I had them doing pretty well after over 6 months of on the trail ...
I have already used this system on off-leash hikes over 20 times since I got it earlier this month. I have two large shepherds just over a year old. I hike mountain trails with them off-leash. I had them doing pretty well after over 6 months of on the trail and standard training from the age of 3 months. They did well until they learned to spot the deer, that is! When they did they bolted and were long gone, one time for more than 15 minutes. This was a very dangerous situation as we hike in bear and lion territory with some very steep terrain. I needed a solution. I did some research and decided on the Educator two dog system. It is well-made tool that combines the option to vibrate only, mildly shock the dog (let's be honest, that's what it does, although this isn't as bad as it sounds to some people) and to boost the shock. The shocks are user adjustable from barely perceptible to a fairly strong jolt. I tried it on myself first on my bare arms and legs. On the lowest setting of 1 I couldn't even detect it. At 10 it was a very mild shock. On the highest of 100 it was a decent jolt, although nowhere near traumatic. My 11 year old Godson tried it at 100 and it sure got his attention, but he laughed. My dogs responded well in back yard training with the setting at 8. I set the boost to add 35 (for a total of 43) when on the trail if a deer was spotted. After back yard training we went to the trails, and the first time the dogs spotted a deer on the trail they bolted, I yelled "Here" (a long rising pitch "Here" works better than "Come" for me) with a jolt at 8 and there was no response, I yelled "Here" with a boosted jolt and they both turned right around and came back to me. I consider this tool a potential life saver. Knowing I can hike with my dogs off-leash yet still control them is extremely important. This tool is expensive, but the quality justifies the price. The plastic is very tough, tactilely pleasing and cleanly made. The control buttons and knobs are tight and strong. The water-seals are quality too (I leave the system on when they go in water). I

Best Investment Ever
It's been almost three years now since we purchased this e-collar set, and we still say it's the best 300 dollars we've ever spent. We had two large (100 pound) dogs we frequently walk off-leash in the forest, and after the younger one almost got kicked in the head chasing after a bull elk, we admitted to each other that we needed more instant control than just voice commands. We felt like training failures, but we got over it as soon as we saw how effective and non-traumatic this training tool is (when used in moderation, obviously). We tried it on ourselves first, just to see what we were doing to our boys (fair's fair, after all), and at 15-20, it's about like getting a static shock from the carpet. Not really painful, but you don't want it to happen again. It's definitely attention getting, which is the point. At the higher settings, it hurts, and I would only ever use those for actual dangerous emergencies. Then again, every dog has a different pain threshold, so using the lowest setting that gets their attention seems reasonable. The range on these collars is excellent, and with a combination of both negative and positive feedback (zap when they ignored the recall command, treat and praise when they came back right away), we had control back over both dogs simultaneously within two days. The younger one went galloping after a herd of elk again on the second day, and with the collar, we were able to get him to stop in his tracks and come running right back to us, even in the face of such massive temptation. The older, naughtier one would tear off to visit the neighbor's girls two miles away if we looked away from him for even a second, and he'd been running away on us during walks for years: this solved that problem forever, and though he never stopped wanting to go over there, he only ever went when we gave him permission after we got these collars. Both dogs were able to roam safely within our line of sight with these collars, and they came back instantly when we called them. After only a few instances of heavy zaps, we were able to set the collars to vibrate, and they usually responded to that warning well. The younger one, who has been trained with his collar since he was about six months old, now has much better recall both with and without the collar. The older one made the connection to the collar almost right away and only ever recalled well with it on (or in structured obedience settings), but he was an uncommonly smart and stubborn dog. The variety in the controls is great: it's easy to switch to a more noticeable zap on the fly if whatever has their attention is more interesting than us, and it's fantastic to be able to have both collars set to different settings on the controller (we barely ever used it on the older boy, but when we needed to, he only responded to a higher setting). The battery life is also perfectly fine. We only ever use it on walks, and these aren't designed for constant use, anyway. Overall, I can only say I wish we'd gotten these collars earlier. Highly recommended with careful and judicial use.

