Didn't Work For Me :(
I have Time Warner Cable as my internet service provider. On their website, they have a list of approved and compatible modems and routers. That is where I found this NETGEAR AC1750.I had been considering purchasing my own so I could stop paying that monthly fee for renting the modem and router combo from Time Warner Cable. I thought this one was the ticket!I ordered and patiently waited for this to come in. As soon as it did, I thoroughly read the instructions, hooked it all up, turned on my computer, got everything set there, and called Time Warner Cable to advise them that I had purchased my own modem and router and that I would like to return theirs in order to stop paying their monthly rental fee.Little did I realize, when reading through their list of approved devices, that not all devices, (though Time Warner Cable approved) will work with every package. Personally, I have a home phone bundled with my internet service and this modem and router combo does not provide for a home phone. In order to use this modem / router combo, I would have to disconnect my home phone service, and if I disconnected my home phone service, I would lose out on the promotional package that I was enrolled under, and my bill would increase by far more than the cost of renting the modem / router combo from Time Warner Cable. All that being said, I contacted, through Amazon, to request a return of this NETGEAR device and have since returned it. I am still with Time Warner Cable and I am still renting their modem / router combination device.I was able to return this NETGEAR device without any problems or issues, and it is like the whole thing never happened!

Highly recommend for Comcast Xfinity...
Love this device! Backstory: I just moved into an apartment in Chicago. I pay for Comcast Xfinity's 75 Mbps for a great rate of $39.99/month. After much research, I decided to buy this unit instead of renting Comcast's modem for $10/month. Since this is a modem/router combo, I'm able to use this one device to send the wifi throughout my apartment. I have a large-ish and LONG apartment with at least 3 large rooms (and one long hallway), so I keep this modem/router in the middle room. According to Speedtest.net, with my PC connected with an ethernet cable, I get 90 Mbps (much more than I even pay for-- when does that even happen?). The wifi in the other rooms is about 20-40 Mbps, depending on how far away I am from the center of the apartment. The box comes with VERY easy instructions and even specifically had a section talking about Xfinity... It told me how to startup my internet using a comcast special website, instead of having to call the company and give any MAC addresses to the technicians. The setup took about 5 minutes, if that. I have had no issues with it since, but I've only had it for a week.Inside the box: An ethernet cable about 6 feet long, power cord, and the device itself. Please note that this box DOES NOT include a "coax" cable, which is the cable that connects this modem/router to your wall. So be sure you buy one!I highly recommend this device for the quality of the equipment, wifi speeds it emits, and the almost too-easy setup. Thanks

