Very Durable and "relatively" easy to fill....
I used sand that was in a pile in the sun for a week to fill it! Wet sand will take an eternity. Though they can be found at big box stores and larger masonry supply stores you need 1/8- 1/2" stone pebbles are more ideal and heavier. Both ways will require at least 2 people as the fill up hole is only 1 1/8" in diameter. Thus, as your pour through a funnel (I used a cut in half milk carton (with a plastic screw cap on the side- any thing less will take you an eternity to fill) I kept shaking and tapping the base to let the sand compact and settle a bit more. I elected NOT to use stone because the lines at the homedespot were too long during the earlier part of Covid-19 and the guy next door had a pile of sand left over from some cement work he was doing before "The new normal" occurred! It is very robustly built with high quality stainless steel so it will NOT rust. Though NOT the easiest thing to move around (I have a cement "block" patio, so it is not seamlessly flat), it is acceptable and anything else that looks easier to move will cost a minimum of 3-5 times more. I did tons of research and "tire kicking" at different B-box and garden stores before Covid came to stay so, I know from whence I Speak. BTW, I bought the black color instead of the dark brown (even though I have a bunch of that brown toned cast aluminum patio/garden furniture) and saved $30. The difference is hardly noticeable.Hey folks, I spend a small fortune in time , energy, and moola buying stuff here on amazon so if this review was HELPFUL...well, you know what to do!

Holds our umbrella and table in place!
Works as expected and great price. We filled with play sand that we purchased from Home Depot. Took about 30 minutes to fill up. I used a funnel and it was pretty easy to fill. It’s very sturdy and our umbrella and table have not moved all summer despite the terrible rain storms we have had this summer. Stand also has wheels but we don’t move it often unless to clean deck. To give some background Our previous umbrella stand which came with our table was not heavy enough and so our aluminum table and the umbrella would constantly move during rainstorms but this has not been the case at all after purchasing this base. Very very happy with purchase!

Very Satisfied! Great for Coastal Locations. Well Made!
I purchased the bronze unfilled version and filled with play sand. Took about 1.5 hours to fill, but worth it, as the filled version was not available. This umbrella base is used near the ocean, so the stainless steel pole tube and hardware are a huge plus!!! Easy to assemble. A 50 lb bag of sand filled the base. Probably could have squeezed a little more in, but it’s not necessary. This holds an umbrella that is 8x10’ rectangle, which goes through a heavy would patio table. We are in a high wind coastal location, and so far, the umbrella base is doing a great job. Judging by the quality materials and design, I expect this to last quite a long time. Also, the wheel is very handy when you need to move the base. Well worth the price!

60 lb, not 80 lb
Play Sand from Home Depot and a wide-mouth funnel from Auto Zone, and the base was closely full in 20 min. I weighted 57 lb sand that went in. I don't believe that I could put more than another 1 lb in, but it would take a lot of time. With empty weight of 4.5 lb, this base should be advertised as a 60 lb base (lost 1 star).Good construction/molding. It stands on a composite deck, which means that it slides relatively easy, but not too easy. This is why I bought a base with no wheels or metal on the bottom--to protect the deck. The down side is that it may slide in high wind when it is wet, but this is a low risk, since I would not leave the umbrella open.

The best umbrella stand for the money!
Extremely well made, all metal is stainless steel , TWO post clamps, plastic base is solid and has a wheel if needed to be moved. I filled mine with pea pebbles from HD, made a cone from a plastic gal water bottle to fit in the small 1 1/4 in hole, sand will work as well, but must be very dry. I used pebbles just in case a bit of water gets into the plastic base, sand could expand and freeze, the pebbles may allow for more expansion. I think this will last for at least 5 to 7 years, maybe more. I’ll update this review if there are problems, but it will probably be good news… buy it, it’s worth the money.

Good umbrella stand
I bought two of these for the pool area. I was tired of the old steel ones that rust and wobble. These bases have a clean look and are stainless steel, so they will not rust. They have a roller on one side so it is easy to move around if needed. The base is plastic and hollow, so it will have to be filled. I filled the bases with concrete but it is a little tricky. You have to use a funnel and stand the base up on the edge to pour the concrete. You also need to use pea gravel concrete so it doesn't get clogged while pouring. I don't think using water in the base would work. The cap is not a good seal and it probably wouldn't be heavy enough. Sand may work, but I wanted it to be as heavy as possible so I used concrete.

Provides great stability
I used this as a base for my 11-foot patio umbrella which has a pole diameter of 1.9 inches. I easily filled the base with gravel to make the base weigh a lot. Then the weight of the base, the stainless steel stem, the removable post collar, and the stem adjustment screws (watch the US Weight video) secure the umbrella post securely to prevent umbrella wobble or tipping. However, my umbrella is not free-standing. I have it inserted through a 2" hole in my patio table. So, I thought maybe windy conditions might cause the pole might bang against the table's hole, so I looked for an insert to put into the table's umbrella hole, but could not find one to fit. But, the US Weight umbrella base comes with two removable post collars, and the larger one (which I used at the top of the stainless steel stem) would also work for the hole in the table. So I called US Weight, and they sent me an extra set of the post collars, and the larger one worked perfectly in the table to secure the umbrella post inside the table's hole. Great customer service! I highly recommend this umbrella base.

Easy to position and install. Good quality.
Purchased without filler. Used my own 50lbs bag of play sand I had sitting around the yard. Instructions says not to use water. Used a funnel and the whole bag of sand. Came out great. I made a project out of it and my toddler helped me fill it. I positioned it close to where I was going to place it in case it was too heavy but the rollers made it easy to maneuver. It’s holding up an extra large rectangular umbrella over a cast iron table that seats 8. The umbrella has a 2” pole. There’s two knobs used to tighten the pole into the stand. The end of the knobs is rubber tipped for extra grip against the umbrella pole. Looks great and doing its job.
