Edward Kenway sets out to become a pirate and finds himself drawn into the centuries-old battle between the Assassins and the Templars in this novel based on the Assassin's Creed™ video game series.“I was spellbound by the hooded man at work. Mesmerized by this agent of death, who had ignored the carnage around him by biding his time and waiting to strike.” It is the golden age of piracy and the New World beckons. Edward Kenway—the brash young son of a wool merchant—dreams of gold and cannot resist the lure of a life of glory on the high seas. When his family homestead is attacked, there seems like no better time to escape, and Kenway soon establishes himself as one of the deadliest privateers of his day. But greed, ambition and betrayal follow closely in his wake. And when evidence of a crippling conspiracy begins to surface, threatening to destroy everything that he holds dear, Kenway can’t resist the urge for retribution. An Original Assassin's Creed Novel Based on the Multiplatinum Video Game from Ubisoft Review: Pretty good, but not any better than the AC 3 novel - Got it in good condition, seems orginal and not a fake reprint. Basically covers the whole story of AC black flag. The first 100 or so pages tells the story of Edward being a farmer then going on his privateer voyage. Not to mention the aftermath of Edwards pirate life, especially for his family (no spoilers) which is not shown in the game. Review: Must own for Assassin Creed Saga Fans....Very fun book! - Engaging from the start...looses pace only towards the last few chapters, Assassin creed black flag tells the story of Edward Kenway. The book is set during the golden age of piracy and narrative is focused completely from Kenway's perspective. For the fans of the series, I would like to inform that no were in the novel th talks of Animus and its simulation happens at all. While the game starts with you getting into a shoes of an Abestergo Employee and then experiencing Edward Kenway's life as a simulation. This makes the story of the novel very focused and straight forward. Ahoy mates, give this book a shot along with a swig of Rum :)

Captain Edward Kenway Revealed
I have read a couple other of the Assassin's Creed books by Oliver Bowden and I am pleased with how much the author himself seems to have developed, alongside of the AC world and its characters. I applaud the organic feeling that he brings to Edward, a natural, believable swagger that reflects the character in the game, as well as the sights and sounds of the era. It was absolutely wonderful to get the details of the back story, prior to the events in the game proper. I felt that the author took his time developing the characters, so that by the time we got into the familiar territory of the game setting, I was getting to look at the characters and the events with a new, more in-depth perspective. With this, I feel like I was better able to understand certain aspects of Edward that I didn't while playing the game. I do have a small nitpick and I hope it's not too much of a spoiler to say that this book did feel a little incomplete at the end (similar to the let-down I felt with the very limited perspective of Connor at the end of AC:Forsaken). It seemed to just abruptly end. There is an entire chapter of Edward's life left untold by both the book and the game and I found that a little frustrating, especially given how completely we finally get to see the beginning of Edward's journey in this book. It would have been nice to carry that momentum on and to see the events that happened once Edward returned to England, and to see the kind of work for the Assassin Order Edward did in those later years, before Haytham was born. But all in all, this was a great read and a fine addition to the AC universe.

Go for it
If you enjoy the video games you will enjoy how these books fill in the backstory. Good read.
