Cuts Through Anything Without Strain These MAIRICO kitchen shears immediately impressed me with their weight and sturdiness. They don’t feel flimsy like a lot of multipurpose scissors do—these are heavy duty, built with thick stainless steel blades that lock firmly into place. I used them first on a rotisserie chicken, and they sliced cleanly through skin, meat, and bone without the twisting or struggling I’ve experienced with lighter shears. They’ve also been great for trimming fish and cutting up ribs before marinating. The handles are large, comfortable, and have a nice rubber grip that doesn’t slip, even with wet hands. I really like that they come apart easily for cleaning—just pull them apart, give them a thorough wash, and reassemble. That makes them much more sanitary than cheaper shears where food bits get stuck in the hinge. The only thing to keep in mind is that because they’re on the heavier side, they’re probably overkill for delicate tasks like herbs or soft produce. I keep a smaller pair of scissors handy for those, but for proteins and tougher jobs these are now my go-to. Bottom line: A solid, well-designed pair of kitchen shears that make cutting through chicken, meat, and even small bones effortless. Built to last and easy to clean—definitely a worthwhile addition to the kitchen.

These shears appear to be of good quality. Without question, they are sharp. I haven't used the church-key bottle opener as I have no use for it, but the toothed opener is very handy for water-bottle-type caps that are made so tiny these days and are more than a small 77-yr-old woman's fingers can manage on her own, for lack of purchase. These shears mean I don't have to get out the channel-locks. Because the handles are of equal size and shape, the good news is that the shears can be used from either direction, with the less good news that the handle shape is perhaps a bit close for four fingers, though not uncomfortably so. Also, the shears are just a bit on the bulky side--for me, at least. I say these things in the interest of full disclosure. These shears replace an expensive separating-blade pair of scissors I've mislaid, which was just as sharp but far lighter and with shaped handles, so my review results from a comparison of the two. In sum, the Mairico shears are different from the mislaid pair of scissors, but quite a bit less costly, very sharp, useful as a more convenient stand-in for channel-lock pliers, appear well made. They are more than adequate as a substitute. I use them several times a day, but have owned them for only a few days. So far, I heartily recommend them.

Product: We bought these because the ones that came with our knife set died. I wanted sturdy, hardy, and solid metal scissors this time -- not a combination of plastic and metal. While I haven't tried cutting up a chicken with them as the picture suggests, these are in fact high quality and solid scissors. I have cut several meats with them, thick and tough and these cut right through them as if they were nothing. I also love the multifunction feature of both nut cracking and (while we probably won't use it too much in our home) bottle opener. They wash easily and I dry them immediately to avoid rust (stainless steel will get rust if water containing iron is allowed to sit on it -- it's the iron in the water rusting, not the stainless steel). Service: I was emailed that my purchase was on its way and encouraged to contact them for anything. The scissors arrived on time and packaged appropriately. Soon after I was emailed that my purchase should have arrived by then and I was encouraged to contact them if anything wasn't 100% satisfactory. Well, everything was 100% satisfactory. I am very pleased with the product and the service, and I will be happy to do business with this company again.

I bought these on the spur of the moment -- a lightning deal. I am satisfied with them, but I wouldn’t have paid more for them. I would describe these shears as good, solid, sharp, heavy-duty shears, but I'm not sure about ultra sharp premium. I would not put them in the same category as the Cutco kitchen shears I got nearly 30 years ago. Still, I recommend these shears, if you get them on sale. I would buy these again as a gift... on sale. So far they work well for cutting up chicken (including through the backbone of a rotisserie chicken) and other cooked meats. However, I have not tried to cut a turkey backbone though. While they are strong, they are not strong enough for cutting large frozen sausages, but I didn’t really expect it too for the price. I’ve also used them to cut skin off raw chicken, chopping raw sausage, etc. After 3 months of use, I haven’t had any problems with these shears coming loosening or coming apart. Because I like these shears so much, I want them to last so I’ve tried to hide them in the back of the drawer, but my family likes them too so they find them and use them. So far, so good. Note: I do have to hold the scissors just right when cutting through something tough or it will feel uncomfortable. Also, they do not come apart. I knew that when I bought them, but thought that I should mention it.

Didn’t stay sharp long like I think they should

i liked these so much i bought a second pair. Its not often that i find something l love so much that i order another pair . Really well made and they worked well when i trimed lobster tail. Chicken would be nothing for this to cut. Really nice for one that a company sells something that is so well made. I order alot of things on amazon and i read these evals on the stuff and they always have 5 stars and swear they are a great product whatever that product they are selling.. and its been many times that i get it home and discover that the evals are all lies and the product is junk. These shears are not like that at all, you get a good quality pair of shears that are heavy enough to be used for many uses.. and most of all they are durable and yes that means you can put them in the dishwasher and they dont rust. and the blades are tight together so you get a good cut. Then check out the price.. 7.95 is what i paid and in my mind they are a Good Buy.

I've had these MAIRICO kitchen shears for eight years and they're still going strong. They're really well-made and have lasted a long time with regular use. The blades remain sharp and the construction feels solid. Good quality scissors that have proven their durability over the years.

I've been spending a few bucks at a time purchasing cheap kitchen scissors at dollar stores only to have them fall apart after a few uses or a few washes. At $8.95 (at the time of this review), these "Premium Kitchen Shears" turned out to be exactly that: premium. I've purchased a couple of pairs and they work great on meats of all kind and haven't come across anything that they can't handle. Easy to wash, or even just toss them in the dishwasher, and they are ready to use again and again. Stainless steel blades help to keep things neat and clean. The description says you can use them on other household chore and , even though I've only used them in the kitchen, I have no doubt they will do the job wherever you need them. Arrived promptly the next day in a handy little box. No problems, no sweat, no reservations. Highly recommended.

Expected a better finish on the plastic handle for such price. Looks sturdy however will update review after using product.

These are ok, cant cut chicken or turkey bones with them.
