Aside from the Misleading Word "Plans," a Great Little Book!
We just received our copy of Judy Pangman's book. I was hesitant about ordering it after reading the reviews, but because there were some good ones in the mix I figured I'd take a chance. While I agree that it lacks the formal plans that the title seems to promise, it does include photos, sketches and dimensions, and offers a lot of interesting ideas, often with diagrams, for a variety of poultry-keeping needs. Most people who raise poultry would not choose a chicken coop as their first carpentry project anyway, and the book assumes a certain level of expertise and of comfort with tools, materials, and knowledge of the ways that floors, walls, and rafters go together. We've built numerous sheds and outbuildings so we're comfortable melding concepts from several styles to tailor a coop - or any other structure - to our own needs. But we have lived on our place for many years, have a typical repository of building supplies, new and used, and this book is perfect for people like us. If the reader is in his or her twenties and lacks both the experience and the treasure trove of raw materials it might be a different story. Except for the confusion over the word "plans" in the title, which seems to have bothered a lot of readers, I would have awarded this five stars.

Don't Waste Your Money! (like I did)
This book has to be the biggest disappointments in a "How To" book I have ever purchased. (Understatement) I honestly felt ripped off, and I've been buying online since it's inception. I have very little construction experience, but enough to follow a decently drawn plan, maybe even some poor ones. There were NO plans in this book. Maybe times have changed. But I wanted a book with ideas or plans for something basic, and ultimately efficient and applicable for housing an average backyard flock. This book offered none of the above. Material list? Not even. Nor I am not a fan of cutesy or fringe. I mean really, one plan was an 'egg-loo' constructed from straw bales. Another using the top of a truck bed topper. Have we become so unintelligent we need a book to tell us how to do this?! I think not. My only regret is I didn't post a BEWARE review sooner, and return this book for a full and immediate refund. Truthfully, I am surprised Storey even published it, much less attached their name to it. I have many of their books, but they have lost a customer after this. I would be ashamed. I won't even even donate it to the library. If you need a book on building a chicken coop, poultry house, or anything of this ilk, please, don't waste your money, much less your time.

Three Stars
It's nice but I wish it had more actual information instead of just basic coop pictures

helpful but not exactly what I wanted
I would say that this book offers exactly what it is stating. I did not find the type of coop I have in mind, but there are several optimal choices in here and there are diagrams provided. I am very glad I purchased the book and would encourage the individual that is looking into ownership of a flock or just a few chickens, this book will offer choices in housing them.

Full of great information
I really appreciate this book. It has a coop for every situation. It is also full of great advice from people seasoned in poultry care. Even if you don't use a design from this book to build your coop you will have enough information to design a really good one if you read it. A worthwhile purchase.

Good general advice
I read this doing some general research before building my own coop. Good advice but nothing groundbreaking that you couldnโt find online already so great/probably more suitable for a newbie

DUPED BY FALSE CLAIMS IN TITLE OF INCLUDING SO CALLED CONSTRUCTION PLANS!
This is the most disappointing item I have ever purchased from Amazon! Unfortunately I was in a rush when ordering this and suchlike DID NOT look at any reviews before making my order. I did however look at the reviews the following day and to my horror, every one and I mean every one was not only negative by downright horrendous! This publication should be banned from the entire Amazon site on the basis of all the reviews being hugely negative. Amazon has a great reputation, however it must take some responsibility for their customers being "duped" into buying this book on the basis of its claims do including "45" building plans for chicken coops - NOT! Never, ever again will I fail to read previous reviews before I purchase an item.
