A good study book
I like this series. Not the easiest to follow, but the subject itself is not easy to start with. Good content and coverage on the subject. I guess the title is somewhat misleading. It is not for “dummies “. You need to have learned AlgebraI to study this book.

It really works well. My 10th grade son is using it to teach himself before entering algebra 2.

Buy more than one book to explain functions.
Part 2 chapter 5 starts explaining domain and range. The explanation was incomprehensible. It was an absolute roadblock to what had been smooth from Algebra 1 to that point. The frustration was so great It made it impossible to concentrate. Understanding functions is a must for calculus so for a week I felt defeated!