AC1750 with Time Warner Cable
Just a little background, I work in IT and I am very familiar with how routers, modems, and network services work.I purchased the Netgear AC1750 since it was under $200 and wanted a router that supported IEEE 802.11ac while also getting rid of Time Warner's modem to get rid of the monthly modem charge (which I find ridiculous in the first place but that's besides the point). Both the AC1750 and AC1900 but the AC1900 was quite pricey and didn't think I needed the latest and greatest (boy would I regret that decision). I purchased this on December 2015 so had the device for almost a year.Day 1-Received the device and had issues activating it. It took me almost an hour to get the device up and running without even getting to the settings of the device to get it the way I wanted to. After that I setup my devices to reserve specific IP addresses because I use an app called Simple Control where I control most of my home theater setup. Once I started getting more devices connected to it I wasn't able to get internet anymore. I factory reset it and tried it again but of course after the factory reset for some reason it wasn't activated again so I went through the process again but this time took 30 minutes. Once that was done I started setting it up again and then when most of my devices were connected AGAIN I was seeing issues. I did it again and connected only devices that I needed to have connected. It was stable so I went to add some port forwarding options which then I ran into it not working. It would just connection timeout which I then looked up and saw it was an issue with that firmware. Now comes the fun part of reaching out to Netgear and trying to find a solution. After troubleshooting they finally put me to a Tier3 technician which they tried to punt me to Time Warner saying it was something on their side which I knew wasn't the case but I went along with it. Time Warner did their changes on the backend (spoke to their Tier3 technicians as well) and they did notice abnormalities as there was a newer firmware but my device wasn't getting it. They sent a tech over and no problems were found and tech even combed through the hallway to see all the wiring to see if that could be it but everything was clean. Went back to Netgear and said everything was clear but was still seeing issues so they sent a replacement. Received the replacement and of course the same exact issues were happening and couldn't get a firmware update. Netgear then sent another replacement but with the newest firmware which was much better. I could add port forwarding rules, adding all my devices didn't cause the router to quit working, and initial activation took 20 minutes. Even with those fixes I was still seeing errors in the event logs and the device would act very abnormal. Accessing Netgear Genie was very slow, couldn't update applications while connected to wifi on my Android and iPhone, and when I rebooted the device it would take 2-3 reboots to get all my devices to reconnect and my devices would try multiple times to reconnect and stay connected. Also after a week or 2 I had to reboot because the router would just stop functioning properly. I couldn't keep a stable wifi connection, transferring files over the network would be extremely slow, and I couldn't keep a stable network speed externally. I told Netgear about it again (I was troubleshooting the device for over 9 months with Netgear at this point) and told them if they could give me the AC1900 (I actually asked before they sent the 2nd replacement) and I would pay the price difference which they came back to me with a no and to do a factory reset again. At that point I just stopped responding and gave up with them since rebooting the device every 2 weeks didn't seem so bad.The reason I wrote this review is because Black Friday/Cyber Monday rolled around and I had the AC1900 saved in my cart. I noticed it was $180 and having not purchased anything figured I would buy it, try it out, and if I see the same issues I would just return it with no troubleshooting. All I have to say is WOW it's a huge difference. Activating the modem took less then 5 minutes, I was able to set it up almost entirely the way I wanted to right from the get go (for some reason when I was adding port forwarding rules they would not appear but that resolved itself after 24 hours), no errors in the event log, and rebooting had all my devices connected in 1-2 minutes.I regret not getting the AC1900 right off the bat since it was only about $100 difference but with purchasing both devices instead of being out just $280 I am not out almost $500 just to get the $7.99 monthly charge out of my bill so will take me 5 years to catch up on that cost for it to have been viable. Lesson learned and hope this helps other people.

Easy to setup cable modem router with fast, reliable and consistent connection
The reason I decided to upgrade to this modem/router was because my Internet/WiFi signal was very inconsistent. One minute it would be fine (18-20 Mbps), the next it would drop to almost nothing (<1 Mbps). I work from home frequently with online meetings and this was making it very difficult and frustrating to work from home. In addition to frequent work use over VPN, we usually have 3-5 devices connected at any one time, stream tv/movies and music, social media & news, and frequently use cloud platforms such as OneDrive. Overall I would say we are moderate to heavy internet users. My previous equipment was a ARRIS SURFboard SB6121 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem (Black,Retail Packaging) (which Comcast is about to discontinue as an approved modem) and a Linksys EA3500 App-Enabled N750 Dual-Band Wireless-N Router with Gigabit and USB.The first AC1750 we received never connected to the Comcast server and would not activate. It took me 2+ hours and two agents to trouble shoot this with Comcast to finally determine it was the brand new modem that was the issue. This is the only reason for knocking one star off. Amazon was very helpful and sent me a replacement next-day. Love Amazon for this fantastic level of service! The second AC1750 activated right away, as it should have, and I never needed to call Comcast. Super easy, just follow the quick setup instructions included. It should take 10-15 minutes tops.I've been using the AC1750 for about a week now. My internet and WiFi speeds all over my house (~2250sqft) are very consistent and fast. I have 25 Mbps service through Comcast, and my speeds are consistently 28-30 Mbps, which is fantastic and plenty for what we need. I also found the 5G connection faster and more consistent, but this will certainly depend on your home/office layout.I was hesitant to upgrade my equipment as I was sure this was an issue with Comcast but turns out I was wrong. I'm really happy to be wrong in this case because upgrading my equipment was much easier and cheaper than trying to troubleshoot this with Comcast and/or upgrade my service. As it turns out their internet service is actually pretty consistent in my area! Who knew??Aside from first receiving a defective unit, this is a super solid cable modem router. I highly recommend it.

