as a complete waste because I was eventually able to kill all the flies in the apartment thanks to this and some sticky traps.

My favorite toy!
Oh my God, this is so useful, practical, wonderful and amazing! Sorry nature lovers but I HATE insects with a passion, especially flying insects, and flies are just the grossest things right up there with roaches!! UGHHHHH!!!! My house gets fumigated every three months so those monsters don't get near my house, but anyone gets a fly or a mosquito in the house every so often when someone opens a window or door and chasing a fly is not fun and they are hard to catch. But not with this baby, it is about the size of a tennis racket, just perfect for a quick swing and with a touch and a quick ZAP the bugs disintegrate like magic! It's the best purchase ever. I loved it so much that after catching my first fly with it I went out on the patio to catch anything and everything that flew by, heeheehee....

It does what I need it to do - kill the biting flies and mosquitos when they are aroundI
I like this product. It helps me get out and walk without being overly exposed to biting flying bugs and without using insect repellent. I have the medium and small size. Medium works much better for me. If I manage to contact a pest, and I am relatively good at doing so, they die. Charging and use are relatively easy. Four Stars - easy to use: I would prefer some kind of indication when it is getting close to needing charging. Also, I would prefer the light switch were placed elsewhere. Where it is currently located, I notice it gets turned on frequently when I am actively trying to zap pests.
