Review: Awesome! Must Have! - This book is fantastic, I thought about the price for ages at nearly £70, was it worth it, YES! Due to the high rating and limited reviews it said to me that only people seriously interested in the topic would spend this amount on it and therefore the reviews are honest and the book good. If like myself you are studying any of the Cisco/Juniper certs and/or work for an ISP, this book is invaluable. It teaches you about internet protocols and goes in to great understandable depth. I believe anyone with any level of experience can learn from this. I wish I bought this first before all my other books which go over the total cost of this. Combine this with a Cisco/Juniper certification guide (official) and O'Rileys Network Warrior and you are set! This will set you apart, here's why; the study books will teach you the venders way and implementation to pass exams, Network Warrior teaches you real life scenarios with configs from small sites to large sites and equipment (6500's/NEXUS/ASA) etc in detail and then this bad boy tears down every protocol so when you debug or are faulting you know what part of the process is failing and why. Yes certification will teach you this, but you learn how routers and computers really talk to each other in a much greater depth. I recommend the hardback as its MASSIVE!!! So in summary if you want a book that covers everything and are serious about the subject get it!! If the thought of understanding how LCP and PPP work together in detail so you can get a PPP sessions bores you and you're satisfied with the fact it just works after correct configuration, this ain't for you! Review: Excellent! - I went for the hardback version of this publication rather than the Kindle version, which I am glad to say was the right decision. lots of diagrams and text, written by an expert in the field of networking, a book for learning and reference on networking.

Great book
The book was marked as being in very good condition but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be in such good condition. It is basically brand new. Regarding its content, I've only got through the first 15 chapters so I can't really give a realistic review at the moment. There is some dated content here and there. Nonetheless, it is written in a very easy to follow manner and the topics order just make sense so far. Consider checking the Internet and RFCs whenever in doubt of possible dated stuff. I'll probably come back with an edit once I get it to an end. But so far I'm delighted.

Quality material and binding
I strongly recommend this book for every network engineer and someone trying to get in networking career. The material of the book is of high quality and the binding is really strong.

TCP/IP and networking bible.
This is considered the standard text on TCP/IP and is used as a resource for F5 networking exams, it is a very detailed read on the entire TCP/IP stack and covers both IPv4 and IPv6. If you are looking for a learning book for TCP/IP then this is not for you, however, if you are into networking and are planning on taking higher level Cisco / Juniper / F5 exams, this book is worthy of a position on your shelf!

After being out of the loop with networking for sometime, I was able to sync up with most concepts in about an hour of reading this book. Very clear explanations and diagrams, I think the author is a genius because most networking books I read either ramble on or don't have proper diagrams. This book has both, to the point explanation with diagrams, that's all I need. If I remember correctly this book is available for free but after browsing through this on Google Books, I just felt compelled to pay the author for making my life so much easier :)

Would agree with many of the positive reviews here. It is hard to believe that just one person wrote this book. Equally amazing is how good it is. It is getting a bit old and some things are beginning to move on, but to understand IPv6, you need a good grasp of IPv4. Both are covered beautifully in a manner designed to teach not confuse or merely impress other academic types. There are detailed diagrams and line by line full explanations on every topic and nothing nor any detail is skipped. From binary transfer, to packet encoding, everything imaginable is covered for the OSI reference model, in terms that just about anyone can understand. Seriously impressive. Want to understand networking? Much of the information in this book is a must. As a reference book, it is outstanding. At 1500+ pages it doesn't miss much, if anything, although I must confess to only having read line by line about a third of it in total, roughly 500 pages. I'm biased as my hobby and professional work is IT. I literally have multiples of hundreds of tech books, in paper and Ebooks. For me, this book is a work of fine art.
