TecTecTec Vpro500 golf rangefinder. The customer service is excellent. I've been contacted by them, not because I needed service, but because they wanted to make sure I was 100% satisfied with the product, and that they are there if I have any issues. This alone made me feel like an appreciated customer. As for the product itself: Pros: Very lightweight. Easy to use with one hand and if scanning for a while, lightweight is a good thing Great optics. Looking through the the rangefinder, everything was clear. (If it's not focused, make sure you adjust the focus by turning the ) Easy to use. Just point and click. the yardage readout comes back quickly. Cons: Single target rangefinding can get some getting used to. I've found that it's easier to rangefind people, carts, bags than pins. Most of the difficulty I had might be more user error though (see below). Color of black only. As pointed out in some other reviews, black matches with a cart interior/cupholder. So adding multicolor would make it stand out more. There is no stability control. So if you have shaky hands, single target rangefinding may be more difficult. Scanning and Pinseeking modes though may not be. Other Thoughts: One issue I did have in the beginning, was putting the battery in. The instructions say to rotate the battery cover counter clockwise. In reality, the battery cover is located below the eyepiece where you look through the rangefinder. You just slightly push down on that grated piece, and the battery cover should just slide out like most electronics. Scan mode and using pinseeker mode properly. This is something that I didn't use in my round of golf. What I did was I thought I was in pinseeker, and it would not get accurate measurements. So I used normal mode, and got my targets one by one. Using this method, I found larger targets (people, carts, bags) were easier to get accurate readings on. Smaller objects like pins (without a reflector on them) was more difficult. What I did wrong was a user error situation (and which I did not use in my only round using this item). First scan mode. To get continuous readings of targets, you have to keep the power button held down and scan your targets. Instructions say to press the power button, but does not mention to keep holding it down. This is by far easier than normal mode. Pinseeker mode. After hitting the power button. You have to change the mode to pinseeker (second button press once and the flag should appear on the bottom left of the viewfinder). Now, if you hold the power button down, you can scan to the left and right of the pin and it should give you the distance to the closest object. Again, this was another user error situation, and I was just pointing it at the pin which is incorrect. Overall, this is a great rangefinder for the price. I was using this all over the place, from the teebox to see when the golfers in front of me were out of range, to the fairways. I also used the optics to birdwatch while waiting to hit. The one thing I wish it would do, and I don't think any other rangefinders do, so it may not be possible. But I wish it also had an ability to zoom in further. But if you are in the market for a Rangefinder, this one is more than worth it. Edit: 12/12/16 Been using this for a few months now. Can say that it is definitely worth the price. Still going on my first battery. And now that I'm used to how the rangefinder works, I easily find the distance for everyone in the group.

This is the first rangefinder I've ever owned. After researching different rangefinders I decided on the TecTecTec VPRO500. 1) because of the reviews and 2) the price is more to what I wanted to spend. I came very close to spending more just because of a brand name. Glad I didn't. I received this on Aug 22nd. I noticed how comfortable it was to fit in the palm of my hand and how easy it was to locate each button (2 of them) on top of the rangefinder. Seems to be well built and sturdy. Came with a nice case that seems durable and a lens cloth to clean the glass. I received an email from TecTecTec before receiving this, thanking me for the order, and with tips on how to use once I do receive. This was very helpful. Am very impressed with the customer service. First thing I wanted to do after receiving was test this out by marking off 5 yard increments up to 50 yards. The VPRO500 was spot on at each distance. Once on the range I tested the pin seeker. Was very easy to pin the flag and get the distance. I tend to have a steady hand so for me it is very easy for me to get a quick reading. The scan mode is also easy to use. Just point and press. Results was the same on the course. Yardage to the flag was spot on and easy to switch to the scan mode all in one motion to get reading to front of the green. This sure made selecting the correct club easy. Also comes in handy on the tee box to get distance to fairway bunkers or other hazards. During the Labor day weekend I played a round with a friend who had a Bushnell rangefinder that had the jolt feature. He told me his Bushnell cost $369.00. Side by side the VPRO500 and the Bushnell was accurate to the yard on every par 3. I even tried the Bushnell and can say that except for the jolt I could see no difference. I personally thought the VPRO500 was more comfortable. Both performed with accurate readings. After the round my friend was very impressed with the VPRO500 and said that if to do over again and what he knows now he would choose the VPRO500. I have now played 5 rounds and the VPRO500 has performed as advertised each time. It si very easy to use and I would not hesitate to recommend to a friend. I'm very glad I purchased the TecTecTec VPRO500.

