Blown away as a first time drone user
This is my first ever drone and honestly, I’m blown away by the DJI Flip. As someone with zero previous experience, I found it incredibly easy to set up, fly and control. Within minutes I was confidently navigating it around without feeling overwhelmed. The camera quality is absolutely superb. I’m glad I chose this model over the slightly higher-spec DJI option, especially since they share the exact same camera. The few reduced specs on this model (range, sensors, etc.) really don’t matter for a beginner — you’d barely notice the difference unless you’re flying professionally or pushing it to extreme conditions. The stabilisation is brilliant, footage looks smooth and sharp, and the response time while flying feels very natural. Battery life is decent for such a compact drone, and the whole thing is unbelievably portable — literally pocketable — so it’s ideal for taking out on walks or days out. Overall, for a first-time user, this drone is perfect. Fantastic camera, super easy to fly, and excellent value. I’m genuinely impressed and really glad I picked this version.

Brilliant first drone
If, like me, you were thinking about buying your first drone, and were torn about which one to buy, let me assure you. Just get this one. The camera is the same as the one inside the DJI Mini 4 Pro, but costs about half of that drone. It's about the same price as the DJI Mini 3, but is newer, with a better camera. And yes, it's more expensive than the DJI Neo, but this has a significantly better camera, with 4k footage and a 3 axis gimble. It has prop guards to keep things a bit safer and to protect from damage. Yes, this means it's not quite so capable in the wind, but as a first drone, would you really want to use it very strong winds? And yes, it's a bit noiser than others, but not a deal breaker. Great, built in quick shots, mean you can quickly (about 20 seconds) get this thing in the air to capture some footage of you or your family, without the need for a controller. It's so easy to use. Good flight time, again, plenty for your first drone, but extra batteries are available. Honestly, if you are after your first drone, that can actually record cinematic footage, and capture RAW photographs, don't overthink it, and get this. You won't be disappointed.

Very very good indeed
Incredible, I bought this on impulse to take on an upcoming trip and didn’t really know what I was buying tbh, I just wanted a basic beginner drone but it seems like this is a good time to buy a first drone as the technology and features are mind blowing nowadays and the prices seemed to have come way down from where they were at a few years ago. This drone is truly mind blowing , the autonomous shooting modes are amazing, the camera quality is next level, the options to control it are many and varied (phone, voice, stick controller or fully auto) and you can adjust everything via the phone / controller including all the camera settings while in flight! I’m going to be going through the feature set for the next few months lol there’s so much it can do. Battery life is decent, it’s super portable and it’s very easy to fly for a beginner, I highly recommend the Flip.

I love the DJI Flip!
This is the first new drone I've purchased in a while. I've been using my Phantom 3 and Phantom 4 for many years, and I've had so many great times filming with them, but there's always been a few things that bugged me, barriers to flying I guess you could say. The Flip has solved some of those issues for me. Starting with it's size, the Flip can fit in the front pocket of my jumper, or easily into a backpack. It makes getting it around so much easier. No more having to take the big case in the car. Setting up is super easy too. Just flip it open and it's automatically on. I can take off without a remote if I want, and it'll just follow me around. Quite different from the phantoms, adding props, finding a flat take off and landing space, setting up the remote, setting up the phone to connect to the remote... Weight class - With the flip only being 249 grams, it relaxes some of the rules around where I can and can't fly. With the Phantom, if I track my self on the bike, and cross paths with someone, I'm supposed to bring the drone down, or keep it 50m away from them. With the flip, I can just leave it doing it's thing. It comes under the same weight category as a toy, but isn't technically classed as a toy because of it's camera. Speaking of camera, this thing really puts out some amazing video for its size. One of the fall backs of the DJI Neo, and ultimately the reason I didn't get one of those was because the video is quite a step back. The Phantom 3 is over 10 years old at this point, but even it makes the Neo footage look rough. That wasn't going to work for me, I needed something on par, and the Flip does that. There are ND filters and other kinds of attachable lenses for the Flip, and these can help take the footage up a notch. Flight time is superb as well. I usually stop my flights at around 25 - 30% battery, and that means I get about 20 minutes per charge, give or take. Of course, you'll get more if you want to use that last bit of the battery. I'd recommend getting extra batteries and stopping sooner, your batteries will thank you for it and they will live longer. Stability in the wind is good here, but it's not invincible. I had it out in some 19mph winds, with gusts being a little higher, and it handled itself. The body was sitting at a near 45 degree angle fighting the wind, but it was doing it, and the footage still looked stable. I don't normally fly in windy conditions, but I did test my drones when I first got them, and did the same here because I wanted to get a physical feel for what it can and can't manage. The range is just what I need. I don't push the limits of what is advertised on this, but I do take note of the signal strength and video feed stability when I'm sending it far out. I've gone to 1.5 miles in line of sight and had no issues with the connection. I think that's about as far as I'd brave it, but I think it could do a good bit more. One thing worth noting is that when connecting using only a phone, the range is fairly limited. This is due to it being powered by Wifi. The Automated flight modes are great. I enjoy the follow me mode. It's reliable, and also safest due to the drone being able to stop when there's an obstacle. It'll follow your path and keep you in view. There's other modes light dronie, spotlight, and more. There's a custom mode that can be changed in the app, and this is where direction track is found. Direction track is the coolest mode I think. It works in the same way as the follow mode, but instead of being behind the user, it stays in the direction it started in. If it starts in front of you, it tries to stay there, if it starts beside you, it'll try and stay there. It can be a little unpredictable sometimes though, so I'd recommend this one be used in an open space. I think the DJI Flip offers the best balance of features of all the DJI drones. It has the simplicity of the Neo, fast and fun, the autonomy of a blogging drone, a great camera, and a long range remote control. If you're looking to step into the world of drones for the first time, I think this is the drone you should go for.

