Diamond Select Toys Star Trek: Nemesis: Enterprise E Electronic Ship

I recently began collecting these Star Ships from Diamond Select/ Art Asylum. They are very well made and look absolutely fantastic. Each ship does have features unique to the actual product. Mostly small variations as far as lights and sounds. As well as graphics. The Enterprise E is the next ship in line following the Enterprise D. This particular model is actually quite well made and looks nearly like its full sized movie ship. Although somewhat smaller in scale as compared to the Enterprise D and the Klingon Bird of Prey, the E is still nicely proportioned. Right out of the box she looks like the quintessential Star Ship. The one element of this particular ship I like are the lighted nacelles. They light up in both a beautiful rich blue and red color. Along with various sound effects, the nacelles look awesome when activated. The activation button is the actual bridge on the saucer section of the ship. Now I would like very much to address two issues that others have addressed as far as the negative aspects of this particular model. First, the stand. Let me be absolutely clear here and please follow my advice. The stand is of the ball type. The ship comes with two distinct battery covers which enable one to play with the ship and have no hole and another cover which does have a hole. This hole is somewhat tight and "great" caution must be taken when pressing the ball stand into the hole. A little spit will help. Once you start pressing this in make sure you handle the ship and stand in such a manner that your grip in the stand will not allow it to break. Don't assume anything. There is a reason this is difficult. The purpose of which is to make sure the ship is secure and can be positioned in multiple positions without falling. Once on, the ship can be displayed in any manner you feel looks good. Just take your time. Second issue. The so called lettering on the nacelles. This is the copy right lettering on both nacelles on the lower portion and it is visible. Personally, I agree the company could have placed this lettering somewhere else, but in reality, it does not in anyway detract from the awesome job they did with this particular ship. I highly suggest that unless you are a really gifted modeler, that you do not attempt to remove or deface this writing. Like anything else, it will grow on you. Some suggested using a solvent or lightly sanding this area. While that may or may not work, consider this, the value of the ship will be greatly decreased by defacing the actual copy right information. In short, I suggest leaving it alone. The only other source of contention from some who purchased this particular Star Ship are the lights. Although quite beautiful, there is no activation button which allows for them to stay on. My other ships all have that feature. Why the company did not incorporate this feature into this ship is beyond me, but in reality, it does nothing to take away from the fact that this was and is a really nice model and well worth the asking price. The details of the E are well done. Everything from the various Aztec patterns to the actual graphics and logos look crisp and clear. Although when the lights are activated, there is residual light bleed thru on the hull and nacelles. Again, a very minor issue and hardly worth mentioning. The E is my fourth ship and although somewhat smaller in scale to that of the other three I have, she still looks great as a collector piece. The boxes these ships come in are worth saving. They are well made and look very nice. Also, they are practical. Should one decide to move/relocate, the ships can be packed properly away. Thus ensuring no damage comes to them. A life long Trekkie, I find these Star Ships remarkably inexpensive compared to actual models one must spend months constructing. Mind you, I have great respect for those that have both time and skill to build models like the Polar Lights Enterprise A. Although clearly larger in scale and greater in detail, they do, none the less, take great skill and patience to construct. So, the alternative is Diamond Select or perhaps Playmates. Both sold here on Amazon. I highly recommend all the Diamond Select Star Trek Star Ships. They are well constructed and incorporate excellent detailing not really seen too often on something sold as a mere toy. The truth is these are collector ships and although children can play with them, they make absolutely awesome adult collector pieces. Clearly all that remains is the Voyager! A ship which I hope Diamond Select/Art Asylum will create and hopefully in a larger scale. End Transmission

I bought my 1st Diamond Select Enterprise - E in 2005 and could not believe they didn't light the warp engines! Just the Bussard Collectors. And the rest of the ship was very well rendered - superior to the Playmates Toys version which had lighted the warp engines. Another damaged version came out some time later, still with no lighted warp engines. I almost sent mine to one of a number of individuals who were doing lighting upgrades, but couldn't afford it. In the meantime, the Wrath Of Kahn and "D" versions came out with engines lit. Both were great replicas. Dedicated collectors like myself were left confused and frustrated. Then finally - The Nemesis Enterprise came out! It had the most detailed paint scheme of the previous "E"'s and lighted warp engines! This is THE version we've all been waiting for! I'll never understand why it took so long to get this ship right, but it was well worth the wait. I look forward to all the new Diamond Select endeavors.

Well I have the Enterprised 1701-D, and the D-Refit from diamond select and I love the light features on them where you can just turn the lights on. Unfortunately this model does not have that feature, and that is my only complaint. But you can't please everybody, well unless you are particular to detail... The detailed paint job on this is just amazing!!! I have not seen the like on a model yet, it's so good it almoast seems like I got the model the company used for the display model. Like the pic of the Big Mack that looks so perfect, you know it's not what your getting... Well this model is so perfect you can compare it to the actual pics and movie and it's right on! They even come with two bottom inserts one for the display it comes with, and another if your not going to use the stand, so no akward holes in the ship... Unless... you want one...

