HOPPE Mortise Lock, 1" DEADBOLT Throw, 45/92 Single Point Lock 1-3/4" Backset

Replacement mortise for Hoppe lock, fits perfectly. However the latch was the wrong direction and I read on Amazon Q&A to pull and twist the latch to change its direction. It worked, ingenious idea! Relieved we didn't have to take the body apart. Glad the front door won't open randomly, it flew open last night and it still gets down into the teens at night.

Perfect to repair a twenty year old lock set. These hoppe locks and hardware are not cheap and it is difficult to find replacement parts. This was the exact replacement for our patio doors after one of the gears inside stripped out. I would advice that you remove the mortise lock from the door and make sure that the measurements line up because there are several variations.

Appears like it was installed / attempted to be installed previously. Shipped in shipping paper and no packaging. Many scratches on casing. But those won't be visible once installed. Visible face plate portion also had couple minor scratches. Didn't bother returning because appears to be good value for quality door knob and no one will likely notice / prior scratches will appear like routine door hardware wear and tear. Need 5 total, so purchasing more from buyer. Purchased separate item directly from seller's website and shipped in new condition with no issues whatsoever.

Where have you been all my life!? Weve battled with multipoint mechanisms and a constant wave of problems with gearboxes etc. not to mention the near impossibility of lock automation. An LLM said I could just swap out the gear box for one of these and oh my goodness our Hoppe handle sewers function as if new! Silent operation, sturdy wonderful. Replaced all of our gearboxes with these and lock turners.

Perfect replacement for original unit. They do wear though so need a touch up with a hand file every few years.

These are in my apartment building and every. single. one. in the building has been replaced. I took mine apart and there is a pinion inside that mates with a spring-loaded rack to return the door handle to the normal position. that pinion is basically made of silly putty. you have to replace the whole thing when that pinion literally loses its teeth. Bad durability.

The lock fit perfectly in my door and was otherwise easy to install, but I ran into a really frustrating issue right away. When I went to reverse the latch (pull it out and twist), the internal mechanism locked up. Turns out the inside wasn’t quite right — I had to take the whole lock apart and reset a spring that had shifted out of place. It felt like the lock wasn’t fully or properly assembled from the factory, which is not something you expect at this price point. To make things more annoying, the screws holding it together were a mix of hex and tri-wing screws. No idea why tri-wing is necessary here. Luckily, I happened to have a bit set that included one — but most people probably won’t. Once I fixed it and reassembled everything, the lock works fine and fits well, but I was definitely irritated that I had to do extra troubleshooting on a brand-new product. Bottom line: Good fit and easy install after fixing it, but quality control could be better. If you’re comfortable taking hardware apart, you’ll be fine — otherwise, be prepared for some frustration.
