An essential opener for vintage bottles
I have opened quite a few 15 to 25 year old bottles utilizing this opener and my success rate has been 100%. Tonight I opened a 2010 Bordeaux with a high-end, but conventional opener and the cork broke in half. I regretted not having gone to my Durand initially but used it to rescue the situation. Of course it performed again. If you are hesitant to purchase it because of the price, remember you will only purchase it once and it will last for generations.

Worth the cost
This design has yet to disappoint when opening a bottle of wine. While younger wines can be opened without incident by any corkscrew, this one makes it possible to remove corks as a single piece from double digit year old wines. While expensive, I have always relied on it to do a great job.
