I ordered these when I realized they would let me more easily rinse grains and legumes that I was trying to sprout and cook. They came so quickly that I was able to complete the process with the batch of rice and red beans I had started sprouting. Parboiling rice for five minutes and draining at the beginning of cooking is recommended for reducing the arsenic load, and these made that a breeze. I was concerned that small things would get caught in the holes and be hard to clean, but I did not find that to be the case. These have been through the dishwasher run twice and each time came out with no debris caught in them, and they rinsed easily after use. They come with a guarantee of durability for two years, and claim to be commercial-kitchen ready and designed to be passed down through generations. I have some inherited kitchenware that is older than I am, so I appreciate that aspect of being built to last. This was my first attempt to sprout rice, and while my outcome was questionable, it wasn't due to the mesh size. It was perfect for the task. A week ago, I didn't know that this existed, and now I feel it's joined the indispensables in my kitchen. I'm glad that it came in a set of two, because I wouldn't have thought that I needed two of them until I saw this option. I used the smaller one for my rice, the larger one for the beans, and the handles allowed me to suspend them over bowls for draining. They are lightweight but sturdy, and fit in my stack of strainers like they've always been there. In spite of the small holes, they do not retain water, but drain quickly. I usually don't comment on affordability, because I feel that's such a personal decision, but given their quality and utility, I think these were well worth the money. In a world of items that seem designed to break, wear out, become unusable, if these are as good as the manufacturer seems to believe they are, then I have brought this set into circulation knowing they will be used long after I am done with them. That's a good feeling, from my perspective. Unhesitating recommend.

I love this thing. I'm using it to replace all my sifting and straining things that use screen which inevitably comes loose from its rim. This does not. It is firm and very easy to clean. I haven't had anything get stuck in the holes and I've used it for months. Maybe I should look for a smaller one too. Buy it NOW you'll love it!

I am getting away from all Plastics around food. I upgraded from my ancient plastic colander to this stainless one and I am very pleased. Safer, easier to clean, perfect size.

I bought this mainly to wash rice and thought it was mesh, which it is not. It does the job, but calling it a rice strainer is a bit of a stretch. Some rice gets stuck in the holes and some smaller grains can fall through. That said, it works well enough that I kept it. It’s a great size for pasta, fruit, vegetables and plenty of other things, and it fits perfectly in my Lazy Susan. It’s sturdy and versatile enough that it may end up being the only colander I need.

This colander has been the perfect replacement n upgrade to my old plastic colander. Drains really well n I do not find excess water at the bottom of the colander... like I had in my old one. Would recommend. Good value.

I'm officially at that age where I get excited about a sturdy colander. I have been wanting a good colander that I could hopefully use for decades. But I've been putting it off for years and just using the cheap plastic ones. After I managed to bend my last one and cracked it in half, I went on the hunt for a good colander. I'll admit that I was being extra careful choosing one. I wanted one that is sturdy, metal, won't rust and one that sits up off the bottom of the sink a bit. We all know why that's important. Haha. I found this set and a few others and read through the reviews. This set looked the best to me, so I ordered it and I'm very satisfied with them.
