Are these hats unisex?

I think they'll look good on women. I initially bought for my husband (no, his name is not Walter) but I tried it since he didn't like it and he thought I looked good in it. I have silver gray hair and the gray hat works for my coloring. Hat is very warm btw.

Thick is a relative term. Two layers. The inside layer is fleece-like and comfortable. The outer yarn layer's is tightly knitted in an interesting design. Both layers helped keep in warm during the Chicago area windy winters. The hat does provide a relatively good barrier against wind.

Will this fit a large head?

I think it will. My head is medium sizeD and it is little bit loose so would be perfect for large head AFAIK
