Check to see if there is water in the tip. If there is a lot of moisture or water in the actual sensor the alarm will go off non stop.

LS790B to detect all non-combustible CFC, HCFC, HFC, SF6 gases and blends. 404a is hp62, so if you go by item description from cps website the answer is no

How accurate it finds leaks

I was able to find the small lea that was in the back of the blower unit in a matter of minutes. The AC repairman wanted $100 to take out his tester. I was able to quickly point the leak out to the repairman without paying for his time to troubleshoot.

How accurate it finds leaks

My husband really likes this detector and says it is extremely accurate. He didn't like the detector, either, until he read the directions carefully. When working in a refrigerant saturated area (like inside a cooler where a unit has been leaking), the detector will "sound off" continuously. You must keep "clearing" the unit in order to "pinpoint" the leak and keep your "sensitivity" level about half-way. Also, the "tip" of the leak detector must be "clean" and on tight. If the "tip" is loose, the unit will continuously "sound off". This CPS detector replaced an older, popular brand name unit that cost 3x as much and he likes this one better.
