Awesome Tomahawk!
My first thing that popped into my head when I pulled it out were: "Wow, this is small." The second thing that popped into my head was : "This packaging is stupid!" (have a knife ready, you'll need one, unless you like fiddling with zip ties for half an hour) The third thing that popped into my head was: "Who cares if these are small, they are awesome!" I am giving this a good review, because I like tomahawks anywhere I can get to use them: Video games (dead rising 2, black ops, red dead redemption), real life, axe throwing competitions on t.v., absolutely anywhere. I am a knife collector, but my love of tomahawks goes deeper than my love of knives. If you are an axe thrower, don't be fooled by the small size, this will throw well, and far, and fast. It is throwing sharp right out of the box, and I nearly cut myself seeing how sharp it was. If you want a small, utility style tomahawk, instead of those flimsy ones we all hate to get suckered into trying out, do not fear, you could put up a fight against a possessed pile of cinder blocks if you needed to. This will kill zombies, mini golems, rabid coyotes, demon monkeys, or anything that you can think of. I won't suggest fighting off a bear or mountain lion, you'll need a shotgun for cqb with one of them. Also, these are a much better size for fighting hawks, mostly due to the fact the voodoo hawk looks like it should belong to optimus prime (who wants a tact'ed out hawk looking like it's from planet cybertron?". I also would advise learning how to throw hawks. They are still good defense weapons when thrown. If a guy with tiny knife threatens you, you take out this hawk, which is well under three inches in blade length, he'll be scared out of the pantyhose he's using to cover his face. Clearing small brush is nothing but easy with this hawk. I was so into this item I bought 4 of them. My grandfather helped design some of the multi-tools sog makes, or used to make, and still has the one they gave him. This is a multi-tool of tomahawks, so don't be afraid to put it through it's paces. Trust me, you won't be able to break it, and if your still unsure about it, try to, sog will replace it with a brand new one. Every sog tomahawk comes with a lifetime warranty. Also buy some grip tape too, you may find the handle to be slippery when you're all sweaty from working with it for a while. Over all, buy MORE THAN one, you'll love them.

10/10
These tomahawks are lightweight, easy to throw and develop consistent throws at multiple distances, and are flawless in tactical design in my opinion. The beard drops low enough that these can be used in close quarters protecting the knuckles and can quickly develop into short to medium range threat. Or vice versa if you carry a pair. They are so lightweight and well profiled they conceal easily about your person. As far as the complaints about the handle I think it’s just bad luck. I have a set of three dedicated to just throwing. I have hit or knicked the handle multiple times grouping shots and it still takes a beating. A cheap file set will help with a quick easy sharpening tool and should be used to flatten and sharpen the rear spike. This axe is almost impossible to drop with a bit of practice. You can cleanly stick the axe and control the angle with good wrist control. Reverse grip throws provide a reliable spike first hit that slam the handle upwards and forwards. If used defensively any shot center mass with a reverse grip is going to lodge in the chest or lungs and deliver a handle strike to the face. This could also easily be used for small game. Even a “missed” throw can still deliver tremendous impact. The complaints about the handle are just bad luck. They are actually my favorite aspect of the weapon. I have intentionally thrown this tomahawk to land in a such a way that the handle literally smacks the target every time. They’re basically bullet proof. 6/5 on quality, design, and consistency in the end user products. Some basic maintenance such as sharpening is an obvious must with any blade. I found that I increased the performance when I sanded down the acute edges on the non cutting surfaces and slightly reprofiling the skull crusher. A good quick sanding on the handle in between use keeps the handle smooth yet still grippy and it releases like butter every time. I don’t know I’ve bought a lot of stuff from Amazon and I basically never leave reviews. These are the real deal in every aspect no matter your intended purpose.

Terrific Tactical Tomahawk.
I am a Cold Steel fan, and really admire their quality. I also like the American Hickory handles. BUT, this tactical tomahawk is well built too !!! It throws well, and can be very, very sharp. I do have some training with different weapons, and this little baby is no slouch in that department. It's real use comes from the fact that it is almost designed to run along the Molle webbing of my Maxpedition Sitka. It comfortably sits there and won't go anywhere despite a rigorous hike. One small velcro tie, and this won't slip out accidentally - no way and no how. But the velcro strip is easily removed, and this Tomahawk deploys nicely. On dried wood, from the middle of the summer, this will service nicely. It is smaller and will require a bit more effort to get rid of a downed tree, but from a survival perspective - just perfect. I have not "pressure tested" the handle, but suspect it can withstand a brutish amount of force. It won't come a part on you. I bought mine on a bit of sale, and it was well worth the price. Put this on your wish list, and strike when that iron is hot !!!

A very handy tool for you prepper's. Blade is set sturdily, and came in just a few days. I have some other gear from SOG, my multi-tool has lasted 20 years and still can hold a good edge. If I had a complaint (which I do not!), given my height, I could use another hands-length in the handle. The 'pike' should have been 'square' as opposed to the single layer. But if you are a ice-climber, this will work great on that! Update. I have beaten on this for a few months now. I recant my statement on the 'pike', it works just fine, it does NOT bend! It DOES throw very well with practice. Even though I have chopped wood, it did not require a lot of sharpening effort. I've pried some items, it remains just as solid as when first purchased. So I picked up a metal 'hook' for utility belt for it (no I am not Batman), I use it in both my theaters of 'camping and recreation' and for my job.... it goes with me now every day day....