Excellent product
First off, this is the best e-collar that I have had the opportunity to use. I have tried or tested Tri-tronics, Dogtra, and SportDog collars in the past. The Einstein collar is by far the most user friendly and effective design. While the round transmitter is unconventional looking, it has a nice feel in-hand and all of the controls are ergonomically located on the unit. Having the ability to define the amount of boost is very helpful when having a big dog that needs a little extra simulation. And the ability to control the light on the receiver from the transmitter is very useful in low light conditions. Due to the fact that I have a very dominate large dog (100lb+ Pitbull), I was intrigued by the claim that this unit had the highest amount of stimulation of any e-collar on the market. After testing the Einstein collar on both myself and my dog, I can say that the ET-800TS definitely provides ample amounts of simulation. Even with a very stubborn and strong dog in prey drive, I have never had to go above %60 of max power. And for normal low-level training a setting of 12 gets the job done. Now for the best part about Einstein e-collars; outstanding customer service from a US company. I have been tremendously impressed by the level of customer service I have received from Einstein. My first experience was calling the company when I was trying to decide which collar would work best for my circumstance. The customer service representative I talked to was very friendly and spent quite a long amount of time on the phone with me. He took the time to go over all of the different models/features and answer all of my question. After I purchased the ET-800TS model, I called the company again to inquire about smaller electrodes for my short haired dog. The nice lady I spoke to on that occasion informed me that Einstein carries a micro sized electrode that does not normally ship with the stock collar, and she priority mailed a set of them free of charge. On the last occasion, I contacted the company through the main email address listed on the Einstein website about a battery issue I thought was occurring with the receiver. Within 24 hours, I got an email back from the president of the company addressing my concerns. The next business day, Einstein shipped me out a brand new receiver with prepaid return postage for the old unit. All I can say is WOW! For most companies, it is difficult to just get a live person to talk to you on the phone. Einstein definitely goes above and beyond in the customer service department. If you are on the fence about what brand of e-collar to choose, I would absolutely suggest Einstein. The unit is comparable or better then the other name brands, but with a far superior customer service department.

Awesome product, even better customer service
I use this collar for off leash training. That being said it's really one used for a few hours a day at best, and less since my dog is well trained. The quality of this product is good, however it did have a few issues. I can also verify it's very water resistant, at least the collar component. While it's not often fully submerged, it gets wet a lot, and the issues I had didn't seem to come from water. One of my complaints is the choices you are forced to make, mainly with the tone and vibration. It's one or the other. I would prefer to have both at the same time since 90% of my use is with vibration. It would be nice to have tone and vibe at the same time. To be fair there are not many collars on the market that provide this. I do not use stimulation levels often nor boost but they are nice to have when needed. Keep in mind ecollars are only tools that do not work miracles or replace a solid training foundation. You still have to put in the work and use it correctly or you will likely create more problems and/or trauma. So I would recommend reading a few well rated ecollar training books before attempting to use them or you will likely be hiring a professional. My collar worked fine for about 20 months with light use. I started to notice a buzzing or rattling sound with the vibration feature. It sounded like something was loose inside the unit. Shortly after that the rheostat dial would not go below 14 on the transmitter which is higher than my working stimulus level. I was pleased to find out that the unit has a two year warranty that had not expired. When I called ecollar, they were absolutely fantastic. The lady was courteous, easy to understand (not always the case today), and only asked for my serial number and what was wrong with my unit. She sent a brand new unit with no questions asked. The new unit showed up in a few days with a pre-paid return label for my old unit. By today's standards, fantastic customer service. While I wished it had held up better, these things do take a beating. My transmitter gets caught on all kinds of stuff and the rheostat dial sticks up a bit which can get caught on doorways and seatbelts. A two year warranty that is upheld with no questions is great IMO.

"The Boss" 2 Dog E-Collar 1 Mile Big Dog Remote Trainer
There were a few changes to this collar that I wasn't expecting. It is now equipped with an Adjustable Boost Level (1 through 60), the old one had Plus 25 Stimulation Booster(nonadjustable). It now has with an ON/OFF button on the collars and remote instead of the magnetic ON/OFF switch. This unit has the highest stimulation on the market, which is an awesome feature when prey drive kicks in. According to the manufacturer the large receiver provides the best low level stimulation of all Educator e-collars. I really like the very bright light on the collars for when we are walking at night. It makes it very easy for drivers to see your dog and I feel like my dogs have their own little flash light. The instruction book was a little hard to understand, I had an easier time watching a YouTube video. The collars themselves are very wide at 1" and they have a sturdy d-ring attached, that was a big difference from the ยพ" collars with no d-ring that came with my sportdog e-collars. As far as the tapping feature, I will try to adjust to it but for now I'm missing the beep button that I had with my old collars. Overall I love these collars they are a definite step up from my old sportdog stubborn dog unit. Edited to add- as great as this product is I could not get used to one remote for two collars. Our dogs are not always together, sometimes my husband has one and I have the other. I called the manufacture and they suggested that I return the 2 dog system and buy two separate one dog collars, we ended up getting one black set and one orange set. For me it was worth the extra $100 to have a system that works for me and that I love.

