Started off working and 24 hours later, it bombed out!
First Review after getting this thing in the mail:Well, after reading all the reviews on the 3rd party Battery Grips for all brand cameras in general and for the Nikon D7000 specifically, I decided to go with the Meike brand. It seemed to have the least amount of negative reviews of the rest not only on Amazon but also across the internet. Here's what I see at first glance:The item arrived in record time to have been shipped from Irwindale California to me on the East Coast in 4 days. Just for the record, I ordered two items from Amazon on this order, the Battery Grip supplied by and shipped from a 3rd party vender from coast to coast and I also ordered a spare Nikon EN-EL15 battery which Amazon stated was "In Stock" and "Supplied by and Shipped From Amazon". Four days after the order was placed and the Battery Grip arrived Coast to Coast to me, Amazon has yet to get their two brain cells in sync to ship out their "In Stock and Supplied by and Shipped From Amazon" Nikon Battery. I have had this happen before where Amazon lied through their teeth about an item being In Stock and Supplied by and Shipped by Amazon. They lie about this in order to get you to go on and do the purchase of items that you would go looking for elsewhere if Amazon told the truth and said they Do NOT have the product in Stock or that it is Supplied By and Shipped from some place way out there somewhere. Watch Amazon refuse this review to save face.Back to the Battery Grip. It arrived in a box which was placed in a soft shipping envelope. USPS had crushed it of course but no apparent damage to the grip. First inspection showed that this was not a "Meike" brand grip. As a matter of fact, it is a No Brand Name Grip. Where the picture of the Grip on Amazon distinctly shows the name "Mieky" on the top of the grip, the one that I got has No Name on it. The USPS crushed box that it came in did not have any Brand Name on it either. However, they were proud enough to say that it was made in China. So, just because you want to order a specific brand and even though the Amazon Ad states that you are ordering a specific brand means nothing. Maybe they take their cue from the way Amazon does business when they lie about an item being "In Stock" and "Supplied by and Shipped By Amazon".What's in the USPS Crushed Box:1. No Brand Name Battery Grip.2. Camera Battery tray3. 6xAA Battery Tray4. Brilliantly folded sheet of paper with instructions in 9,999 languagesOkay, so how about the quality of the No Name Brand Mieky Look-A-Like.Pros:One of big complaints on these was where the tightening wheel flops and rattles after the unit is mounted and tightened. This one does not. The wheel has a firm feel to it when turning it and does not rattle around after the unit is attached.Another big complaint was that the main and secondary wheels are programmed backwards or opposite from the ones on the camera body. The ones on this unit are the same as the ones on the camera body. The Grip attaches very secure and solid. No space between Camera body and grip and no movement between the two. A Good Secure Mount. No Problem with the electrical connection. All buttons and dials work as they should.Cons:The only visible negatives would be were they used a chimpanzee to glue the outer rubberized grip material onto the plastic frame. Glue is oozed out all along the edges. The little turn latch on the battery inset tray(s) is EXTREAMLY fragile and must be turned with CARE or it will break off. I had a heads up on this from reading other negative reviews on this specific point on all brands of 3rd party battery Grips and made sure I was careful with this. The Chinese really went bargain basement when they made that little plastic finger latch. One Penny's worth of attention would have beefed this up to a No Problem Level but who said there was any thought behind this.To Be Seen:Some reports say that the lettering on the AE-L/AF-L function button wears off after a few days. Will report on this later. Some reports say that the unit totally stops working or partially stops working after a week or two of use. Will report on this later. One report on a Battery Grip shorting out a camera (Canon) and toasting it. My Nikon didn't get toasted so, good so far (Knock on Wood).Right now, I'm going to give this thing 3 stars. Would have been 4 stars if it had been the brand name I ordered and that was shown and stated in the Amazon Ad and would have been 5 stars if the Chinese would have spent an additional Penny and made a little beefier thumb latch on the battery tray. This review is...... a work in progress and will be amended and added to as I use this thing....Addition 1 to Review:I paid $33 for this. Now I see that they popped the priced up to $39. Maybe they are trying save up enough money to beef up that little sissy thumb latch on the battery trays.Addition 2 to Review:Today, 24 hours after putting this thing to the test, it has gone Belly-Up. The front and back control wheels, the AF-L/AE-L button and the rear menu control joy-button no longer work. All that remains working right now is shutter release button. If you jiggle the Lock On/Off switch, you get intermitten operation of the lost controls but not for long before they totally quit again. Will be moving from 3 stars to 1 star and start the process of getting this lemon returned.Addition 3 to Review:Well it cost me to return the lemon, close to $6 for postage. So I end up with no product in hand and am short $6 for getting involved with this supplier.Recommendation... DO NOT PURCASE FROM THIS SUPPLIER

Dial does not work! :(
I bought this item and first off I received a "Neewer" brand. I fits nicely on my Nikon D7000 and feels good in my hands. While I am shooting, using the grip, I tried to increase my shutter speed using the dial and my shutter speed actually decreased. I tried multiple times both increasing and decreasing my shutter speed and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. For the money... it is alright. I would have liked all of the features to work correctly, that would have been nice.

Works perfectly
I have been using this for a while now and it works quite well. My only reason for not giving a 5 star review is that this device works in coordination with the battery that is already in the body of the camera. I prefer the grips that allow you access to both batteries at any time. I often do time lapse projects that take 12 hours or more and it is nice to be able to rotate your batteries as needed.

good grip, great price!
Good and secure fit, works as stated. Vertical grip works good with no issues. Not having owned the Nikon version I wouldn't know that there's a difference. For the price difference you can pick up a 50mm 1.8 prime. Snail mail even delivered a day early.

Be mindful!
Wouldn't make the appropriate connection to use!

worth the money
i bought a vivitar battery to go along with it, it was certainly worth the cost to extend my battery life and it makes shooting vertically more convenient.

Great!
A little light compared to the NIkon version but I have had great success with this grip and had none of the power drain problems some of the other models have had.Now this is NOT a all weather waterproof grip that turns your camera into a D4, but I think for the moenyt difference, you can't go wrong.

Meike Professional Battery Grip
The grip fits good on the camera. The finish matches very close the the the finish on the camera body. The build quility is very good, but I would like to see a bit smoother operating controls.
