Intex Classic Downy Airbed Set with 2 Pillows and Double Quick Hand Pump, Queen

This mattress was easy to inflate with the provided hand pump on a camping trip. It took about 15 minutes in all to inflate and deflating it was easy too. We had an adult and 2 kids squeezed in our tent on this mattress and it held up to all the tossing and turning. It fitted in a 4 person (9 ft X 7 ft) tent with room to spare on each side. It would just about fit a 3 person tent. It did not leak air, at least not that we noticed. It's good to put a tarp down under the tent though just in case a sharp rock decides to poke its way through. We had carried duct tape to repair if necessary and the box had an extra patch in it too but it was not needed. The pillows came in handy too, but they didn't seem to have the opening to let air in pierced so we tried to pierce them on the camp site and ended up ruining one. This was a great price for a camping mattress and pump and bonus pillows. Cheaper than the stores at the price just over 20 bucks but price on Amazon tends to fluctuate quite a bit so keep an eye out for when it drops. From previous experience I've found that if the rubber underside gets a small hole in it and nothing seems to work including the repair patch, get a quarter (or a dime) and super glue and stick it right over the hole and let it dry overnight. For some reason the metal seems to bond really well to the underside rubber and plugs up the hole. I am not sure if the same would work for the top. I had taken an extra sheet to throw over this mattress before bedding down in our sleeping bags. It helped keep the dirt off the suede surface. I wouldn't recommend walking on this mattress but it holds up okay up to 400 lbs of weight on it.

I bought this for a camping trip I am taking in May. After reading all of the reviews posted here, I made sure to test this out as soon as I received it. I realize that this is a forum for opinions, but I have to say this deserves no negative criticism whatsoever. Using the included hand pump, it took me 5 minutes to inflate fully. It is very comfortable to sleep on even without any sheets or a sleeping bag. I even broke out my sleeping bag and tried it out for a night on a hard wood floor. The anti-slip material held onto the sleeping bag and did not let it slide around on the mattress. I left the bed inflated in the middle of my living room (much to the wife's dismay) and laid on it whenever I was watching TV. I never needed to add any additional air to it in three days time. When it came time to deflate, it was decompressed, folded up, and put away in five minutes. The pillows were more of a problem to deflate than the mattress. The pillows, by the way, work just fine and I found that if you stuffed them both into one pillow case, they worked even better. I will update this review after my camping trip, but for the money, I have to say that this is an excellent value, a comfortable bed, and is perfect for any family camping trips.

We bought 2 queen airbeds and pillows mainly for camping purposes, but also to have when family comes for a visit and bringing their kids. So far we have used the airbeds only for camping. We are very pleased with them. They are truly "queen" size and my husband and I shared one and we had plenty of room each. Pumping up each mattress took about 10 minutes using the included hand pump and my husband broke into a slight sweat while pumping them. I don't like my mattress hard so he didn't pump it up to full capacity. The air pillow just wasn't very comfortable to use, it's better than nothing but we all tossed them and used regular pillows instead. My husband didn't much like the deep grooves (big tubes) which formed the airbed mattress, but it didn't bother me. I kind of liked it because I could lay with my bony backbone between the round tubes and in the deeper grooves and found it rather comfortable. We did not notice any air leakage from the beds. My husband and I shared one airbed while our 2 kids shared the other. They seemed to be as full the next morning as they were when initially pumped. The airbed material seems durable enough, but I would lay something extra underneath them if they are to be placed on a surface with rocks underneath. We camped out in our backyard in a tent on a relatively cold evening. It got down to around 45 degrees F. The mattresses of course radiated the cold from the ground right up to us so a few blankets on top of the mattress helped with that. And we let our dog sleep in the tent with us. She's an Eskimo Spitz with a lot of fur. She didn't sleep on the airbeds but beside them and the airbeds collected a good bit of her hair, but that is really no problem. (We're used to her hair being everywhere anyway.) Deflating the airbeds was fairly painless. Once the plug was pulled and after some basic squashing of the airbeds was done, it was easy to roll them up somewhat tightly to get the remaining air out of them. We plan on using them while camping a lot more this summer and if they turn out to be failures I will certainly update this review. But for now, I am pleased with them and feel we made a good purchase. UPDATE: 6/30/09 We went on a week-long camping trip last week and used the airbeds the entire time. They worked out perfectly. Maybe some air loss by the end of the week but not enough to be a problem. They were very comfortable to sleep on especially when a flat sheet was placed on top of them. The only thing protecting them on the underside was the tent floor and a tarp. They had no sign of damage whatsoever. I highly recommend these airbeds for camping purposes. The pillows however, were not very good but still usable if lightly inflated.

