Good looking lock that my locksmith endorsed. The mechanism is a bit unexpected for me, but easy enough to get used to; if you use a key, make sure the knob is vertical. If you use the locking button to lock, you just press the schlage button, turn the knob and wait for the sound that it has locked. Setting the new code was easy too. I like this better than the smart one I had on my last home, even though it doesn't connect to wifi

I replaced my existing Schlage deadbolt with this lock about two weeks ago and I am very pleased with it. First, the installation was very easy due mainly to the fact that the lock is designed to fit in the same hole as an existing deadbolt, so there were no additional holes to drill. I did not change out the striker plate, so that saved a little time, and it looks like the existing bolt would have worked but I changed it with the new one anyway. 2nd, the instructions are well written and easy to follow. 3rd, and most important, it worked perfectly once it was installed. It is a very clever product. I was concerned that the 9v battery would have to provide the current to a motor to retract the bolt and I'd be replacing the battery all the time, but thats not how it works at all. The battery simply causes the thumb turn to engage and light the keyboard, your hand does the work of retracting the bolt. So the battery should last a long long time. There is a manual lock w/keys in case the battery dies. But best of all, I found it very easy to program my own custom code (and erase the codes it came with for better security) and now my family can come and go without needing a key. I can program it with a temporary code if someone will be watching the house while we are on vacation, then delete the code when we return. This is MUCH better than giving keys out to people over the years, then wondering how many people have a keys to your front door. I even showed my 85 year old mother-in-law how to use it (I know, I know: why would I do THAT?), and she has no problems using it. I used the same code numbers as our garage door, so its easy for everyone to remember. It comes with a pair of keys which you use if the battery goes dead, which is possible but should never be an issue because the lock alerts you when the battery gets low. Still, I plan to rekey the cylinder to match the other door keys so we dont have to worry about yet another key. If you don't want to re-key the lock, you can just put one of the keys in a hide-a-key rock somewhere in the yard. Bottom line: Schlage is known for high quality locks, and this device is no exception. If you already have a Schalge deadbolt and your are looking for more convenience and security, then I recommend this lock.

When I ordered my first Keyless Entry Code it was used, so I returned the package and was immediately sent out a replacement on the next business day. I didn’t do the set up the same day until yesterday, which was 2 to 3 days later, however, the key knob kept turning with the key and would did not unlock or lock , and I followed the example to a T and it still did not work. I’ve then proceeded to do a second return, and then I got a message that says “ How can we make this right,” so there were options recommended to contact support, watch a video, and etc) so I chose to watch the video. I decided to uninstall and start over by following the video and it turned out that I indeed had missed a step. After the set-up was completed, and I created my own personal Keyless Entry Code the door would not lock after entering the code, but the code was working. To my surprise, it turned out that when the door tried to lock after entering the code, the lock was hidden against the plate on the side of the door post when you lock your door so now I have to get someone to come in to fix that issue, but other than that if you follow the video, everything will work out fine. I am 100% satisfied with the results that I took the time to watch the video carefully to complete the installation. I’m glad that I did not give up and I kept trying and it was worth the trouble. 👍🏾👍🏾 that Plate was the problem and this was caused after I had my front door replaced years ago with a new door, so the issue was on my end. However, my experience was still amazing to me because I found out what the exact problem was , it was worth watching the video examining on my end to figure out what the exact issue was and why the code did not work after I said the code to lock the door. Try resetting the code again and come to realize and after watching the video a few times more , once you enter your four digit pin number that you create for yourself then you have to turn the knob/the key knob after intern your code to lock the door and then you repeat the same steps when unlocking the door. I can't believe we went so long using keys like cavemen. In the olden days of last week, if we wanted to start our car to run for a minute or two because the latest polar vortex has swept in from the north, we had to remember to bring another set of keys to lock the deadbolt or we would have to shut the car off then go back and lock the door and then restart the car... madness. This all changed this past weekend. I got up the courage to enlarge the holes on our door so I could swap out the deadbolt for this glorious piece of technology. The instructions were fine, the only confusion was the back plate that is inside the house has a cam that must be vertical or the lock will not work. Once it was installed, the programming was very straight forward and easy to do. You can have 19 different user codes which can be disabled at any time. The keypad DOES light up when you push a key which is great for when you run late and forget to leave the outside light on. The action on this lock is a neat idea as well. You have to manually turn the deadbolt to lock and unlock (reviews I have read say this helps prolong the battery life) If the keypad is not engaged, this knob spins freely. To lock, you just have to push the Schlage button, which engages the knob and allows you to lock the door. To unlock, key in your code to engage it, then twist to unlock, too easy. Over all I am very happy with this and wish I had gotten one long ago. It is a heavy well built lock that has a bunch of great reviews around the web. The only negative thing I can say is that it only comes with one key. I wish it had two, but I can get another cut easily.

We have had these installed for a few months now and they are so easy to use and easy to lock. They look great on the door, are easy to program, easy to install, and they are very sturdy. I would definitely buy these again if I ever need to
