Can Be Used for Non-Ghost Hunting Activities
I bought this to check up on the EMF readings around and underneath my house. We've had some issues with flooding in our crawlspace the last few years. I have a strong sensitivity to high EM fields so I wanted to make sure my crawlspace wasn't high enough to be causing major problems. This gadget was really easy to use and I was surprised by the results I got. I used it to discover some un-grounded wiring and I also discovered that my air purifier system has an enormously high EMF! It reminded me of an episode of Ghost Hunters where Jason and Grant said that air purifiers are common culprits for producing high EMFs and sometimes people think their house is haunted but they're actually suffering from side effects of a sensitivity to high EM fields generated by household items. My crawlspace had generally low readings, so I was happy! My research showed that people who are really sensitive to high EM fields use copper in various forms (fabric, tape, foil or metal rods and sheeting) to cover things with high EM fields that can't be removed from the home so they don't continue to have issues. I tried this with my purifier and it does show a lower EMF reading. Copper isn't easy or cheap to find in pure form but I used lower gauge stuff from a craft store (I found large sheets of it in the section for building models of cars and planes) and it still worked to lower the reading. I have noticed a different and I feel a lot better!

Great Meter for the Price!
According to the EPA and other government agencies:"Despite extensive research over the past 20 years, the health risk caused by EMF expo- sure remains an open question. Two national research organizations (the National Re- search Council and the National Institute of Health) have looked at the studies and have concluded that there is not strong evidence that EMF exposures pose a health risk. How- ever, some studies have shown an association between household EMF exposure and a small increased risk of childhood leukemia at average exposures above 3 mG. For can- cers other than childhood leukemia, there is less evidence for an effect."This meter does not detect low levels and is not sensitive enough to really detect small electromagnetic fields. However, it will detect fields large enough to register within EPA standards. It is accurate between .5 and 100 milliguauss. Anything less than that, I wouldn't trust it.It works good to test for large fields in your home. It's built prett well. I would recommend it for simple uses around the house.

Useless
I bought to check to see if my microwave was leaking because my Wi-Fi slows down when the microwave is on. I tried it and it did register but the readings bounced around a fair amount. So I took it to work to compare it to an expensive EMF meter and it was no where close. My advice is not to purchase these as there are useless.

Three Stars
Only works if you have the device really close to the source.

Meter seems to be affected by motion. If I move it around it spikes, if I put it in the breeze from a fan, it affects the meter; I am quite skeptical to trust the accurate measurement of EMFs due to this observation.

great quality for the price. useful for evaluating common home devices - and getting rid of the bad ones!
other reviewers mentioned that their old clock radios emitted more EMF than their cell phones. Boy were they right! And that clock radio was (no longer is!) right next to my head all night. No wonder they can't figure out if cell phones cause brain cancer or not! No one is likely factoring in old clock radio/alarm EMF exposure. Not the most sensitive unit, but sensitive enough for home use and great quality for the price.

Nice inexpensive option for home use. Smart to detect EMF emmisions.
The EMF meter works better than expected. This tool is extremely easy to use, inexpensive and is accurate enough for home use. Totally intuitive. Turn it on and point it. I was quite surprised by the results. I bought it because the on ground transformer in my front yard (about 10 feet ftom a bedroom window) started humming. It emits a moderate amount of EMF but only for 5 feet so sleep is is safe for guests. Nice to confirm this. I was surprised how high emmisions are from my bedside clock and the ligjt dimmer switchs! Some change is in order. I like the switch and recommend it.

Returned for refund. Did not perform as expected due to having failed or needing calibration.
Sent back and requested a refund as this meter has either failed or needs to be calibrated. Did not even pick up the EMF from my PC or TV. Not what I expected or anticipated.