incredible 4k video, battery is the only downside
honestly amazed at how steady the footage is for such a tiny drone. being under 249g is the big seller here as you dont need all the heavy licenses to fly it. the 4k video looks crisp and professional straight out of the camera. knocked a star off purely for battery life. claims are a bit optimistic, in real world flying with a bit of wind you burn through it pretty quick so you definitely need spare batteries. other than that, its a brilliant bit of kit.

Cool look, safe and great for vlog
So glad to get this product. The video quality is super clear and definitely good enough for everyday use. Whether I’m shooting landscapes or people, the quality is pretty solid. The camera sensor on the DJI Flip drone is better than the one on the Neo. The design really caught my eye too. It’s got this unique, cool look and a high-tech vibe. Plus, it is really stable in the air and easy to control. Just a heads up though, if it’s really windy, I wouldn’t recommend flying it too high. I also love the propeller guards. They make flying a lot safer, so I don’t have to worry about the propellers hitting anything, which is a huge relief. I used it to film me and my friends. No matter where I go, the drone follows and captures everything. It’s super convenient and has definitely turned a few heads when I’m out and about. I’ve had a ton of fun with it and it’s definitely worth checking out.

The ideal first drone
What an incredible step into the drone world. DJI seem to be the trusted brand, and with a bunch of drones to their portfolio, I was a little lost. This hower seems the perfect balance of image quality, features, fly time, portability and importantly - value. The neo is it's cheaper rival, but suffers in the image quality department, the hands free fun if the neo has been adopted by the flip, it's other rival being the 4k pro, matching it's sensor and image quality but doubling the price... I opted for the drone and the screen less rc-n3 controller and found it on a warehouse deal. Then purchased a battery and charger direct from DJI. All in a decent beginners bundle. The drone is intuitive and easy to get started. The image and video quality is impressive too. If you're on the fence as I was, you won't be disappointed.

249g drone.
Gimbal motor overload fault and Gimbal calibration failure, straight out of the box. If they work, I'm sure they are a great job, but quality control in the factory must be low standards to allow a product to be released with software faults like this. Lots of restrictions in Europe on flying even a drone like this which is under the 250g limit. Even if its registered in the UK, that registration means nothing in the Europe. So be careful where you fly it. Item returned, will purchase another once my money is returned and update rating and review if needed.

Great drone for beginners
I’ve been really happy with the DJI Flip so far. It’s surprisingly stable in the air and handled 15 mph wind gusts on my first flight better than I expected for a small drone. The camera quality is excellent. Photos and videos come out sharp and smooth, and the stabilization works great. Build quality also feels solid and well made. Nothing about it feels cheap. It’s also very easy to learn and fly, even if you’re new to drones. The app and controls are straightforward, and I was comfortable flying it pretty quickly. Overall it’s a great drone if you want something portable, capable, and beginner friendly.

Drone for beginners
One on my wish list from the longest time. Finally bought it and it's amazing. Although, the fans make a noise compared to other drones, but great stability. I'm not a drone pro pilot yet so can't say anything much but for a beginner it's a nice buy.