Expensive But Worth It If You Want The Best !
This is a great collar and aids in taking your training to the next level. As others may have mentioned, even though this has 100 levels you don't need to use anywhere close to that. Personally on my GSD I keep it very low (in the low teens) and its enough to just give a pause for thought when a critical situation comes up. There is also the vibration option which just buzzes the collar and you can use this as a marker for a good behavior etc which is a nice option. Depending on your level of expertise with dog training, breed, age etc will determine how long it will take to get used to the collar but in my case it was under a week to have this effectively implemented in training and my GSD aware of how the collar works and become acclimatized to it. Again this is not a product that you purchase, turn to high and use for negative behavior. It is a training aid that you use at a very low level in conjunction with your other training (in my case marker training). My only gripes on this is 1) that the battery life is about 2 days or under (if you train with your dog 2-3 times per day and every day of the week). It still uses NiMH batteries and would love to see Li-Ion implemented in this unit. On the plus side you can buy replacement batteries and install yourself should the existing one fail at some point. The last grip is on the case, it seems to have some play on it already (like its coming apart), nothing significant yet but I will watch it and report back. Overall I would highly recommend this product if you are in the market for one and Amazon as always is a great place to buy it from. It is expensive but absolutely the best out there in my opinion at this time.

Superior Quality in All Ways
We have an 8 month old german shepard puppy that we don't have a yard for. There are always walks, but that just wasn't getting him enough exercise. We needed a way to feel secure that he would be safe while not on a leash. With this collar he became accustomed to it very quickly and began to understand commands much more rapidly and with a lot more precision. He will now come with or without the collar on the first time 99% of the time. This is without regard to any distracting activity, dog or person. I think the key here lies in the fact that this collar allows me to communicate with him at exactly the right time to provide positive and negative feedback. Once he understood what I wanted he was more willing and more able to do it. For the collar itself, it has a very long range but we live in a swamp/forested area so testing at a mile is not needed. I have see it work up to 300 yards away through the forest, but I've never had my dog further away than that. As for water proof, the swamp should say it all, the dog goes swimming frequently and it has never had any issues. I also drop the controller frequently and it never has any issues. It is very durable as well, with the test being that he plays rough with other dogs with this on for a couple hours a week and it is still water proof. The little plastic cover for the controller is not that sturdy, but this is just for aesthetics and the controller unit holds up fine. I cycled the batteries full charge and full discharge 3 times as instructed and the battery life for the controller is ~72 hours of being on or ~12 hours of continuous use if turned off when not used. The life for the collar is ~96 hours or ~24 hours of continuous use if turned off when not used. We are on about the 10th charge cycle and I've used it daily for 2 months. If I wasn't an engineer I'd fill this with exclamation marks and adjectives. But in the end, you are the lucky one that found this collar in the midst of all the poorly built collars out there. Only thing to consider is whether you will end up with two dogs and need the 2 collar pack instead. So buy it and know that you are saving money over having to replace a poorly built one every year.

The only one on Amazon that actually works with Large Breeds!
This is the only e-collar that actually works with my Saint berdoodle. The other ones were too small and not enough juice to make my pooch listen. The cool thing about this e-collar is that it only has vibration and tone, along with a super bright light for the night. It's wonderful that it does not shock. However, the vibration is very strong, so use caution. If I use it when he is engaged with another dog, he thinks the other dog is attacking him, and my dog will go on the defense. The instructions warn of this possibly happening. Let me tell you, it sucks! So, I have to use the e-collar before he gets close to another dog, which in itself is a bad idea, because I'm not trying to prevent all behaviors. And, I'm not trying to have him be scared of doing anything. Overall, this is the best one I've found on the market. And with Amazon, I was able to return the other ones for free. Thank you Jeffrey Bezos!
