Hunter X-Core 4 Zone Sprinkler Timer, Indoor/Outdoor Sprinkler Controller

Builder had a Hunter X-Core installed, hard-wired in, but after 9 years something went haywire. The control knob selection and the display did not match and I couldn't control the drip irrigation. Bought this one to replace it to make it easier to fit in the location and for the familiarity of controls. I had to remove the plug cord from this and disconnect the hard-wiring (after turning off the power in the breaker panel) in order to install this. Sounds harder than it is. The wiring matches up perfectly so it was actually a pretty easy job. Power connected and the system tested good right away.

I really like the ease of installation and operation of the hunter irrigation timers. I have installed several over the last couple of years and have had no complaints.

My house was relatively new when I inherited the Hunter controller. Unfortunately, it failed after being attached to the outside of my garage in 7 yrs. Worked great until it failed. I called hunter and they said it really shouldn't be attached on the south side of the house in the desert that I live in. It is way too hot for the wires and should be on the north side or inside the garage. I just replaced it where it was and will see how long it lasts. If it is short lived, I will drill a hole through the side of my garage, buy another and attach on the inside of the garage. addition: Currently, I have the controller on the south side of my desert home. This creates a problem as the insides of this product I don't' believe were not designed to withstand very high summer temps of 120 or more. My first one lasted. 7 yrs. This product should last 20 yrs but because it's on the south side, this one wont last that long either. I can't move the location for now unless I am willing to drill hole in the side of my house into the garage to product from UV rays plus high heat. The north side has no elec outlets or power on that side. If this happens again, I will commit to the drilling and put the controller inside the garage.

This timer is extremely easy to install and program. Just make sure you take a picture of the previous wiring for your different zones before you disconnect the old one.

This was a perfect replacement for the X-Core model that came with our house in 2015. The old model had a flaw where the contacts would cause the spring loaded piece of metal to fatigue and catch (then break) when turning it to the left. It lasted 11 years, and I assume this one will last longer (now that I know how it works). Other than that, the functionality is exactly the same. It is simple to schedule times and zones and each schedule has up to 4 watering times a day. It also has an optional add-on where you can connect with their app. Depending on your yard, you might opt for more zones, but the price of this can't be beat.

Outstanding controller. This replaced an old Hunter. It is easy to program and keeps very good time.

Am sure it is a great product but it is for 120V only, will not work outside US because voltage difference. Please make sure to buy 220V if outside US
