Yasmin Khan unlocks the flavors and fragrances of modern Palestine, from the sun-kissed pomegranate stalls of Akka, on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, through evergreen oases of date plantations in the Jordan Valley, to the fading fish markets of Gaza City. Palestinian food is winningly fresh and bright, centered around colorful mezze dishes that feature the region’s bountiful eggplants, peppers, artichokes, and green beans; slow-cooked stews of chicken and lamb flavored with Palestinian barahat spice blends; and the marriage of local olive oil with earthy za’atar, served in small bowls to accompany toasted breads. It has evolved over several millennia through the influences of Arabic, Jewish, Armenian, Persian, Turkish, and Bedouin cultures and civilizations that have ruled over, or lived in, the area known as ancient Palestine. In each place she visits, Khan enters the kitchens of Palestinians of all ages and backgrounds, discovering the secrets of their cuisine and sharing heartlifting stories. Review: Good cookbook - It provides some historic information on the cuisine to go with authentic recipes. The photos are nice too. Review: Fantastic - Gorgeous cookbook: beautiful stories and writing along with the recipes and photos. She’s a fantastic storyteller and I love that it connects to the food and cultures. Because of her writing, I’m using this and Saffron Tales as reading books to my niece and nephews as part of the home economics and cultural lessons at-home.

SO F*****G DELICIOUS
This is one of the best cookbooks I've ever encountered. We got this as part of a cook-book-club and tasted probably two dozen recipes from the book and only one out of all of those we tried wasn't an absolute slam dunk.

Recipes are precise and delicious
Print quality is good. Most of the recipes come with photos. Ive been testing so many of her recipes lately, all have turned out very delicious : soothing chickpea stew , which tastes delicious even when served cold, filling Tabbouleh salad, tahini ice-cream, Maqloubeh - upside-down rice with aubergines and peppers and Shakshuka. All dishes were rich in taste... Absolutely recommended book to buy!

Amazing, Tasty and Inspiring
I have never written a review before but this book hands down deserves one. As someone who enjoys to cook I do not often spend money on recipe books as I think it is silly to spend £20 or so pounds on a book from which you will find one or two recipes which you will make repeatedly and prefer, most of the time to simply find new things to try out online. This book though is a whole other story. Middle Eastern food is a cuisine which I enjoy anyway but this book has provided some really eye opening recipes as well as beautiful extracts of the authors travels in Palestine and the history of the dishes and the people who make them. We have tried five or six recipes now and all of them have been DELICIOUS. We mostly eat vegetarian/vegan and this book caters for that brilliantly as well as offering some meaty options. Even my sister who is a pretty fussy eater and tends to enjoy plainer food has liked all of the dishes we have made - a sure sign that this book is quality! The hummus recipe is OUT OF THIS WORLD and I eat it by the spoonful. I have had to go out and buy some special ingredients such as pomegranate molasses and sumac but my gosh has it been worth it. The only recipe which did not win all out praise was the little date cookies but that was due only to the fact that they were heavily rosy which is not a flavour that we all love however, my mum who does like it, loved them and I can't wait to try out more of the sweeter dishes. I cannot sing this books praises enough - if you are looking for some new cooking inspiration please try this book! It will liven up your dinner times and introduce you to a beautiful new world of flavours!

Bellissimo