I was hesitant to make a decision on this purchase. I was concerned about most of the choices offered by Amazon. This Intex item stood out from the others because of the higher percentage of positive reviews. Nonetheless there are a large number of customers who were unhappy with this item. So I took a chance. I purchased quantity two (2) of these. The purpose is for our guest accommodations. I bought both units marketed as "used" items from Amazon Warehouse Deals. Understandably it is risky to purchase a "used" (or "repackaged") inflatable item because of the concern regarding punctures or other imperfections. One of the items arrived fine but the other unit had a tiny sliver hole, perhaps from being repackaged and inadvertently cut open, creating an air leak. This air leak was easy to fix, however. I cut a small piece of the included patch material, cleaned the affected area and applied the patch. Then I waited multiple hours, for the adhesive to cure, before re-inflating. For good purpose I also purchased some Coghlan's Repair Kit for any future repair needs, should I ever experience any puncture in the future. The included pump is great for inflating. We do not own the right electric pump so therefore we required one to be included. This pump is good because it inflates on the push *and* on the pull. Therefore it inflates quicker than with a conventional pump. It took me about ten (10) minutes to fully inflate it and I am relatively fit. Similarly, I can also tell you that deflating the unit is quick and easy. When you are ready to put it away I suggest to *ROLL* it up rather than to fold it. This is so that you push out all of the air as you fold it. Takes up less room in storage, this way. Good thing I inflated both units the day before my guests arrived. This is because, for the first inflation, the material stretches considerably. Therefore after the first inflation it will appear "soft" after a few hours. No worries -- just add a little more air. I did this just two or three times before achieving a consistent firmness. In fact our guests noted that the mattresses were a little too hard! That's okay of course because I released a little bit of air to match their comfort requirement. The pillows are useless but we re-purposed them as pool floats for the kids. I was a little skeptical about buying an airbed, having read several reviews about leakage in low-cost airbeds. After a month of usage I think I can safely say that this is one of the best airbed bargains out there. This one comes with a handpump that you could use to easily top up your bed with more air if need be. Well, for the first couple of weeks it would need more air after 2-3 days, but now after a month is holding pressure quite well [edit: I think this was the bed stretching out to its normal size: I recently inflated the bed after storing it deflated for a while and again I had to top it up a few times over the next few days]. It is really comfortable, though really wide and a bit heavier than the two smaller sizes available in the same brand. If you're looking for a comfy makeshift bed, this is a great option to consider - though you may want to consider the smaller versions with battery pumps for outdoor use - the handpump takes a while to fill up th-s bed! (~10 minutes) Note on accessories: The pump is really light and works much better than I thought it would and fits both the bed and pillows - and beds from other manufacturers. The pillows however are rather small and the valves on them don't really work - still, there is a rubber plug on the nozzle that if you get on fast enough will do the trick.

Formerly a 5 star review. See my original review below. I really, really liked this product before. It made camping so much nicer. Keep in mind...I use this inside a tent, so it's not bare on the ground where rocks might puncture the bed. Yet two of these products have died on me and don't hold air. It's a pretty disheartening feeling when you've driven many hours out to go camping and then you find out you won't be getting a comfortable night's sleep as the inflatable bed won't inflate. I thought maybe bad luck, or I did something wrong and didn't realize it, so I bought another. And soon enough, this too was busted and trash. No more purchases for intex. I am looking for a reliable alternative. Original review I go camping pretty often as I'm into Astronomy. I used to scoff at people that would take airbeds camping but after a camping trip that resulted in back pain I decided to give an airbed a try. I wish I'd done it sooner. I've never slept so comfortably while camping since I got this airbed. It comes with a pump and it will take you perhaps 10-15 mins of pumping to get it fully set up. The mattress fits easily in my Coleman 3 person tent and fit myself and my gf comfortably. I recently went camping in November and it was 45 degrees at night but I was toasty all night as being on the airbed, you're not on the cold ground which will sap your body heat. So four layers of blankets on top of us and a airbed underneath us resulted in a good night's rest. I only use this airbed when I go camping, so I can't speak on it's quality or reliability for constant use as a replacement for a mattress nightly. But for camping, it's great. I don't mind pumping it manually although I can see why someone would prefer a battery operated pump. The pillows I've never bothered using as I just take my own pillows. If you go camping, get an airbed. It'll make the experience so much better and you'll be more willing to go out and camp when it doesn't cause you to have back pain or lose sleep because of sleeping on the hard ground.

