No. These are heavier. I would say they are in between glass plates like Corelle and stoneware plates. For camping I would go with Corelle or plastic. Target has a bunch that’s fairly cheap.

what are they made of? do they get hot to the touch in microwave? right now my plates get so hot after 1min i have to use a hot pad to get them out.

They are Porcelain. A different type of material than just plain ceramic. They are heated at a very high heat so they will withstand the microwave heat very well and dishwasher if they don't have a type of decoration that would not be recommended for the microwave/dishwasher. What Is It Made Out Of?

They’re ceramic. Just like the ones you’d buy in a box at say, Walmart. Theyre really nice. They don’t look cheap or elegant, more in between, like every day dishes. Hope that helps. I love mine.