Very fast wifi; Easy to install; Works with Cox; Superb Customer Support
A little bit larger (taller) than I expected but it has a very small footprint especially considering it has replaced two pieces of old equipment. I have one computer wired to it via ethernet cable and another connected wireless.Getting the computers set up and on the internet was very easy. (My internet provider is cox. Was able to set up the new modem with Cox on-line. I set up the modem/router; Connected the wired computer; Computer immediately recognized the internet connection; When I went online, I was automatically taken to the Cox website and set up the new modem with them.)However I did have a problem with getting the modem/router to recognize my network printer that is also wired to the modem/router via ethernet. I went to Netgear's chat support and a wonderful woman spent an hour and a half helping me to get the printer working. Turns out it wasn't a problem at all with the router/modem. It was a setting on my printer that needed to be changed. The fact that she helped me resolve the situation when it had nothing to do with their equipment was way above and beyond the call of duty that I normally expect with customer service now-a-days.My phone (Samsung S5) and tablet (Samsung) connected easily. My phone is actually able to connect using the 5G capability of this modem/router. My tablet apparently doesn't have the 5G capability but connects with 2.4G.The computer that is connected via wifi also doesn't support 5G. I have to go buy a new wifi card if I want the 5G. However, I don't think I will. I'm getting plenty of download speed with the 2.4G. I went from a download speed of 11.90 Mb/s to 31.94 Mb/s. This is a huge increase and I can feel it. The speed of the computer that is wired to the modem/router didn't change (download speed right around 33 Mb/s). This leads me to believe that Cox has limited my download speed to about 33 Mb/s with my current plan despite them saying I should be getting 50 Mb/s (but that's an issue I have to work out with Cox). In any event, I don't see any point in buying a 5G wifi card for my computer to only possibly get an extra 2 Mb/s more speed. All in all... Very satisfied and I highly recommend!

Best investment ever compared to other brands and specs
This was sealed brand new when it arrived. I was anxious To see what this dual band modem wireless router can do after reading the reviews and specs of the product.First when I unpacked the router noticed it came with the AC1750 router one cat 5e cable and quick set up guide remember best to plug the power adapter straight to the wall for best results. As I unpacked the wireless router I noticed the size about one foot tall nice sturdy stand and on the back has your rj45 ports usb input you can connect a external hard drive to store or share files with your network connections (other laptop computers ect..) a on and off button and as you will notice towards the middle is a tab you pull it out and all the info for the router is their mac address password log in ect..I have time warner cable and it requires the latest software update for this router the great news is this router came with the latest version so no need to worry on upgrade for now first thing I did was activated the router with time warner cable and did a speed test in my area we are updated do I have the top notch service I ran the speed test my results was 329mbps download and 25mbps upload. Once I seen this was working I moved to the next step logging in to my router 192.168.0.1 entered user name : admin and password: password I changed my router log in password and wireless password next I did a wireless speed test results 312mbps download and 23mbps upload wow I was impressed cause on wireless the time warner cable router arris only tested 90mbps download and 15mbps upload on the same service I had.Well this was worth the money. The only con:is the size

Quick and easy replacement for my Spectrum modem/router
My old router was starting to fail (i.e. had to reboot often to get internet working) so I ordered the same Netgear AC1750 to replace. I started to research other modem routers but just didn't have the time so I took the easy way out and just order what I had before. Added bonus was the price was great as well so little risk in just sticking with what I know works well with Spectrum.Once it arrived I called Spectrum tech support. All they needed was for me to read the IMEI and Serial Number off the bottom of the new device. Once they added the new modem to my account we were done. I simply unplugged the old modem, installed the new one and powered it on. After a few minutes and an automatic reboot my internet connection was back and showing my fully provisioned upload and download speed. I recommend using a crescent wrench or pliers to tighten the coaxial cable connector to the back of the Netgear mode router. Finger tighten will allow it to loosen easily if you move it around and this can effect the singly quality. The last step in setting up the modem router is to browse to the router per their instructions and change your home network name, password. This allows my connected devices (cameras, lights, etc.) to automatically connect since they are configured for your specific name and password. While in setup mode change the admin password for added security.

