Works well hold a lot.

Easy use and set up. Lights show the progress. Really good charger. Came a like cracked but no biggie. Simply fragile case and I was not careful. Not sureIf it's slow or fast charging but it gets there.

Good charger

Battery grip for my Nikon D750 Arrived today. Bought this charger & batteries for photography. Have not yet used it taking pictures. Did a functions test. The grip fits right and tightens properly. I decided to test rechargeable batteries. The battery charger charged the batteries quickly and powers the camera well enough for my test. I will try to give an update on the performance in a few days. I will say that a wall adapter is needed to charge the batteries properly and quickly. Using a USB port in an outlet was too slow and may take hours to charge. I recommend using quality batteries such as Energizer, Duracell, Eneloop.

An excellent charger that works very well

This charger may be inexpensive but it's actually a really good deal for the price. It provides two charging outputs based on the number of inserted batteries. 1-4 batteries: 500mAh | 5-8: 250mAhIf I'm in need of a quicker charge I'll just insert 1-4 and the charging times are half the time of 5-8 batteries. The charging time depends on the capacity of your NiMH batteries. I use 2800mAh AA and 1100mAh AAA EBL high capacity LSD (Low Self Discharge) batteries with this device.I find the output current acceptable and preferable. The higher the current you put into batteries when charging the more damage is done over time and they'll be much hotter during charging - contributing to even more damage. Lower currents, or trickle charging batteries, will allow them to reach their full rated cycle count. While it seems inconvenient to have to wait hours to charge, just remember that it's worth the wait in saved batteries.I'm not sure what the "damaged" battery fix feature does. We don't currently have any "damaged" batteries and the manual states this feature is only for batteries that were deeply discharged beyond the acceptable limits. I guess if this ever happens to us we'll see if that mode actually does anything. This charger heats up a good bit when charging batteries. Keep it on a solid surface to allow the heat to dissipate better. Don't place it on your carpet. Put it on a table or something with good airflow. What I do to compensate for the longer charging times is to have enough batteries on hand that I always have some ready and charged to swap into my devices while I charge the depleted ones. It's common and easy to find LSD (Low Self Discharge) NiMH batteries and I highly recommend people only purchase batteries with low self discharge. For the brand of batteries we use, EBL, we find that the claimed discharge over time is accurate. We use our batteries and swap them often enough that we don't know what that figure would be over very long time frames, but it will vary based on brand and quality.I highly recommend EBL batteries with this charger. They have some of the highest capacities available and a 1,200 cycle count which is above average for their capacity. Well worth the cost and they don't cost much more than cheapo ones. I expect them to last close to the claimed 1,200 cycles, partly thanks to the low charging currents offered by this charger. You can check and measure capacity and charge level with a multi-meter and some electronics knowledge (which I have).Overall this charger is great! Word of caution: don't keep the batteries inserted for long periods of time after they complete charging. A few hours or waiting overnight to take them out isn't a big deal breaker. But don't leave them in their for days or weeks on end. This charger is not designed to handle that and could lead to damage or reduced cycle count. This is also clearly laid out in the manual. My only complaint with this charger is that it heats up quite a bit when charging, especially if charging 8 AA at once. Other than that the smart chip feature appears to be real and works very well.

Very Good Battery Chargers 👌🏽

These AA/AAA rechargeable battery chargers work very well, I bought a 2nd one! Great price. The thing that sets these apart from many other chargers is you don't have to charge in pairs or fours. Many work that way and cannot charge one battery or an uneven number. It is a bit slow when using a USB port. There is no yellow indicator to show charging progress, so the led lights go from red right to green, but that's not a problem. These are so easy and simple to use! Recommend 👍🏼

Unsure of performance with multiple brands of batteries, possibly defective unit

While this battery charger is nice to have to be able to recharge more than a few batteries at a time, I am not certain that it is not damaging some batteries or charging them oddly. It may not be the charger's fault at all, or it could be. I bought this charger in 2019. I had some Energizer rechargeable batteries that were brand new at that time, and I did not buy the Energizer brand charger to recharge them. I previously had Energizer rechargeable batteries and a couple of Energizer brand chargers, and the batteries lasted a very long time (7 or more years in daily use) and hundreds of recharges with those chargers. This charger is constantly telling me that batteries are bad or going bad. I don't think it's the devices the batteries are being used in. I also had some older Energizer rechargeable batteries (able to differentiate between new ones because of slight design change on battery branding), a few older Rayovac rechargeable batteries and a couple of older Duracell rechargeable batteries initially, and all of these have eventually indicated that they were no longer any good with this charger after a few uses. Some of the rechargeable batteries were old, so that could explain it in those cases, but many of the Energizer rechargeable batteries were brand new. They didn't get anything close to the number of recharge cycles they were supposed to have after I used this charger. Out of approximately 24 batteries, only about 4 to 6 now work properly. That is totally different performance than the Energizer rechargeable batteries I had before that I recharged on an Energizer brand charger.I also bought some Powerowl brand batteries in December 2023. I recharged them using this charger. I labeled them with the year and a designator to tell the batteries apart, so I know I haven't used the same ones every single time. Plus, I haven't recharged any of them every single day, so there's no way any of them are approaching 400 or 500 recharge cycles. I'd be surprised if any had been recharged even 100 times. Probably about 4 to 5 of the batteries now indicate that they are not working properly and do not hold a charge or recharge. They are not being used in extreme conditions. I don't know for sure if it is due to a malfunction with this charger, but I am using different rechargeable battery brands and different chargers for those batteries now. In the case of batteries that I had already used this charger to recharge, I will continue to recharge in this charger, especially the Powerowl branded batteries. I am disappointed by the performance of one or both of the Powerowl products. It could possibly be a malfunction only with this particular charger unit that could only be known after use, but even off-brand rechargeable batteries are more expensive up front than regular batteries, and it is less eco-friendly and less frugal if the rechargeable batteries function less than 100 times before ceasing to work properly. I don't know how much the Powerowl batteries can then be recycled, but I hope they are not ending up in a landfill.Personally, if you bought this charger unit with Powerowl branded batteries on a good deal, I think that could be saving a bit of money and a little bit of the environment versus buying regular single-use batteries, but I would be hesitant to put any other brand of rechargeable batteries in this charger. It is frustrating that few brand name chargers charge more than 4 batteries at once in one charger, and many of them don't charge odd numbers of batteries or single batteries. However, some name brands do make chargers that do so for up to 4 batteries, and the name brand rechargeable batteries seem to last longer when using their same charger brand, though they are generally more expensive than the off brands. If you can get the name brand rechargeable batteries with the name brand charger on sale, ultimately you might be saving money.
