Review: Excellent - Excellent Review: great book - I've read some negative reviews about the book and must disagree. The problems are hard, but each of them covers more than one topic that is present on FE. I found the book being a great review for material balances and combustion. Also, mass transfer is a bit hard, but if you solved these problems and understand them, you definitely will pass the exam

Book only contains sample questions. Book is a little thin for the price. Should have more problems to solve, some more background information, or be lower price. But there are not many other options for takers of the test. Some questions seemed overly complex. A 1 page description of the problem to read through, then some questions on that data. I get 3 minutes per question on the FE exam, and can barely read the 1 page problem description in 3 minutes.

Did the job
looking for exam questions with answers. this did the job. would perefer to have come context/background/review to the questions, but good enough.

Problems are MUCH harder than they are on the FE
In case you aren't noticed, this is a book full of problems and solutions. There are no sections or discussion like there are in the general exam book. The problems in this book are much, much more difficult than the ones you'll encounter on the real test. Many of these problems require iterative solutions or advanced graphical methods (you're given data and have to graph it yourself - you will NEVER need to do that on the actual test). That being said, this is really the only thing out there to help you practice for the ChE section of the FE. I went through these problems and was well prepared. Too prepared!

Great preparation--I passed easily using this
I used both this book and the FE Review Manual (I took the chemical section in the afternoon). Although this book doesn't have as much detail as the FE Review Manual (it doesn't have review sections), and sometimes the problems are worked out differently than I was taught in class, I still found this book very helpful. The chemical section problems were very similar to these problems (if not a little easier) and I felt very prepared. I highly recommend using this book to study.
