Review: Sure is better than holding it in your hand. Don’t do that! - There are a couple of ways to check for spark. You can pull a plug and rest it on a cylinder or you can pull the cap off and just hold it. You’ll know very quickly if your coil is firing to the plug. If you take that seriously I have a bridge I’d like to sell you. The best, and easiest, way to test for fire to the plug is use a tester like this. The price is ridiculously low. It’s about as easy to use as it can get. Pull the cap off the plug, install the tester in line, and hit the starter. If you get light you’re getting spark unless your plug is fouled. The only way to know that is pull the plug. The only slight negative I see is the bulb is just dropped down in the tester. It works but it seems like the bulb was an afterthought. That little issue is more than compensated for by the low price. If you do any mechanical work at all it’s worth the money to get one of these.