Amazing replica, this is a must have for any collector. Amazing details, a range of sound and light effects. I can say that the only bad thing about it is that you cannot turn only the lights on like in Dianond's Enterprise D, you have to play the sounds and the lights in the same time. But anyway BRAVO, 5 stars guys :-)

This Diamond Select Toys (DST) Toy /Art Asylum (AA) revisits their first attempt of the Enterprise E back in 2005-6. The goal it appears was to correct some of the art errors made on the original's Saucer Section while Enhancing the Lightwork in the Nacelles (warp engines). The original DST/AA release did not cover the entire Saucer in AZTECA art. And those areas it did on the saucer it was presented in a very odd bluish grey or greenish grey scheme that was very odd. This new 2013 release corrects the odd AZTECA artwork done on her predecessor and adds more AZTECA the entire ship. Making for a vast visual improvement of the toy. Her improved lightwork installed in her Nacelles also elevates this toy above it's predecessor. It is important to note, while the toy is visually improved. The same Sound Chip is used from 2005-6 so you will not here the Captain say anything new. While the toy's visual appearance is vastly improved it is not perfect. She still could be a bit darker IMHO on the AZTECA on the Saucer, however that is not an opinion shared by all. But the one glitch on this toy universally bemoaned by those who have bought it has been DST's decision to print the copyright material on these toys in a visual black ink Just below the nacelles. They are quite visible on a Planar view of the ship. It was a bad move by DST on one of their better Toys. The good news is there are techniques to remove this error, cleaning up the engines look..instead of making them look like the Enterprise E is advertising something like the Goodyear Blimp use to do in the day. I personally do not know what they were thinking when they chose to do this. But since it can be undone, it doesn't kill the toy. Just some research into how to remove the absurd copyright information. The one thing that can kill this toy is again, DST/AA's refusal to improve the stand that supports to toy on display. This has been a sporadic issue that should of been taken care of seven years later. But I am reviewing a stand not the toy, which I should get back to. I gave this toy 4 stars, it is one of their better releases. The grievances stated can be fixed. Some have complained about "Light Bleeding" on this toy. This is when a lighting element of a toy lights up more on the ship than it should. This is more a modeling term than a toy term, although I must admit the less expensive Playmates toys of the 90's did not seem to have this problems as much. Again, this is not a model, it is a toy although I wouldn't give to an eight year old unless he knew exactly what the ship was who captained her and who was her chief engineer. (Not likely going to find an eight year old that can do that!) Some purchasers are already exploring light blocking options with this toy. But again that is in the realm of models. But with DST/AA their products are quasi model/toy hybrids. The modelers will probably give this ship Three stars. She lost my full vote on the absurd trademark issue..that does ruin a near perfect fix for the 2005-6 version of this toy.

An incredibly beautiful and detailed rendition of the Sovereign-class, this thing showed up sealed and in perfect condition. It was difficult to attach the stand, but it's not that hard if you're smart enough to detach the underside of the ship and THEN force it onto the stand. There were also a few tiny stringy bits of what must have been model glue coming out of the sides of the nacelles, but this was easily removed; a very minor assembly line imperfection.

2nd DST ship that I have purchased. QA seems to be better on this my "all good things" 1701-D. This toy comes with 2 battery covers 1 that allows you to mount the base like what's pictured and 1 that allows you to hang the ship do display without the socket for the base. I can compare this to my Playmates 1701-E and I can say the detail on this ship is very well done. Sounds bites don't make Piccard sound like a chipmunk like the 1701-D version. Cons... Build quality feels cheapo.. plastic is light and this is probably pretty fragile. There is considerable light bleed from the engines and bridge area. There is no button to just turn the lights on... which is disappointing. Trying to fit the base into the ship is a ball and socket mount.... you really need to force this to get it to mount. Problem is the base is also made of light plastic and will probably break easily as well. Summary Not worth more then $30-40 which unfortunately I paid more. Base is pretty crappy, and ball and socket mount really takes some effort. Light effects are cool but still disappointed that there is no option like the 1701-D to just turn the lights on and not have to hear the voice.

The Diamond Select Enterprise E is truly the Jewel of my collection! The paint and markings are well done. The lighting and sound effects are crisp and Clear. To my surprise the stand is solid and holds my Enterprise E very securely. Like most Diamond Select ships, it requires batteries to make it sing. The package came fast and in excellent. Thank you Amazon for another excellent addition to my collection!

great model, only says one phrase and the lighting isn't that great but i didn't buy for those things and don't really use or care about them.

Exactly what I wanted! This particular one is the newer release of the ship with the Diamond Select registry/branding printed on the bottom of the warp engines removed, which is great!

AMAZING detail, great for an Office or "Man Trek-Cave" setting! **The stand is difficult to attach and detach, seems it may break with the amount of force required. I realized its best to leave the battery compartment cover fixed to the stand at all times, simply unscrew it and afix the provided "play mode" battery cover (without stand opening).

Nice ship and gift for a Star Trek fan. The stand is highly adjustable so you can position the ship the way you want.