I have a $300+ GPS and I prefer my new rangefinder over my GPS. Both are accurate and have their pluses and minuses but for accurate distances to the pin, the rangefinder can't be beat. I have used this for most of the summer (fathers day present) and it has worked flawlessly. It has gotten to the point that I don't bring my GPS with me unless I am playing a new course. The yardages provided by looking through the rangefinder are accurate and easy to obtain. As with any rangefinder it takes a little getting used to when targeting a specific object. Sometimes I get it locked on quickly and other times it takes a few seconds. I do like the fact that it has multiple modes but find that I typically leave it is in the mode that I have gotten used to. I like this so much I am purchasing another for my son. Update: After 2 years the LCD numbers started to partially disappear rendering the range finder almost useless. At first I thought this was due to the battery wearing out as I have see this with other LCD devices. The new battery did not change a thing. I am looking for a different brand to see if theirs will last longer than 2 years. Too bad as this one worked well for the first 2 year which is the reason I still gave it 3 stars. Update April 23, 2018 - I contacted the seller about my issue and they responded within a day. They had me try removing the battery and then sitting it in a warm dry area for a few days. Since it is still cool out I took the battery out and sat it in the window of my car for 2 days. When I put the battery back in the rangefinder worked flawlessly. The numbers were full and sharp once again. I added 1 more star but left it short of 5 stars because I have never had to do that to other devices with LCD screens, there should be something in the directions that cautions you about this and if that is the case, why doesn't the case come with a small pocket to store the battery if I have to remove it when stored for an extended period of time.

I've only had a chance to use this a few times at the range, but so far am pretty pleased. I think it is easy to use the different modes. It is true that for longer distances it is harder to hold it steady to get a good reading, but that is true for anything magnified that needs to be held steady. Pin seeking mode helps with this and you just need to start to the left or right of the pin and point at something behind (i.e. further downrange than) the flag. Then sweep across the flag and it will read the distance. Otherwise, if I need to point and hold steady at something really far away, I might have to brace against the golf cart or something or else just learn to hold it steady. So far I've been able to read the distances I need. I don't give it 5 stars yet because one time at the range I tried reading the distance of a very close flag (roughly 5o yards). It came back as 75 yards. I measured that several times and always got that distance. This was in pin seeking mode. I am not sure why it was off and I should have tried the other modes to see if I could have gotten a more accurate reading. To be fair, I didn't have another way to verify the true distance, but I have my doubts about that one reading. That said, I did check distances at multiple flags at the range against the ranges posted at the sign and it was within 1-2 yards in each case. So my only concern is if pin seeking mode doesn't read very close flags accurately. Update: I'm bumping this to 5 stars. I am very happy with it. It is easy to use and I've had no issues getting true distances from it. It helps to understand how it works, especially when in pin-seeking mode. In that mode, it takes a reading at whatever you are pointing at, then you pan left or right to pass over the flag and it will see the change in distance and identify the flag and distance. I suspect it considers a flag found if a closer object than the initial reading is some threshold closer (say, 20 yards). Anyhow, with the problem I reported earlier, I suspect I got an initial reading of distant trees (>300 yds), then inadvertently panned over a pin 75 yds away before panning past my intended flag. So, I just have to be aware of what I am panning past when trying to get a reading. I also don't mind not having elevation calculations. They aren't allowed by the USGA anyhow and it is simple enough to add/subtract a club based on my own perception that the target is above or below me. So I think this is a great device for the price.

I received my golf rangefinder over a month ago and took it to the driving range for testing. I had not owned or operated one in the past so this was my initial try. The VPRO500 rangefinder is awesome! It took very little time to figure out how to use it; a little trial and error combined with reading some of the reviews and it was pretty simple. I tested it at the driving range to various points and to the flags they had out; then started hitting shots to confirm distances. Using the different buttons I was able to determine yardages to certain areas and precise yardage to the flags. I'm 58 years old and back in the day played to about a 3 hdcp. Back then we relied alone on 150 markers and stepping off yardages; in comparison, this is like having your own tour caddie! Although I don't play very much these days I still get invited to play in scramble tournaments so I hit the range to get my swing back then go play. Anyone who has played the game for over 45 years knows the older we get the shorter we hit it, but with modern equipment and the golf ball the way it is now, it's the great equalizer. Knowing how far I hit a 7 iron went from an automatic to a guessing game, but now I can be more precise once again. I'm not one to look for in comparing this product with others since I'm "old school" but I will tell you this thing works nicely, is accurate, easy to operate, and it eliminates a lot of guesswork. It does not measure slope but there are somethings a golfer has to figure out for themselves; like wind effect, elevation, etc. It's well worth the money, will save you strokes in your game (IMO) and help your precision (even inside 100 yards) where I'm more of a feel player. I was very impressed and highly recommend this product.

