Good quality easy to use

Picked up two of these clamps on Amazon, which offers the best price. The clamps arrived in a flimsy cardboard envelop, but thanks to the sturdy build quality, nothing was damaged. I have used it so far to clamp several wide boards to form both edge joint and face joint to form a thick table top. The deep full face pads proved to be very ideal for jointing. The pressure is extremely strong and very uniform. The jaws reaches deep, and really helps if you face joint wide boards. The quick racheting handle is comfortable to grab, and closes quickly and conveniently. And best of all, unlike the earlier versions, this clamp has a very thick and heavy steel I-beam. For the boards I jointed, 4 ft wide, there is no noticeable bow in the beam when fully clamped. And when clamped for overnight, I didn't notice any relaxation in the jaws. I also picked up 8 of the 24" versions. Together they provide everything I need to do edge and face jointing. So no more fumbling with c-clamps and cushioning pads. Just line up the boards and squeeze the handle. The pressure is just as strong. It is pricy, but well worth the money.

This clamp/spreader is impressive! I needed a tool to stretch replacement chair slings that I installed on my patio chairs. Previous attempts with cheaper spreaders had failed. I even tried to use a scissor jack for a car, and bent it before the slings would stretch enough to fit the bars back into the chair frame. This Irwin Heavy Duty clamp/spreader did the job! It worked well for my patio chair application and I'm sure that I'll get plenty of additional use from this tool for years to come!

Heavy duty clamps, work well.

This clamp works well. It just isn’t the one I wanted. It’s the right size, but I preferred the light duty. Got it as a gift and it’s too late to return..

I'm a hardcore woodworker. I've used these heavy duty clamps for about 20 years. The only thing better than one of these clamps is several of them. With a little practice you can routinely reach for one of these clamps with one hand (while the other hand is holding a couple pieces of wood together), flip the clamp upside down, press the release trigger, and gravity will slam it shut. Then you can torque it as tight as you want with the big trigger. These clamps can squeeze as hard as a screw clamp, but they're 10 times faster and don't mar the wood. A friend of mine at work said he wouldn't buy these because the jaws are plastic. He is a fool who will never know what he's missing. These clamps are incredible tools. I recommend, and I'm certain you won't regret your purchase.

I use these kind of clamps all the time in my shop. I have four of these long ones, and many multiples of the shorter variety, probably about 40 in all. They're great for holding work down om my table, temporarily holding things together as I work them, and testing joints quickly. I can't recommend these enough. I especially love the ability to turn one end around and use them as spreaders in addition to clamping.
