Peter Pan: Illustrated Gift Edition (Nosy Crow Classics)

I bought this for my then 4 year old as Peter Pan is one of my favourite books, but I don’t like the Disney adaptation. This edition is a perfect introduction for young children - it’s absolutely beautiful (both the dust jacket and the hardcover underneath, as well as the lovely illustrations throughout); it’s a good abridgement of the story that manages to cover all the main events without being too long; and it’s written in (good) rhyme to appeal to young children. It’s longer than the other picture books we were reading at the time so we would normally read it over a couple of nights - it takes 15-20 minutes to read in full so it’s absolutely doable in one sitting, and the story is engaging enough that we often want to. It also has a ribbon page marker, which my daughter likes using so she’s usually fine with stopping halfway. She loves it, enough that it’s made her interested in other Peter Pan stories,

I bought this book for my son because we were going to a Peter Pan–themed event and I wanted him to learn the story beforehand. We finished the book within a week. The story is easy to understand and he enjoyed it very much. He was able to read most of the book by himself, so it worked well as reading practice. The quality of the book is great. We will definitely keep it for my younger child in the future.

This is a lovely book. My son is almost 5 and we read it for the first time a few nights ago and it's been the chosen bedtime story since. He says it's his favourite book now. The illustrations are lovely and he particularly likes the picture of Pan and the Lost Boys' underground secret hideout and the map of Neverland page. It's quite a long story compared to the picture books that we usually read, but the pictures are interesting so hold his attention and the rhyming story helps. I'll be looking to buy some more Nosy Crow illustrated classics like these.

Whilst story is written in rhyme and very good, the illustrations are very well done and colourful. A charming book which I bought for a five year old.

Peter Pan is a story that's eluded me all of my 75 years but having seen this lovely gift edition I bought it for my new grandson. He might be a couple of years before he appreciates it but my son, having looked at it this afternoon says he can't wait to read it to him. The dust jacket is lovely but the inside embossed hard cover is simply stunning. The poetry simply flows from the magical appearing of Tink to Wendy and Peter, to the pirate adventures and eventually, through all the wonderful illustrations, to a happy ending. Words cannot say how highly I rate this book in every aspect. Enjoy!!!

Lovely book for children.

There are picture books you read when you're a kid, that stay with you for years - books that seem totally magical and you will return to throughout your life and pass on; I ordered this (for my niece) and when I opened the package, even as a grown-up, I knew it was one of those magical books. The stunningly beautiful illustrations have such clever detail, meaning you can look and look again at the same page and always see something new. The colours are beautiful too and of course the words are brilliant; together they bring to life this timeless story - Lovely quality & by far the best illustrated kids book I've seen for a long time - I even ordered another copy for myself but don't tell anyone as I'm 47!

I was pleasantly surprised, I bought this for world book day to match my sons peter pan outfit and this book is absolutely beautiful. Every page is beautifully illustrated so suitable for toddlers although I do change the words a bit for my 3 year old to understand but as he grows, he will be able to read it and so it will hopefully last a very long time. The book itself is hardback with a dark blue cloth material with silver printing. I’ve removed the cover because it kept slipping off and don’t want my 3 year old to rip it. My 3 year old son loves his book and I think its fantastic value for money

Given this as a gift to two different kids, girl and boy, both loved the rhyming. It’s great for new readers or those in between reading and listening phases.

This book is very well illustrated. My children (6 and 4) kept asking me to return to pictures to look at them in more detail. It follows the story of Peter Pan fairly closely, even the stuff left out of the 1953 Disney film. It has a rhymic structure that makes following the text somewhat easier when reading aloud to children. The dust cover is embossed and quite lovely to look at. A worthwhile book!