I was hunting for a laser range finder for the golf course. A buddy of mine had one when we played recently and he seemed very pleased with the unit that he had. I had been using my smart phone with a GPS app for my favorite golf courses. However, it taxed my phone's battery greatly and was difficult to read in the direct sunlight at times. I figured now was the time to look for alternatives. After researching a good deal on Amazon I settled on the VPRO500 from TecTecTec. Now, truth be told, I am usually a frugal guy. But I don't just buy the lowest priced item out there. Plenty of others left reviews stating the pro's and con's of their devices. This particular model came with great ratings at a very reasonable cost. I ordered it and received it swiftly from Amazon. The company sent along a quick email thanking me for my purchase - a nice gesture. I just took it out on the course and compared it to my phone GPS and they were essentially the same readings. But the VPRO is wicked fast at finding the exact range to target. I also liked that I could point at many different objects on the course and get a yardage reading to those objects. The unit comes with a nice zippered case and it is easy to slide the rangefinder in and out. I ordered the black model and the case has some nice yellow piping on it, making it easy to find in the dark recesses of the golf cart. The unit seems durable (but I haven't had it long enough to know how long it will last). It is super easy to use. So far, it works much better than my golf game! Maybe the TecTecTec people will come up with a solution for my game as well.

I bought this rangefinder during a previous Amazon Prime Day. I’m an extremely avid golfer and got tired of relying on using my playing partners rangefinders. In all the times I used this product, I found it terribly difficult to lock into the flag, even in the correct mode. It routinely picked up trees and other objects beyond the green. Even when I got what I believed to be a “accurate” distance, I would reshoot just to confirm as I had little confidence that it was correct. Standing on the tee box of a par 3, everyone in my group would get a yardage within a yard or two of each other. This rangefinder was always 3 or more yards off when I finally got it to lock onto the flag (usually 10 tries, rarely less). Now, the rangefinder is completely trash. The digits do not fully illuminate. I have tried brand new Energizer and Duracell lithium batteries and it does not rectify the problem. Clearly the unit has become totally inoperable. I wish TecTecTec would send me a newer version and change my mind about their products but based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this product to anyone that relies on an accurate golf yardage. **Edit: From reading other reviews, it sounds like the issue that I’m having with the numbers fading out is extremely common. One suggestion that someone submitted was to remove the battery from the unit for several days and place the unit in a warm area to “dry out”. I have found that this worked to some extent but once the battery is back in the unit for any length of time, the numbers begin to fade again. For this and the reasons above, I will still not recommend this to any golfer. Update 3/2024: I got a Bushnell Rangefinder. This thing is incredible. Reaffirming that my money would have been better spent on a Bushnell from the beginning rather than this TrashTrashTrash.

I had previously tried using a Bushnell V3 (I think) while golfing with a friend one round. I was skeptical to try a cheaper version but I rolled the dice with the TecTecTec VPRO500. I couldn't be happier with this product!! It is definitely a GREAT buy! As far as I can tell this does everything the Bushnell does. While researching I found some reviews about objects behind the pin distorting the reading, if it does that for me (which it will for you if there's a bunch of trees behind the flag) I just aim at the bottom of the flag and pick up my yardage a few yards short by shooting the green and it gets me close enough. I've never not been able to get the distance down to within a yard or two no matter where or what I'm aiming at. Bunker about a buck seventy out, damn better club up or down depending on the hole and your lie. If you need anything more exact may I suggest hiring a professional caddie to follow you around the course I'm an +18 handicap or a bogey golfer basically. My golfing buddy is a +6 golfer and we love using this. This Rangefinder works great for any skill level! For me, I know my clubs and it's helpful to know if I'm 140-145 yards away; a little wind at my back... cool grab a pitching wedge; breeze in my face... cool grab a 9 iron and don't crush the ball. Super helpful on par 4's and 5's for your 2nd and 3rd shots, so damn helpful. Anything inside of 100 yards is all feel and control of your wedges but even then its nice to know if your 45 yards or 60 yards out so you can get the right feel for the swing and this tool does it! This rangefinder will get you exact yadage you want in any circumstances. If you're an aspiring handicap shaver like me, or if you are tired of always going long or coming up short and only play on the weekends but don't want to spend the big bucks on a rangefinder this is the perfect match for you!! You will not be disappointed.

Extremely happy with my purchase of this rangefinder. I have been using it with a friend who has a higher priced rangefinder and our to the pin distances are with in a yard. I am finding it very easy to lock onto the flag (in flag seeker mode)you line up left or right of the flag then pan across the flag and it will give you distance to the flag. The case is very well made and it has a strap to hold the case closed so you do not have to zipper it closed with each use. It also has adjustment for the the lens and is very easy to get the right focus even with glasses, and am still able to read the yardage in the rangefinder.
