Solved the problem with a cheap PC headset
My son got a USB headset with a 3.5mm cable. We didn't know this, but apparently the USB port was for lighting the headset itself, while the one 3.5mm jack was for sound. His PC doesn't have a Mic/Sound combo port, so as a result, he could (a) hear, or (b) speak, but not both. This dongle solved the problem. It's a good buy, but with the cost we could've gotten him a better headset. Still, the adapter worked, so we're happy.

Great Y-Connection at a Great Price
Does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well. I use this daily now for a myriad of things, from Skype conversations to online classes. (The only gripe I have is that at certain points it seems to forget the mic input is plugged in; this is however *only* after removing the connection and plugging it back in very soon afterwards, and it may be a software issue rather than the connection itself. It always works initially, and I can usually get it to respond within a minute by playing around with the order in which I connect them.)For those without a microphone it's a fantastic alternative, especially if you have headphones with a built-in mic (i.e. bundled with your android/smartphone), and it's given online discussion new life. I'd heartily recommend this Y-connection, and the company that makes it! The two cord-ends are clearly marked to allow one to see which is which, and they're sturdy enough that you can "feel" when they click home on their respective lines. I'll certainly be ready to buy from the same company next time.

but would like to use both of the headsetโs features for their ...
The Maeline 3.5mm Headphone Splitter is a solid product from Maeline. The ideal user for this is somebody who owns several microphone headset combinations that only have a single 3.5mm input jack, but would like to use both of the headsetโs features for their computerโs as opposed to phones and console games. I rate the Maeline Headphone Splitter a 4 out of 5 Stars, because it did function properly and last me a long amount of time, but I did have a few issues that I encountered that were easily fixed. After buying a multitude of products of this sort throughout my life, my headphone splitters from Maeline have lasted me the longest and I have purchased several of them in the past. I value audio quality, durability, and consistency in my listening, so this product really knocked it out of the park. The audio quality from Maeline was better than other products I had bought in the past, and really made me want to continue to use their splitters continually, and thankfully the durability helped out that as well because I have only had to buy a few in the past. While I do value consistency, my only issue encountered was a small short in one of the cables, but this proved to me mostly irrelevant under standard usage.Overall, I think that the Maeline Headphone Splitter is a very good product and I would recommend another person to purchase this over other alternatives. Audiophiles and casual users alike can benefit from the product.

Works perfectly, no loss in quality and now we can use the headphones we want for both computer and smartphones.
I bought Bose QuietComfort 25 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones for Samsung and Android Devices, Black - Wired for my husband as he travels alot and really wanted the noise canceling they offer along with the great sound quality and they do work great for that. However if you want to use them (or any smartphone headset with just the one port) on your computer for voice and audio you'll need a splitter like this Maeline. We tried the Maeline 3.5 Female to 2 Male Gold Plated (fancy!) Headphone splitter last night and it worked perfectly. No loss of quality of sound for the speakers or through the mic of his headset. Highly recommended for anyone else who finds themselves with a headphone set they love that only has the one connecter and you need to split the mic from the headphones for use on a computer.

A very good splitter adpater
I just build my first PC and noticed that the PC case has the microphone and audio separate. It tried to use my headset and discord, i can only hear but cannot talk with my mic. Luckily i noticed i needed a Headphone Splitter Adapter, bought this product and it works great. Really recommend it

The Adapter is Finicky
I ordered this adapter so that I could talk in game with friends. Last night, I plugged it in and had a bit of an issue with getting it to work, but unplugging and plugging it back in at all connections helped. This morning, I got back in game and realized that I had no sound. I opened a Youtube tab so that I could troubleshoot my sound with a video constantly playing. It took some troubleshooting to find that the output audio cable will only give me sound if it is turned a specific way in the port. It is currently working, but I expect to have more problems in the future.
