Automatic X4 Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Rally long cord - check! Powerful suction - check! Great (German) build quality - check! Easy to disassemble and clean out and/or replace parts with no tools needed - check! Better filtration than most vacuums - check! Automatic adjustments of the roller head for different surfaces - check! Warns you when something is stuck and shuts the motor off so it isn’t damaged - check! Only downside is that you have to replace bags which cost money and two types of filters need replacing eventually. The vacuum will tell you when with a red light. You can find comparable filters and bags for a reasonable price on Amazon. I think it’s worth it vs a bagless vacuum. This vacuum makes sure no dust gets back into the rooms with a filter before the stuff goes into the bag and an exhaust filter for the air leaving the vacuum and going back into the room. Bagless vacuums get dust back into the room when you empty them or you have to go outside to empty them. But this sebo vacuum checks all the boxes off! Plus I bought it used in good condition for a great deal and everything works great - the auto adjustment, the warning lights, the suction is super strong! Everything works like new!

This is the only vacuum my wife has ever used that actually calms me, I suffer from many issues and I never thought a vacuum could be soothing. It works like a champ too, wish the hose was longer but I can live with that.

I have owned one of these for many years, and later bought one for each of my kids. Expensive but excellent quality and durability. A lifetime purchase. The beater bar is easy to remove from the machine so you can get the hair off. My wife has long hair, so this was a big selling point.

After giving the Sebo a thorough workout for a few months in our spacious, very dusty and cat-haired home (Maui—windows always open, very windy and drought-stricken), I am soooo impressed! Does a spectacular job on the bare tile (!) in upright mode (have a great parquet floor tool, but donʻt need it.) Tools are well-designed and very well-placed on the machine for extra-quick corners, baseboards, lampshades, etc. But the really great part is the job on the 15 yr. old Berber wall-wall carpet—when I clean the carpet there is NO sand or pet hair in/on the carpet cleaner! Also, the filtration is truly amazing—NO dust inside the bag compartment! Wow. Wow!

We had our last Sebo over 15 years.Well made. we were not replacing sweepers every few years,Pricey for sure.It hurts to spend that much for a sweeper, so we thought long and hard about it, but it works.Cords nice and long.Powerful and easy to use..We flet it was worth spending the money on.

Love this vacuum. I've had the vacuum since 2022 and have had absolutely no problems with it. My house is a mixture of carpet/tile/hardwood and there has been no problems with effectiveness on any surface. I've had Dysons before with dogs and cats in the house along with regular day to day dirt the carpet never truly felt clean. With the Sebo I've never had that feeling. There's visibly less dirt and hair now. The fact it is also a bag vacuum and not open canaster was also a hug selling point. I've only have to replace the bag twice since I bought it. Also with the Dyson, using the hand held extension was always so finicky as it would not always register that the tube was pulled out. I've never experienced that same issue with the Sebo. The vacuum also comes with a limited warranty. Seven year motor and 5 years parts and labor.

Long story short- AVOID. Not recommended. Cons 1- front housing did not fit securely together. The unit was either refurbished (minor damage on hose, plastic poorly assembled) or very poorly manufactured as the plastic wasn’t molded to fit together properly, which made the gasket to seal the compartment useless. Since this is a HEPA vacuum, it is a joke to have a HEPA filter with openings located inside of a compartment that has openings to the outside (aka the dust flows back out into the room). 2- very difficult to maneuver. It goes forward and backward ok, but turns are not great. The front is so big and bulky that it doesn’t go under anything really, nor get dirt along the walls. So the fact that it lays flat is also useless since it’s too big to get under anything in the first place. 3- very very heavy, which is another reason for its poor maneuverability. It does not go onto rugs without having to be lifted up onto them, so it becomes very cumbersome very quickly. Aside from that, after vacuuming the house, my arm and back were sore due to the weight and lack of maneuverability. My house is 1100 sqft with two 5x7’ rugs. Good size but far from being a castle. 4- very poor mobility on high pile carpet. The first try, it shut off because it thought the brush was clogged. The second try, I had to use both hands and lots of force to get it to move along the carpet. It was a literal pain. 5- German made seems to be a marketing term these days. I was neither impressed with the manufacturing nor the engineering. This thing has not been substantively updated since the 80s or 90s and it shows. 6- laughable value for the price. A cordless Dyson at less than half the price does a much better job. Pros 1- very long cord. For an older house with few outlets, I only needed to unplug and replug once. 2- suction is ok. Not exceptional. Just ok for a corded vacuum. Honestly, my mom’s middle of the line bissell from the 90s has comparable suction. Waste of time and money and now I have to lug this thing into UPS for a return. Avoid at all costs.

This vacuum clearly functions at a superior level and operates better than all other vacuums that I have had in many years. It was easy to assemble in 45 minutes. My first use was simply awesome to clean my carpeting and hard floors. Yes it is expensive ,but in my view it is cheaper than the iPhone 15 Pro that will last only 3 years whereas the X4 is likely to be in service for 12 to 15 years! (I think it is important to keep my purchase decisions in perspective.) I have read many recent and helpful reviews (as of March 2024) and thanks to those folks who were positive influencers, I decided to "pull the trigger" and buy the X4 Boost Automatic model.
