Versatile, fun game
This has become a fast family favorite. Game is well made, with sturdy materials that seem like they are built to last. This game is easy to learn and play, and is incredibly versatile. Choose which variation works for you or try different ways. Don't have much time? We have played "Race to Earth" by seeing who can journey through space and back to Earth the fastest. Want to have unique objectives to the game for each player? Have everyone start with a mission card. You can incorporate mission cards in different ways. Compete and see who is first to achieve their goal or make it cooperative and everyone wins only if everyone achieves their goal. Choose to make secret mission cards or make them visible to everyone. Play without fuel to simplify for new or younger players, or with fuel for a more dynamic challenge. This game is fun independent of any educational components. However, for those considering buying the game as a learning experience, expect that 1) Players become familiar with the planets and dwarf planets in our solar system, 2) Players become familiar with which planets have no moons, which have only one or two moons, and which have many moons, 3) Players learn names of several moons and which planets those moons are associated with, 4) Playing close attetion to board set up, which planets are rocky and which are gas giants (that we cannot land on) 5) Making change with 1000, 500, 100, 50, and 10 based monetary units, 6) Math for fuel, 7) multiplication of numbers shown on dice, and more. This game does not teach how relatively close or far each planet is to the sun. We didn't buy it for that anyway. This game is really fun, and I highly reccomend!

Finally found it!
That space age real estate boardgame from my childhood is finally back. And somewhat improved! More recently discovered celestial bodies and the reclassification of Pluto incorporated into this really fun family board game. It's more fun than Monopoly (in my opinion) and had been hard to find. Get it while you can!

Best game ever
I've been playing this game for 30 years, starting when my kids were small. Like Monopoly but in the solar system. Great way to learn about the planets and the many, many moons in our solar system. Great for adults too .

Great game for children and adults.
I played the old version as a kid and now we have been playing this with my children. This is a great game.

Great customer service. Both better and worse than the original game.
My friends had this game in the 80's and I missed playing it, so I bought this. I was surprised to find it was missing both Mercury and Triton's property cards. I just opened the game for the first time, and they were not included. Luckily the seller took care of this promptly:) Great customer service! I was also surprised to learn Red-Shifts were removed from the game. I saw some comments saying the changes to the game are an improvement, but the redshifts added such a random moment of excitement that really stood out to make this game a winner on game nights. Adding magnets to the board is a wonderful improvement. What was printed on redshift cards are now scattered on the board. You could argue this will make the game quicker, but it very much sets the tone of the game in the first few roles. As one in particular comes up all the time and is quite the game changer, go to Mars, and select a free property. With this being quite a popular spot to land on, who ever landed on it first will own mars, and collect $$$ like crazy. Being stuck around planets is less of a thing, for better or worse. I like the idea that they were going for, but I think I prefer the old game.

A great game reborn.
This was one of my favorite boardgames as a kid, but there were definitely issues with the original rules and components. The Deluxe Edition has fixed these issues, and added new elements to make the game even more enjoyable. It's an educational game, so players can learn about the neighboring worlds in our Solar System. The game can be played with fuel monitoring, adding a resource management element to the game. At it's core, Solar Quest is like Monopoly, but set in the Solar system instead of Atlantic City. All in all, this is a good, mid-level game. It's not as complex as games you might find in your local gaming store and not as basic as the games you find in the toy aisles of the average department store.

it's not like the original game
if you never played the original game it would be great, but I bought it because I liked the original one. When I opened it it was very different, not the same rules or planets .

Fantastic new version of a classic!!!
This is a great new version of a classic board from my childhood, The board has a nice new look to it and the addition of making the red shift cards to the blue dots keeps the game more chaotic and variable and can keep it moving along instead of getting stuck in a rut like the original game could get it. If you like monopoly style games and love space themed games than this is a no brainer for sure. There is far more strategy in this than in most real estate game since you have fuel to worry about and can fire lasers to possibly destroy other players among other things. The only thing I will say is i wish the instructions cleared up a couple more things but those only things that come up vary rarely but can significantly alter gameplay. And it is nice they include two rule set, one for beginners and another for the grizzled space veterans that want the full experience!!! 5/5 high recommeded
