How would i flatten this stone?

If you don’t want to invest in a diamond plate to flatten the stone, you can get a marble or granite 12”x12” floor tile from Home Depot or Lowe’s to use as a base. Then get some sheets of wet/dry sandpaper. Wet the sandpaper, place it on the tile, then use figure 8’s and circular motion to flatten the surface of the stone.

Where can I get more of the little slurry stones that come with this?

For Japanese whetstones they are called a nagura stone. Sharpening Supplies out of Wisconsin is a good company to do business with. They sell a Suehiro 1000 grit nagura stone for under $20 and it is pretty thick so it should last a while. Also contact them and they are quick answering for help. These stones are for slurry making and general dressing of the stone.

Is this good for s30v steel?

Yes, though you may also want a more coarse stone and maybe a finer stone to go with it. I start with 350 grit then use this stone to finish the edge. Some people will go up to 6,000 or 12,000, but I find the 1,000 to be good enough to finish the edge.