maybe this WILL be a great modem/router combo when NetGear gets to fix the serious ...
2014-12-17 Update: I was finally contacted by Netgear and had another 2.5 hour session with them. Here is the bottom line, and final update before any firmware fixes:1. NetGear admitted that they have issues with ReadyShare and they basically told me there is nothing else they can do except 'collect information'. I have to wait for a new firmware, have the firmware approved by my internet provider, then have them push it to my C6300! (Who knows when!)2. For future daredevil users: Do not mess with the DHCP reservation values or table. Doing so seems to affect the ftp readyshare abilities and the ability to have the genie app login to the router. If I get an updated firmware, I will update this review.--------------------------------------------Hm... maybe this WILL be a great modem/router combo when NetGear gets to fix the serious firmware bugs and upgrade their software to a reasonably solid working state. For now three stars just due to the time I spent on the phone with them vs the price I paid for a device that has serious flaws.I've spent about 6 hours on the phone with their technical support and have already replaced one of these devices. During our last session, they kept me on hold for 30 minutes (after an already two hour call) to tell me that they couldn't find a technical expert because it was the weekend. They were supposed to call me back a day later, but not only they didn't, I can no longer see any updates on my ticket! With the above having been said, here is the good, the bad and the ugly:Pros:1. Good router / modem combo. Gives you fairly good control over most of the parameters of your network.2. Supports 802.11ac as well as guest networks on both 2.4 and 5Ghz bands.3. I particularly like the button for switching the wireless network on/off at the front of the device.4. Supports IPV65. Fast internet - with 12x4 channels bonded, I get ~60-70Mb downstream; 10+ upstream on middle tier package.6. Provides Media server and USB drive sharing features (however -- see below -- they don't exactly work, yet!)7. Cool looking! :-)Cons (of lesser importance)1. Some features are not there which would normally be there on a regular router (that is probably to be expected.) For example, no ability to declare static routes / see the routing table.2. The 'Genie' application is buggy and sometimes it communicates with the device, sometimes it doesnt.3. When it does, some features don't reflect what the router perceives as present (Readyshare - more about this at the 'ugly' section.)4. So I -- finally -- found a usb thumb drive that the device DID like (2 older devices I had, the C6300 wouldn't see no matter how I formatted them.) When the device is rebooted, the USB LED at the front remains off, although a device is actually connected and active (!)5. The 2.4Ghz wireless LED stays firmly on even during activity; the 5.0Ghz LED blinks, even when there is NO activity on this band (!)6. Expensive. The ugly (things that need to get fixed:)1. The firmware V1.12.20 is NOT user upgradeable - good luck getting upgrades from your provider. And I'm sure that there needs to be an upgrade fairly quickly.2. The FTP server and HTTPS access to your USB drive is simply not working, WHEN ACCESSED FROM THE INTERNET (locally, within your network, they appear to be working just fine.) This was a key feature in my decision to buy this model. After hours on the phone and a factory reset we managed to get the ftp going; but today for no reason whatsoever, it stopped working!3. The https interface to the USB drives, NEVER worked. However, when tested through other methods (telnet to 443), it is clear that the port is accessible and the C6300 simply doesn't properly negotiate SSL (therefore, you get a 'cannot connect to site').4. No separate username/password for USB share access! You'll need to share the admin username/password to this device if you'd like some basic security to your ftp files. Not ideal if you need to enable remote management or a good security practice.5. The user interface is very slow at some screens, sometimes tricking you into believing that the router simply went away! But if you wait long enough, you'll get the updated screen.Haven't tested DLNA yet or 802.11ac access. But I'll update my review if things get better or am able to test more features.Hope this helps you.