I'm using it as a temporary bed - I want it to last for at least 2 more months. I had contemplated on buying either this or the sleeping pads. I chose this as its was $30 less than the top rated sleeping pads. It's an OKAY airbed for the price. For $20 I was expecting something worse. I was expecting to wake up with a severe body ache but so far it hasn't hurt my back much. CONS: The ridges (the wavy design on the top ) makes it slightly uncomfortable to sleep. I've added a mattress topper to make it as even as possible but you still feel the lumps when sleeping. I'm hoping I'll get used to it over time It slowly deflates throughout the day, I refill the air every night, 3 - 5 pumps will work fine. I'm a little finicky when it comes to hard bed so you may not have to refill the air every night though.

Let me first start by saying, I've read all the lowest reviews on this product and it absolutely baffles me that so many people have had problems with seams bursting and the supportive ribs becoming detached or the bed just not holding air. All I can say is, maybe it's the fact your buying from online...check the date of manufacturing on the box when you receive it. It's possible that these are left over old-stock that have been sitting around in extreme temperatures, and possibly the best to way to get rid of them is to sell to the good blind buying folks on Amazon lol. Such as you and me. However, I bought my Intex Downy Airbed from Amazon 3 years back now, when I could have just bought it down the street at Wal-Mart or Ocean State Job Lot. I suppose I was one of the lucky ones, for I've never had any problems with it (knock on wood) and the only thing I've ever had to do was add more air to it every couple nights. Because, and believe it or not people, vinyl is a soft stretchy material. The air in it alone, causes it to expand before it relaxes, let alone the weight of someone sleeping on it and even then you have to take in to account the temperature. Let's face it, ever see what happens to a balloon on a hot hot day? Or a balloon on a real cold day? That's right, they either expand or they shrink. Same principle here people, so you will patently have to add air every two to three days. For me, it's no problem adding air every once in a while and I like my mattress firm because I have bad back, and shoulder problems. I just keep the pump right next to the bed and as it needs air, I simply just add a little. As I've said, I've had this bed for 3 years now and I love it, and it was cheap. I've had a few of the more expensive, double layered ones, but this is my favorite. I suggest buying at a local store, but I definitely highly recommend buying this airbed.

This Air mattress is definitely worth it for the price, is comfy and cozy and makes you feel like you want to be tucked in bed like a baby, I definitely recommend it! I know it not for everyday use but this month I used it every single day and haven’t unpumped it but I will put away soon, since I want to save it for camping but great material though. The mattress when you get it is kind of hard to pump with the pump provided (might take around 20-45 minutes, depends on you). I would also say vacuum the mattress like every here and there to keep it clean (not too often though, like rarely). Other than the pumping everything else is great and I would definitely recommend, it’s worth the price for sure.

Facile e veloce da gonfiare, ESTRAMENTE resistente anche per pesi abbastanza elevati! L’ho usato sia in acqua come galleggiante che in campeggioletto ! Durissimo in acqua e morbido a terra, in entrambi i casi garantisce relax e sonni profondi :)))) garantisco la comodità del prodotto! The product is good.. It's big comfortable, queen size, it takes 15 minutes to fill the air.. And 5 mins to inflate.. It's nice to keep at homes, indoors but for outdoor use.. It's heavy to carry and takes little time to fold and keep it in place since its quite big and has weight... Overall it's wow!!! Must have product!!
