If you use colored pencils, it seems that in the details you end up with a fine line or two not where you want them. In my case it is the eyebrows, lashes & hair that frequently need to be "groomed" to remove the one that went too long or not in the right space. This little eraser is a life saver. You can direct it at the spot & not worry about erasing things around the area that you wish to leave intact. It is also excellent for going back & creating strands in the hair. You don't want a color block for hair, you want to be able to see strands to make it appear realistic. With this you can run it on the edge from root to tip erasing a fine line directed where you need it. It will remove the top layer only with light pressure so you end up with layers underneath that are a different color showing through. While not as often as portraits, I also like mandelas. How frustrating with the intricate designs to accidentally edge over the line! With this eraser it is a snap to clean up marks outside where you intended. I thought when I first purchased the round one, that I would being going through the eraser super quick and would need refills. Much to my surprise almost a year later I am just now needing to replace the eraser inside. As you are removing "details" it just doesn't take up much of the eraser. Occasionally with a vivid color, the end of the eraser will hold the color and if you don't work it off or snip it off, the color will transfer to the next thing you color. So take care that you have just eraser and not pigment on the end. I ended up purchasing the square and round ones and am so glad I did. I use them all the time and hate to think how much time would be wasted but for this little Tombow eraser. As a side note, It does a great job with all the colored pencils whether oil or wax based

OMG! What a great eraser for color pencils. I tried 6 brands/styles before finding out about this. It works quite well on dark colors, better than the others. I particularly like the rectangle shape for getting close to picture outlines and into small places that I think the round tip wouldn't do as well. It seems to last a long time and so it's worth the price.

Great eraser for cleaning up small mistakes when using my colored pencils, its rectangular shape is the perfect size for a small goof-up going out of lines, to blend colors, or to remove a wax bloom. They work well with wax or colored pencils, do not leave behind a lot of dust/eraser trash like most of my pencil erasers and doesn’t hurt most of the surfaces I tend to color on like my Art Eclect Color Cards or most color books. Great value that comes with refills, just wish it had a rubber gripper for a better grip..plastic seems a tad cheap for the brand and quality of the eraser. So far has been very durable otherwise and definitely recommend.

----------Now-------- 2023 I tried a friend's Tomboy Mono Zero Eraser at an Art meet-up. Yep, I dissed the eraser there too. I do not have eraser-super-powers but their Tomboy went to work and did its job. In my mitt. Me. I erased with it. Others like/love the little eraser and carry it too. They thought I was weird for hating on it. "Everyone loves this puppy." and "It's part of my everyday kit." then "No problems for me. Love it." It erases the HB and the B flavors of graphite best. It works well with cheap-o paper and the best grades too----just because a paper has a fancy name or long reputation the proof of greatness is in any paper's performance. And my ham-fisted influences, just sayin'. I Like the Tomboy Mono Zero --- 4-stars worth. -----------Before-------- My Edit This is what I reported the first eraser I bought-- Does NOT erase any grade of graphite on any sort of paper. USELESS-- which means it should not be named an 'eraser'. It is Junk. I will question buying anything from Tombow -- ever.

I did a test with both mono zero erasers, this rectangular one and the smaller round too on a Scribble of dark 8B, 6B, middle toned 4B, 2B of wet HB Faber Castelle aquarelle graphite) pencils and it erased well with one swipe. It’s harder to erase soft leaded (higher number is darker with the letter B like 8B, 6B) pencils because they’re darker softer and once wet with water and spread around, dried they’re even harder to erase But it worked! These rectangle ones are a about twice the size of the smaller round ones but it like having the straight edge for thinning lines. For example if you’re drawing teeth with a fat line of a revalue pencil, using a Lighter lead (darkest to lightest: HB, F, 2H-10H ) and then thinning the line with this eraser, it doesn’t look so jack o lantern like with a thinner 0.3mm width or a thinner line with this eraser. You cam also lift out highlights. Clicks away like a mech pencil and looks sleek on black. The round is silver so it’s easy to grab the right one at a quick glance. 5 stars

Bought the silver colour barrel as I wanted something that didn't look like an eraser. Very handy. Precise erasing.

I'm still learning how to draw, but I am convinced that this eraser greatly increased my learning speed. Now I can have fine control over which lines I erase instead of using a large eraser for larger areas and then have to redraw the whole thing. It's simple to use like a mechanical pencil. I press on the end and the eraser comes out the other end. If it comes out too far, it's a bit tricky to use, so I press and hold the button and I can press the eraser back in the tool. It's not quite as good at erasing as the black muji eraser or even a kneaded eraser, but where it excels is the precision work and finishing touches at the end of a sketch. The other thing that kind of bugs me is that the eraser crumbs tend to stay on the eraser and can get in the way so I have to remember to remove them as I go along. On the whole, I'm happy with it. I like that it comes with refills (although it is lasting longer than expected). It's good for beginners like me and I imagine it will be one of my favourite tools for years to come.

Una goma bastante precisa cuya funcion no es eliminar por completo, sino detallar. Es muy buena para agregar luces a los dibujos, en lo personal la utilizó para planos y láminas debido a su rectangularidad cuya forma facilita trazar lineas borrando precisamente, Y para resaltar o dar luces en en algunos dibujos ¡Es bastante buena!. El precio es excelente tomando en cuenta que es de los pocos borradores retráctiles pequeños que puedes encontrar en México a excelente precio. A los que ya estamos familiarizados con la marca es una excelente opción, aunque sus repuestos no son tan accesibles pero este pack incluye 2 y no se te van a acabar tan pronto... a excepción de que le utilices para borrar todo. Yo no lo vería como buena opción, ya que hay opciónes más asequibles para ese tipo de uso; como Stadler, pentel o algunas otras marcas más baratas al igual que sus repuestos, incluso su hermana mayor la mono knock cuyos repuestos son más grandes y absorben mejor el grafito, Pero en si es una buena compra.

It’s good for erasing fine areas. It would be better if the eraser was softer though, it’s a bit hard on paper vs the usual soft regular-size eraser.
